“Dalliance Laguerre superior service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

Very few vacations can boast excellent service for every minute of the stay. However my experience with the Reserve at the Paradisus hotel in Punta Cana was exceptional. The concierege Dalliance Laguerre provided service beyond any expection. The restaurants recommended and visited we're exquisite. The SPA service and attitude of the entire hotel staff displayed a unique understanding of training and how to pamper a customer. BRAVO PARADISUS HOTEL. I'm a lifetime customer.

Room Tip: The Master suite with dual jacuzzi was fabulous.

We just came back from our first trip to Punta Cana. It was a wonderful vacation. We stayed at the Paradisus because friends recommended it. It was a great place. The Reserve section where we stayed was really nice. I found it worth the extra $ since you have access to more restaurants on the Reserve side. We stayed in a one bedroom suite. It was really nice having a hot tub on our balcony. We all loved relaxing in it at the end of a day. The kids really loved it too. We had taken other reviewers suggestions to not stay on the bottom floor. We only had mosquitos bother us on the 2nd floor, but that was fine. My complaint about the room is the pull out sofa. If you are planning on letting your mom or in laws sleep on it, think again. The mattress is not a real mattress like on a bed. It was so hard, we all had to take turns sleeping on it because it was not fair to make one person sleep on it for 7 nights. The housekeeping staff was great. Our room was always clean and the turn down service was a nice touch. I wish there was more for older kids to do. Our kids are 9 and 12 and they were stuck in the middle. They were too big for the kids club-even though thats up to age 12, we found it very geared to small children. They weren't old enough to participate in all of the daytime activities because they weren't old enough. However, since we went at a quite time, and I was doing the activity, they let my kids do them to. Don't count on it though during a busy time. The food was ok-not great like we have had at other all inclusives. The nicer restaurants had very small portions. We like good food and good service and we have well mannered kids who like to eat good food too. The kids menu was geared for a very young child. They ended up ordering off of the adult menu and were happy, but you should be aware that older children like mine are kind of stuck in between little child and adult here with not many options. The hostess at Vente did tell us that they can make any type of pasta and sauce for my 9 year old. We ordered her Gnocchi with blue cheese sauce(her favorite) and she loved it. Great suggestion. They offer a lot of water activities that we participated in and had a great time. My final comment is on a great employee. Luis E. Rodriguez was the most polite, nicest waiter we had both a Mizu and at Gabi. What a gentleman. He is not overly talkative, but truly an asset to their staff. When my kids saw him working, they would say, "look mom, there's the nice waiter." If you decide to go, I hope you have the pleasure of meeting him,

After being guests at the main resort Palma Real 12 times, and always enjoying our vacation immensely, we were excited to try the Reserve to compare. This time, we were travelling alone and looking for total luxury and relaxation. The Reserve did not dissapoint! We immediately met the lovely manager Isabel Gonzalez, who was amazing! She attended to our every need and was always available and present around the Reserve. We were very impressed with her attention to service and noticed the mutual respect and smiles from her staff. It was a pleasure to see a manager so hands on with her guests and staff!
The Reserve is a notch above the main resort. The service was unbelievable! Our pool attendants,Julio Moya and Santo Cornelio were there with our favourite drinks just when we were thinking about them. Afternoon appetizers were delicious and brought around to us. We didn't have to move for anything! The pools winding around the main pool area were private
and you could find a nook anywhere where you felt the resort was to yourself. All the pool loungers are padded and luxurious. The landscaping is beautifully maintained and immaculate. The music played around the resort is a soft Dominican jazz and so relaxing to listen to. We also enjoyed time at the Concierge pool and beach area with Francisco Estrella and Freddy Ramos. They are so upbeat and genuine in their pleasure to see you again. Even at the beach, they were always attending to your needs.

MEALS...We always enjoy the food at the Paradisus Palma Real and The Reserve was equally fresh and delicious! The morning buffet served all you could want and the view of the pool everyday was such a nice start to the day! I will say, the lunch buffet at the main resort had more selection available, but certainly you could still be satisfied with the Reserve offerings. We had great meals at Aqua and Ventos, always our favourites. Gabi Beach never disapoints with their lobster meals and the ambiance of eating by the beach. We tried the new Pallazzo restaurant in Royal Service. There was an 25.00pp upcharge, but the meal was great (Italian) and the room was beautifully appointed. On our last trip, Passions was the other upcharge restaurant available at 40.00pp. It also is a beautiful room, for a special dinner celebration.

ROOMS...The Reserve rooms were beautifully decorated with modern style. We loved our master suite...so much room and with 2 jacuzzis! It was like an apartment, just fabulous. Actually, the rooms were similar the main resort , just newer. We like to stay on the 3rd floor for a better view of everything.
At the Reserve you have access to the water ritual and the YHI Spa, which is heavenly. That was our spot at the end of every day to relax .It is truly beautiful in there. You must go and enjoy it!
STAFF...We had so much fun with our new friends every morning and evening meals. Philipe,Roberto,Leidy and Pedro were just so great. They work such long hours and so hard to make sure everything is todos bien! Philipe gave me spanish lessons daily! They were all sooo nice. The Dominican people are truly lovely and humble. The don't expect anything in exchange for their service. They are what keep us coming back every year and we are so happy to see that they are all still there each time. I think that says something great about Paradisus Palma Real and The Reserve. They retain their staff and they are all top notch. They all seem truly happy in their jobs, whatever they are.
This report is soo long, but I really needed to thank Isabel Gonzalez and Raphael Torres for continuing to provide us with their warm hospitality and welcome. We ALWAYS have an amazing time. We will be back in March with the rest of our extended family!

The resort was amazing the service was outstanding. The reserve rooms are definitely worth the money. Hamlet Rosa helped us every morning at breakfast and he was very attentive and made sure that everything was ok and he did a fantastic job. Also Felipe was fantastic at Aqua....he took great care of the family and even was very attentive with our son. Overall a fantastic value and stay.

This place is simply the best. First class service and atmosphere. And the dining is unreal. This was our 6th trip to the Dominican and our 3rd stay at The Reserve. Highly recommended! A special thank you to Hamlet Rosa, who treated us as family. Thank you!

My family and I visited Punta Cana for the first time this past April as guests at The Reserve. We fully enjoyed ourselves. The rooms were well appointed and maintained. The food was exceptional. It's worth noting Francois at the Hydro Grill made us feel right at home and always prepared fantastic meals. Luis, the bartender at the Gabi Grill made my seven year old specialty virgin drinks that he still raves about! the Kids Zone was awesome and the Yahii Spa made you feel like royalty....Bottom Line: if you're looking to relax in a family friendly environment, I couldn't imagine a better place. We're making arrangements to go back this spring!!

Just returned with my family from an AMAZING 7 day vacation at Palma Real and would highly recommend this resort, especially with families.

Before leaving, we were undecided about upgrading to the Reserve, but upon checking in, Mr. Beard applied our $200. room upgrade to the Reserve and we could not pass. It was money well spent. The Reserve offered a unique pool and additional restaurants not available to those staying at the resort. Likewise, the snack bar at the pool was a nice addition to the restaurants, as it allowed our daughters a tasty snack mid-afternoon and held them over until dinner (although someone needs to teach the chef how to make wings-the breading is thick cornmeal and nothing like wings found at your local watering hole).

The restaurants offered good dinners overall, with only one meal that was a complete disappointment. We ate at the Market Grill, and were served T-Bones that were no thicker than ¼” and the meat was almost impossible to cut, let alone consume (we learned that this restaurant was actually closing down and we ate their the last night of operation) Other meals at the various restaurants were well prepared and we enjoyed. The buffet is great for families, offering a huge assortment for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There are 2 made to order areas where the chefs will accommodate just about any request to prepare the offerings how you like them or even make something special if desired. The buffet at the Reserve is small, but has a premium offering of meats and dishes that we all enjoyed.

Of special note was the service provided by our waiter, Hamlet Rosa at the Reserve. We have eaten at many 5 star restaurants in NYC and around the world, and Hamlet missed his calling. He could easily work at one of the best restaurants and is quite polished to do so. He welcomed us with a huge smile every day and made our daughters feel special with his happy demeanor and willingness to always accommodate any special requests (why the Reserve restaurant does not offer cream cheese in the morning with their bagels and lox is a mystery but Hamlet somehow always had the cream cheese ready upon our return to the table from selecting our breakfast food). Likewise, he made our final dinner simply perfect at the Italian restaurant Aqua or final evening. He is clearly their finest waiter and we greatly appreciated everything he provided.

The concierge service at the Reserve is a nice touch. We had a great experience with Ms. Belliard, Ruquermin Vasquez and Alenys Martinez on several occasions. All were willing to assist in booking meals, water sports or providing suggestions on activities to do. We were somewhat surprised that the concierge “assigned” to us, Dalmy, continued to push the time share offering on us. Although we informed her we had no interest, she tried on several occasions to convince us to attend a breakfast with her in order to receive a free 7 day stay at the Palma. Likewise, when we declined, another gentleman dressed in all white with glasses near the buffet entrance took the lead and again tried to persuade/pressure us to attend another breakfast pitch. Later we learned that the 7 day offering does not include any meals or flights. Regardless, we were extremely annoyed that the time share was a primary focus and that the Palma Real would condone this, especially to the guests staying at the Reserve and after telling the employees that we had no interest. We were on vacation to relax, not be constantly bothered with this sales pitch.

The beach and pool could not have been better either. The pool is HUGE and our daughters made many friends during the week. Drinks flowed freely and were served within minutes of ordering. If you get to the pool in the early morning, there are a few “coconut” gardeners dressed in green who will be more than happy to climb the palm trees, cut down a coconut and cut it open for your drinking enjoyment. As with all of the employees, tipping is appreciated.

Although some of the reviews note poor food and rooms, we have nothing but great things to say about the entire establishment and employees (minus the Time share badgering). For the money, the Palma Real and the Dominican Republic is a great vacation spot. Upgrade to the Reserve, book your restaurant reservations your first day and enjoy your stay.
