“the best holiday ever”

This place is amazing. Anyone who has anything bad to say about this place is just a stuck up rat. Everything about the place was wonderful. The staff were so nice and friendly, food was lovely, the room was perfect and the beach and pools were amazing!!!!

I went for my 21st birthday and had the best day of my life. Me and my boyfriend done all of the excursins aswell - swimming with the dolphins, carribean festival, swimming with sharks and stingrays, went to saona island and we got our own speedboat. Would like to say aswell that our rep Lucie was fantastic. she really helped us out a lot.

I would also advise that you go to the spa, it was a bit expensive but really worth the money!

We traveled with our 2 girls ages 5 and 8, our brother and parents. As a group of 7 we never had issues with any aspect of the hotel.

Upon check-in we were given adjoining rooms as requested. Our room had 2 double beds where our parents had the other room with a king bed. This made traveling with the girls better because they could go back and fourth. The rooms were clean and kept that way throughout our stay. We did tip housekeeping daily. We were on the 3rd floor of building 8 which was perfect. We overlooked the world cafe and coco cafe and had a tree there for privacy. Never really smelt any food, due to the direction of the wind. All in all it was a great spot.

Food has been summarized in detail in many other posts and we am not going to dive into the details but our favorite was the Seaside Grill. It was open to a fabulous view of the ocean and the food was prepared and cooked to specifications. We went there twice. Japanese was a good experience you don't want to pass up, but we would only do it once. We really enjoyed the food at the french restaurant for our adults only dinner. Mexican for me was just OK. We found the food at the buffet to be hot and quite tasty, and there is plenty to switch it up all week long. We found the barefoot grill on the beach convenient for that afternoon snack after a big breakfast. Can't miss out on the Coco cafe, awesome coffee there (comparable to Starbucks!!!!) it was a hit with our group.

The grounds were clean and well maintained. Everything was within a few minutes walking distance, which is great is you have kids. The beach seemed to be raked every couple of hours to control the seaweed being washed up. Walking the beach is OK. The Grand Oasis is to the right, and Blau Natural is to the left, but after that it is just empty space, so there are not too many other resorts to look at, the beach was not over-crowded. We spent most of our time by the pool, and yes the early risers get the loungers. With the kids having us up at 7 this was never a problem for us.

We were all treated well by all the staff at the hotel in the food, bar, and waitress. Simon was excellent serving at break feast and drinks on the beach. The best part of this resort has to have been the entertainment crew. Ray and Richard lead a team of great entertainment staff. Marlenny, Jose, Julio, JC and Willy are some of our favorites. Ray was especially good with our girls and made our stay at the resort truly memorable. We will all miss Ray, he is a class act. All the staff are with you from 9am till midnight ensuring you are having a great time. The activities are all well organized and many people participate. Pool volleyball, beach volleyball, water polo, water aerobics, bingo and all sorts of other fun activities to keep you having fun. Get to know this crew they will make you trip truly memorable.

If you are looking for a place to be active, have a good time and get involved this is the place for you. If you like to keep to yourself and want a secluded vacation, look for an Adults Only resort. This is truly a family resort.

Now for some of the improvement areas. Although the rooms were very clean and well decorated the bathrooms shower / toilette area could use some updating. we felt the lobby bar could use seating at the bar. My thoughts are that this bar would be better situated in the center of the lobby having all 4 sides with bar stools. we really missed sitting at a bar at this resort. It's a great place to meet new people. My final area that we thought could be improved was the theater. we felt the theater was to segregated from the rest of the resort. The theater lobby was nice, but was rarely used. The theater itself was quite large, but the seating was not somewhere you felt comfortable for an entire show. My suggestion would be have wide comfortable lounge seating with tables to set drinks on with servers to serve them to you. The shows were all well worth seeing baring these little things.

All in all this is an excellent resort with great family value. If taking the kids again, we would definitely look at going back.

We arrived at the hotel around noon, and was only brought to our room at 3:30pm, we requested an ocean view on the second floor. When we arrived to our room in building 9, we were not impressed to say the leased, the room was extremely damp and smelt bad. The telephone did not work, and bed felt wet, and our view was the roof of the kitchen, not exactly what we planned for. We paid $3,271.00 for two at a 4.5 - 5 star hotel. We requested another room, so they moved us to building 2, this room was also damp, although the view was somewhat better, so we turned on the air to clear the dampeness. Later on that day, we noticed the grat over the bathroom sink leaking water, so we asked that they take a look, they corrected the situation but the dampest would not leave and the sheets felt wet. So, we went back to the front desk to request another room, this time we checked it out before moving again. This room was in building 1, on the first floor, as soon as I walked in I could smell an odor, the toilet was leaking and the balcony was facing the service area.....no way were we to move in there, it was also damp like the other rooms. We went to speak to the manager, and had to negotiate to move again, they have an upgraded room available at the cost of $150 or 80 US per day extra depending on the room. So in all three buildings have been upgraded and the others not, but they are charging you more per day, this is unacceptable. The hotel was most likely rated based on the upgraded rooms and not the others.

I spoke to other people that stayed in buildings 7 and 9 and they had to fumigate the building for bugs and in one room there was so much mould it spread all over their clothes and luggage.

Other than that the rest of the hotel was nice, the food was ok.

Not impressed, will never go back.

While the resort setting is beautiful, the rooms are adequately proportioned, there are numerous leisure activities, and the support staff was very friendly and professional, we unfortunately encountered some serious problems. First and foremost, medical supplies (over 150 lbs! ) brought by many in our group for Haiti earthquake victims were almost not delivered in a timely manner even though we were promised based on several email communications with resort mangers prior to our arrival that arrangements with the Red Cross would be made. When we arrived nothing had been arranged and no mechanisms were in place to either collect, store, or deliver the supplies. Sadly, after almost 3 days of exhaustive efforts on OUR parts, multiple phone calls to the Red Cross in Santo Domingo (who stated urgent need for the supplies) the resort managers reluctantly provided a driver for us to deliver the supplies to a Red Cross station only 50 min away. Second, after waiting over an hour for our room upon check- in we were placed in an a room that was unbearably contaminated with mold and we had to move to another. Third, I suffered along with other guests in my party from apparent food poisoning. We all came down with the same symptoms- nausea, vomiting and diarrhea after eating the same food at the same place. Lastly, upon check-in we were highly pressured to upgrade to the preferred status for over $100/night more even though we already paying a substantial amount for the accommodations we booked.

This was a beautiful resort. My mother husband and I went for a winter getaway. We went through Apple vacations. They had an apple rating of 6 golden apples. While the resort was nice it wasn't a 6 golden apple resort.
The food wasn't inedible but it was far from good. We ate in the buffet as well as specialty restaurants and didn't get anything we enjoyed eating. The servers didn't come around as much as you needed. While at the pool or beach very seldom did anyone come around to get your drink order.
My husband and I got a couples massage and enjoyed that thoroughly. The staff at the spa did a wonderful job!
While we all had a great time this resort was kind of in the middle of the scale for us. I don't think I'll be returning.

My wife and 2 kids (3 years and 10 months) spent 4 nights at the resort. The resort does have its good and bad, but would not say it is a GREAT resort.

The good parts of the resort were the grounds, pool, entertainment and the service. The grounds of the resort were very well maintained and very clean. They have one big pool and another pool for Preferrend Club Rooms. Both pools were clean and was never crowded. There were plenty of beach chairs and lounges were available to bask in the sun. There were a lot of umbrellas too if you don't like to sun directly on you. The resort also made it an effort to entertain its guests throughout the day. They distribute flyers at the end of each day describing the events for the next day. Though we never got to go to these events personally, I am assuming they were good. Lastly, the service was very good and the people working there will go out of their way to help you.

Now comes the bad part. The resort seems to have a very bad mold problem and the food is mediocre.

We had reserved a Tropical Deluxe room and we were very happy when we checked in. However, as we got to explore the room, we felt the room was very musty and the curtains had a very bad odor. Since my son was 10 months old we asked for a crib. They delivered it to us immediately and we decided to take a nap as we got there at 1pm. That night my son started throwing up and had trouble breathing.

Luckily, they have a on site doctor and we took him to the doctor at 2 in the morning. They charge you $125 for the visit. In case of a real emergency you would have to be airlifted to the nearest hospital. Fortunately, my son was not required to go to the hospital and was given some anitbiotics. The next day we decided to upgrade to a Honeymoon Suite which was in the Preferred Club area for $100 more a night. This room was much cleaner and more spacious. My kids had more room to play and the room was not musty. What we realized was that rooms that do not get sun light and are not propperly cross ventilated become damp because of the humidity and thereby leading to mold growth. We later checked my son's crib bedding and found it to moldy throughout below the clean white sheets. This must have caused an allergic reaction on him.

As for the food, all I can say is that it is edible. Don't expect too much from the food. My daugther ended up getting sick and being down throughout the 5 days we were there. The reason we came to this resort was for a wedding and a lot of the guests in our wedding party got sick. The groom's father almost did not make it to the wedding because he got it the worst.

Though the resort is good in some aspects, it definitely needs to clean up its act with the mold issue and the food.

The Dreams is a beautiful hotel that is very well run and we were satisfied with our stay. We booked the Preferred Club room, which was absolutely worth the extra money. There is a private pool, private beach with a waitress taking and delivering drink orders, jacuzzi and clubhouse that serves premium liquor, has free internet access and is stocked with snacks throughout the day. Staff was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. The rooms are nice, they stock the minibar daily (included in the package), provide turn down service, and offer free 24 hour room service. They offer many included activities throughout the day, a schedule is delivered to your room each night. The food was good, we found the buffet food to be better prepared than the a la carte restaurants. Disco was OK, but the resort is very nice at night with live music and bars set up around the pool. I would highly reccommend this resort.
