Just got back from a 5 day 4 night stay at the Reserve. May 16th. It was my first time and my wifes second time in Punta Cana. I read all the reviews before I left so i wasn't sure what to expect. Obviously it is off season.
It was like we were the only ones at the resort which didn't bother us. We sat where ever we want at the pool and beach.
Room: It was beautiful. We were upgraded to a swim up room. I would actually pay to stay in the swim up. We had a hot tub on the patio with 2 chairs and a love seat, 2 lounge chairs and a papala hut which was so comfortable. The first night after dinner, my wife and i went out there to lay down. Next thing you know we were sleeping. I could have stayed out there all night.
Beach: Beautiful. The Reserve is a 6-8 minute walk to the beach or a 1 minutes golf cart ride which were available all the time. There were many different ways to walk to the beach and we really injoyed the walk everyday. Tons of places to sit on the beach with or without shade. Water was warm and yes there was seaweed. I would call it sea grass. It was mostly by the shore. No waves it was very refreshing.
Pools: Besides the swim up pool at our room, there were 3 pools to choose from. All were great. 2 had swim up bars.
Food: Was very good we ate at Aqua whic was awesome, Mizo which was ok, Gabi Beach whic was awesom and Passions which was awesome. Nice size portions at each place. These were dinners
Breakfast we ate at Noas which was your normal buffet. We also ate breakfast at Gabi bar and lounge same as Naos.
Lunch we ate at the Hydro grill at the Reserve which was fine, Gabi Beach which was very good and Naos which was good.
Overall dinners were great (Aqua), lunch was good and breakfast was good.
Service was good it was off peak so there were not alot of people running around asking you for drinks. But they were there and if you raised your hand or got a drink from them during the day they would be back around to see if you wanted more. They brought you water by the beach without asking. Rooms were clean and waiters were good.
Drinks: Top shelf liquor, tap, can and bottled beer. I drank Numero One and Presidente. Very good. Try the banana mudslide but order two because it takes you about a minute to drink it because it is so good.
Dress; pack baithing suits. 2 dress up dinners men had to wear pants and shoes and 2 casual night i wore shorts and flip flops.
Gym: Very nice and clean
Night life: They had some shows but we didn't go. They had bars also.
Overall: Not sure if i forgot anything if i need just email me. If you like the beach even thought the Resaerve is a 8 minutes walk to the beach this is the place to be. Very peaceful. I can't tell you what its like during peak season but off season was perfect.
