Our first issue with Dolphin Explorer was that it took 7 hours total for a trip that should have at a maximum taken 4 hours including the drive there and back. 7 hours is entirely too long for a 30 minute dolphin swim. Overall, the workers were extremely unorganized and it seemed as though they wanted to stretch out our time so we got our money’s worth. They did a poor job of giving directions where we should go, generally stood around a lot, and played all of the instructional videos at the same exact time so you couldn’t hear them. Our bus driver had a full bus on the way there and out, but for some reason had to stay and help the other buses fill up.
Our second and largest issue is that they stole money from our wallets. We were told to put our belongings in a locker in order to swim with the dolphins. We swam with the dolphins and retrieved our things from the locker. I opened my wallet in order to get a snack and found that there was no money in it where there had been $60. I know that it was stolen, because I intentionally put money in my wallet before I left so that I could buy pictures of us with the dolphins. When we confronted the staff they swore that there was only one key to the locker and that they had a guard watching it. It’s hard to believe that a locker company would only sell one key to a locker that actually had two locks on it. What would happen if someone lost their key in the ocean? In addition, they claimed that there were security cameras. Video can always be edited to show a different story.
Two days after our visit to Dolphin Explorer, we discovered $120 had been removed from my husband’s wallet. We hadn’t noticed earlier, because we were at an all inclusive resort and didn’t have to use any 20s.
