Beautiful resort mainly used by European tourists, with one of the best, if not the best, beach in the area.

Just back from this hotel and i can't believe the negative review's it is getting!!!!
A reviewer said they had to queue for the mexican,japanese and spanish restaurant's--utter rubbish--you booked at the desk leading to the main buffet restaurant for that night or the next night-easy!!!!!!
Another said that the main buffet restaurant roof was getting fixed--true but the guy's were painting it!!!!
The ornamental pool's were getting worked on so some of them were not working but they were working at some point during our stay. Can I ask when they are meant to do maintenance??? any idea's from the bad reviewer's???? In a complex open all year some maintenance must be done during some point!!!!
The only point that was worth noting was the entertainment finished at 10.45pm but the show's in every complex finished then so heyho---in my opinion maybe a couple of night's dancing to the house band would have been nice-but when in Rome.
The disco was on the small side but I go to smaller venues in Edinburgh and the complaint about the music--you are in a Latin American country -you accept that you will hear that form of music!!!
All in all the fortnight we were there we loved it--on the flight back we heard some real horror stories about hotel's in the North so we counted ourselves real lucky.
GO AND MAKE UP YOUR OWN MIND!!!.

This was a gift to myself for graduation and I can tell you, it was one of the worst decisions I have ever made. I had orignally planned to go to Italy and then said, why not go to a place where I can relax and be waited on after all, I put myself through graduate school and missed so much time for me.

I regret that I did not listen to my friend who told me to look at this site and really understand it. This site is not a site done by travel agents or their reps but by us the people who visit the places. If a tour operator were to come in and the hotel knew it, they are treatly very differently.

I came home yesterday and it was the best part of the trip. I shared photos of my trip with two ladies I met who stayed at a different hotel. Their photos were wonderful and mine, were photos of mold, locks that did not lock, employees who treated me different because I did not speak Spanish, Russian, German, Italian or French. I was treated differently because I was alone and an American. They wanted to argue with me because I wanted to pay in Dominican Pesos and not dollars well, I had to argue with them that they wanted to take my money but not speak to me in my own language? I could not understand it and neither could they.

The night before I left, two buckets of paint fell from the top of the lobby, when they went to clean it up, they were smoking and as I was trying to talk to the MOD at that time who was telling me he spoke English, I asked him didn't he think it was odd that his employee was cleaning up paint with a paint remover while smoking and he told me yes, I understand English. I looked at him and wanted for the place to catch on fire! It was obvious that he did not speak English nor understand what I was talking about.

While I could go on and on, I'm too exhausted to do so. I do ask that you check your locks to the front door and sliding doors, I ask that you ask for clean glasses each day as they wash them in the sink - bathroom sink, check for mold, mold, mold. Check for roaches on the counters in the large open restaurant area. Check for painting falling, look for "women of the night."

Yes, we all have our own thoughts about each place and what we like and don't like but right now, I'm watching my health due to the food, and lack of cleanliness of the rooms, and the fact that the men like to touch their private parts and then wait on you.

The complex is on a very nice beach and not far from the airport. We are frequent travellers and are not fussy, having stayed in many budget hotels over the years. This is a badly run hotel staffed by miserable people who are often rude, a stark contrast to the lovely Dominicans we have met in other resorts we have stayed at on the island. On arrival we saw a different hotel to the one shown on the website. The beautiful ornamental lakes were actually troughs of green, stagnant water which gave off a bad smell and gave the hotel a depressing feel. We were given the wrong room and asked to be changed to a double in a quieter area of the complex. The roofs of the main restaurant were being replaced and hammering started at 11.00pm and went on throughout the night. I speak Spanish but its funny how quickly the staff lose their ability to understand you when you ask for something. We tried for 4 days to get the elusive First Choice rep and gave up in the end. Several of us got skin infections that we later found were caught from using sun loungers that hadnt been cleaned, 1 guy from Liverpool had to be hospitalised. There are plenty of bars and restaurants around the complex but wherever you go the staff are so miserable. We found the best place to eat was the restaurant for the Italians, where the food was really good. The themed Japanese, Spanish and Mexican restaurants are OK but not worth the queuing time as the food is very ordinary. The local beer and spirits are fine and you can get good pizzas from the snack bar. Overall experience of this hotel was very poor. We went with First Choice and tried to complain afterwards but they werent interested and ignored our emails. We wouldnt recommend this hotel, it is about a 3 star at best, and by the far the worse we have stayed in on the island. Look elsewhere.
