Learning to Kiteboard is something that I have been interested in doing for some time. I have researched many places, both in Canada, and in the Dominican, and Kite Club looked the best based off their website. Upon arriving, and meeting the staff, I knew I had made the right decision, they are knowledgeable, communicate well over various languages, which makes learning much easier.
I have grown up on the water, and have tried all sorts of boardsports (and can't wait to keep going at this one!), so I had no doubt I would pick up the sport at a decent rate. My worry was that I was travelling with my girlfriend who is 115 lbs of princess, so burning a couple days of failed kiteboarding attempts when she could be lounging by the pool with a cocktail in her hand would not have been good for morale on the rest of the trip. She went in there with a good attitude, was eager to learn, and right after I was up surfing around, she was too.
I credit the staff for helping us pick up the sport so quickly. They were quick to point out what was going right, and what was going wrong. I never felt that either my girlfriend or I were ever at a safety risk.
If you have any itch to try a new sport, try kiteboarding. If you have an itch to kiteboard, KITE CLUB is your spot, 100%.
