First of all this resort is huge, and beautiful. I couldn’t believe the details that were put into this resort. The decorations and lighting were beautiful. With that being said the resort has room for improvements, but nothing that can’t be fixed with a little training.
Check-in: We had a group of 12 with 6 rooms; check-in was fairly smooth. We were given 6 rooms in the same building. We had booked Golf rooms which is what we received.
Rooms: First of all the Golf rooms are very nice (I loved the shower), with a beautiful view of the golf course. From the room it’s a 4 minute walk to the main building and a 6 minute walk to the beach. We looked into moving to a room closer to the pool, but those rooms were older had 2 double beds, had no view, had that musty tropical odor, and tub/showers that you needed to climb into so we kept what we had. I don't think they've been renovated yet. The walk did us good. The room had lots of drawer space and closets. The bed was as good as mine at home.
Restaurants: Because we had a large group we booked all of the reservations the first day. At first they made it seem like you could only make reservations for 4 nights, but that’s not the case. My favorite was the Spanish restaurant- order the prawns. Second was the Japanese the food was ok but the entertainment was great. Third/ fourth were the Steakhouse and the Mexican. I didn’t like what I ordered at the Italian neither did most of our group, and the Seafood restaurant was just ok. The buffets were very good, grilled lobster multiple times at lunch. If you want a relaxing lunch or dinner, go to the golf course HOYO 19, order the chicken cordon blue-one of the best I’ve ever had!
Housekeeping: Maid service for our room was good but others in our group never had clean towels, and lacked enough water for coffee in the morning. Calling for service never did much good. The first day at the pool the women’s bathroom had no toilet paper, I asked three times for paper they gave us paper towel 4 hours later I called the front desk, the man promised me that we would have paper in 30 minutes. An hour later I called again and they said they had nobody by the name???? So I found a manager and explain we didn’t have paper for 6 hours. He had paper within 15 minutes. Again a little training could go a long way.
Bar Service: They understand limited English and many times they were slow to wait on you. Tipping didn’t help much. So we stopped tipping as much as normal. We found a little bar in the kids section that we stopped at every day on our way back to the room. They were so friendly but they weren’t as busy as the pool bar was.
Beach: Every day they rake the beach with a tractor and a machine that picks up the seaweed. I loved how flat the beach is here, we had stayed 5 times about 5 miles down the beach and it’s not as flat there.
Normally you make friends with the staff after 11 days but that wasn’t the case this year. We were told that this is one of the best resorts but they lack the management to put it all together. Last year in March we stayed at the Majestic Elegance Club, in December we happened to walk up to the beach bar at the Majestic (we came back with our kids, and we were staying at a different resort) the bartenders still remembered us. They gave us water and said when will you be back to the Majestic….This March I can honestly say nobody will remember us. Again a little training will go a long way. Would I go back again, maybe.
