We had the best time at Vik Cayena. Melanie at the front desk was so helpful along with the entire staff. We had such a great time that 4 out of the 8 of us want to come back within the next two years. Great relaxing time. Pedro the chef and the entire wait staff was incredible. Thanks so much for a wonderful vacation!!!!!

My Girl & I just got back, went feb 1st to feb 8th, It was perfect, smaller more quiet resort, private beach, weather was amazing. I've been to Hawaii 4-5 times, this was just as nice. The entire staff was very accomadating, Room was very clean, food was good, lots to choose from.

We just returned from a thoroughly delightful week at Cayena Beach Resort. The staff were very pleasant, willing to help and almost everyone spoke 4 or 5 languages. The room was very clean and comfortable. Back and front porches. The resort is right on the beach and this part of the resort is for Cayena guests only, so it is not crowded at all. The only problem is you have to get up first thing in the morning to reserve lounge chairs that have an umbrella. Cayena has its own restaurant and bar for breakfast and lunch. For dinner you have to go to one of the restaurants shared with Arena Blanca, the other part of the resort. The buffet has an enormous amount of food, something for everyone. The food was not gourment, but most of it was tasty. The Italian restaurant and Mexican restaurants probably had the best food. The meal at the international restaurant was disappointing and the servers were not very friendly. There were many activities you could participate in, but many of them at night were for the younger crowd. But if you went to do a lot of nothing but spend time on the beach or at the pool, like we did, that didn't matter. The spa was a bit run down. The property was laid out nicely, but the landscaping wasn't kept up and some of the rooms had signs on them that said out of order. There were no showers to use after you had your services, which I would have appreciated. The treatment itself was nicely done and the masseuse was very pleasant and did a lovely job. If you are looking for shops, there are only two on site -a boutique and gift shop. Prices are a little high. But if you walk down the beach past the neighboring resort there are shacks on the beach where local merchants sell their wares. You have to be comfortable bartering and then you can get some good deals. You can arrange excursions through the resort. We went on one excursion called Reef Explorer, which was a half day and was a more laid back trip, not a party boat, which we didn't want. They took you out on the water to an area that had a dock area with chaise lounges, a common area on pilings where the bar and snacks were. You could also just relax in chairs there or have a foot massage. There were also 4 tented areas where you could get a full 15-minute massage. Then you could snorkel, float on mats in the water, paddle surf, and swim with sting rays and sharks if you choose. It was really nice and a different type of relaxation. Met some really nice people from different parts of the world. Most of all the beach and water were exquisite. We missed the blizzard on the east coast while we were there! Overall and lovely experience and we came back relaxed and refreshed.

Room Tip: Some rooms has two twin beds pushed together. Make sure you ask for at least two double beds.

Jan20-27/2014. Not sure where all these bad reviews come from. Great trip from beginning to end. We have spent an amazing week at this resort with my husband and his parents. We were located in block 4 on the 2nd floor with ocean view. The rooms were very clean and spacious. Everyone always seemed ready to help and very happy. The sand is very soft and the water is absolutley breath taking! The selection of food is fantastic and delicious (take my word for it, my husband is a chef) The men have to wear long pants in all of the restaurants but the buffet. At the lobby you'll find two cappuccino machines, the best cappuccinos and mochaccinos I ever had. You'll be hooked too.The workers on the grounds are always working to keep everything neat and tidy. They always seemed willing to please and I truly believe that attitude has a lot to do with outcome. The beach was fantastic, quite and restful, not to mention the perfect weather the entire time we were there. There are a lot of shade, but you do need to get up early (7am ish) to get a good spot.
There is a private part to the resort (cayena) which is more expensive, and not worth the update the regular rooms are nicer. The only difference are the furniture and more drinks are stocked in the mini fridge. We did the snorkeling trip, which was fantastic than had lunch on the beach (recomend it) We also tried the parasaling, what an experience have to say. The only down side that it is only 15 min long. Feel free to bargain the price down with the water sport guys, they will give deals. There are sale guys right by the towle place, we have not strucked deals with them, they a bit suspicious about how quick they change their prices when you try to decline first. Our tour guide said they only suppose to sell horseback riding. To be on the safe side buy your excursions from your tour guide or the guys from the beach. There is a beach market to the left on the beach, the guys are not aggressive or try to push you too hard to buy something, once you say "no" they'll leave you alone. However they sound really funny when they try to convince you that theire stuff is cheap- they only say: cheapy-cheapy. You can bargain with them as well. I sure do recomend this place for those who are not party animals. This is a very friendly, family, I wanna get away from the city type of resort. For all who seek true relaxation.Enjoy your stay.

We spent our 10 days holiday in Cayena Beach in January 2014. First of all I have to say, that all the professional photos are realistic, this hotel is really beautiful. The rooms are vers spacious, the beds are comfortable! The food was excellent, none of us had a belly-ache. There is a wide range of food, drinks, and coctails, which are all inclusive and very delicious. The stuff was vers friendly and helpful. They speaks english very good, so as german and french. We had a 5 years old boy in our group, who enjoyed the trip very much. One thing has to be added as well: the medical care is very expensive, it is better not to have any problem there.
This trip was special for us, because my boyfriend proposed me, and I said YES! Now we are engaged and we are going to tell our grandchildren, that we got engaded in the paradise...

My wife and I just spent a wonderful week at the Vik Cayena, the staff was very friendly and professional. Our room was clean and comfortable. The food at the buffet was good as was the food at the Mexican restaurant. The beach was spectacular. All the drinks at the different bars were great, the best mojitos can be found at the main lobby bar. The only negatives we had were minor the disco open too late 11pm and there is no food after 930pm. Great place.

My family and I returned to Cayena November 22nd through December 6th. We had a room on the 3rd floor (beach front) that had spectacular views of the ocean. Our room was cleaned to perfection everyday. I recommend tipping the maid a few bucks each day.

The food at all the restaurants was great! The food was always good, but the food was even better this trip. All of the staff members treat you like family, which is what makes this resort a wonderful place to stay.

The resort grounds are very tropical, unlike other resorts. Trust me, you can't go wrong with this resort. Because this is a smaller resort, you will meet a lot of people and make lifetime friendships from all over the world.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 2nd or 3rd Floor!
