We really did not have any major complaints in terms of food or amenities at the resort. What we really had an issue with was the Front Desk staff and their total disinterest towards the guests. The assistant manager Jonathan in particular was absolutely horrible to deal with. He had a nasty attitude and refused to help or even move a finger to even attempt to help anyone. We travelled with a big group and each one of us had a horrible encounter with him. When you tried to ask him a question he pretended not to speak English when we clearly heard him speaking perfectly well before hand. Our experience dealing with the staff at the front desk totally takes away from the experience we had at the resort and management needs to reconsider who they hire to represent their name because with staff like that you leave guests with no choice but to go elsewhere on their next Punta Cana visit. The only member of the staff that we all really loved and had a pleasure dealing with was Marta who works at the VIP lounge. She goes up and beyond to help you and make you feel comfortable and ensure that your stay is without any stress or worries. If the rest of the staff acted more like her then Be Live will definitely be the resort to stay in Dominican Republic. She is wonderful, kind and extremely professional!
Aside from management, most of the workers at the resort are pleasant and friendly. Pedro who works the swim up bar is great and always ready to take care of you, as well as Santiago who is at the VIP Beach Bar. One server who really made our night at the Italian restaurant was Milciades, he was so polite and attentive to our needs, really stood out in our mind.
Food wise, there was always something to choose from at the buffet even though it did become repetitive because they rarely changed the food selection. So that would be a recommendation for sure - add more variety in their menus for the buffet because after a couple of days you get a little bored of eating the same things. We really enjoyed the breakfast and lunch selection at the Mexican restaurant. Everything just seemed fresher and less hectic there, especially the personal grill station and pasta station. From the specialty restaurants, we were really disappointed with the Gourmet one. Food was very tasteless and not what we expected, especially after reading some of the reviews. Mexican was nice but you really could honestly get most of the menu at the buffet. The Grill was excellent the first time we went there so we booked it for another night and were shocked at how totally different the service and food was. It took an hour to get our food our second time around, half our orders were wrong and totally different from what we ordered and the food looked and tasted different from our first night. Brazilian is pretty good, their meats selections are a nice change from what is offered at the buffet. Italian was pretty good as well, even though they have pasta and pizza at the buffet, the ones at the restaurant tasted fresher and with more flavor. Japanese was hibachi style and no complaints there. One thing we noticed is the resort lacked in any seafood selection and even though the restaurants had various foods with shrimp in them, when we would order them they always told us they don't have shrimp.
The shows were pretty good. Our flight was delayed 5 hours so we arrived late at the resort on our first night and only caught the last 15 minutes of the show that night but it had air acrobatics and a fire show which was great and the first one I have seen at a resort in DR. We hoped that they will have it again during our stay so we can watch the whole show but unfortunately that didn't happen. The entertainment staff was nice too, we just wish they interacted more with the guests especially during the day, aside from gathering people for games, the pool could have used more music and liveliness at times and the disco was really dead and empty throughout our whole stay. We noticed the staff themselves often looked bored inside so maybe it would be a good idea for them to gather people from the show and around the main pool bar and escort them there.
Overall the experience was nice and relaxing but if it wasn't for Marta's help we probably would have had to go through more unnecessary ordeals with the front desk and Jonathan. Change that factor and this resort will definitely go up in ratings!
