Our 4th visit to this great hotel, and once again we loved it.Can't say anything bad about the place, but a special mention to the wonderful staff, who put you first all the time.Thomas Cook however.......Check in at the airport, they try to get you to upgrade,at £90 per person. On board they try to charge you £21 for six small cans of beer! Then on the way back they ask you for charity donations! Not good, but Dominicana is fabulous, don't be put off by dodgy airlines!

This was my first time in the Dominican Republic. My family and I stayed at this hotel for 16 days. The service was great. The food was very good and the rooms were clean and comfortable. They accommodated all our needs. The entertainment was amazing - Star Friends ROCK!!! Pantera and Alejandro - We love you!!!!!!!! These guys made the whole experience complete with their non-stop entertainment. Evey minute of every day they were up to something along with their crew. They made us laugh so much - SO MUCH! I can't describe it. you just have to see them in action to understand.

We were there on 4th of July this year - and let me tell you that Iberostar was gracious enough to host a 4th of July party for the Americanos of our resort. They sent invitations to our room, and when we arrived to the party (at the Rock and Roll Cafe) I was blown away. They went above and beyond to make sure that we celebrated the 4th in style! balloons... a band... Harley Davidson riders... special red/white/blue cakes and deserts, our own special buffet with American style yummy foods, they had characters like superman, batman, Michael Jackson, even a statue of liberty walking around for pictures! BRAVO!!! BRAVO!!! BRAVO Iberostar for making us feel at home and respecting our culture and tradition - that was very special.

I think that the only complaint that I would have was the fact that it was so crowded - not that we had to stand in line for anything! But to be able to reserve a chair by the pool or the beach, we had to wake up early and reserve them - by placing a towel on the chair! - otherwise you would be without a chair for the rest of the day. That's all.

We would definitely go back to this resort. Definitely!

Room Tip: When you ask for a roll-away bed... they will give you a real bed - with legs, a mattress box and...

We are from Canada, stayed at this resort for 2 weeks from July 8 2013- July 21 2013, We had 2 rooms 3822 and 3828.
Check in - was long, we had to hang out for 2 hours before getting our suit. Felix was a person who constantly talked on the phone ignoring us.
THE SUIT - old, small bath no shower, the room was OK We didn't had enough bottled water and only 2 towels, no bathrobe or slippers were provided.
The Resort - Looks like it was a very nice resort 20 years ago... now days it is worn down place with cracks everywhere and dirty spots.
The food- just OK, Same food every day. Hotel staff eat in the same area were tourists ONLY supposed to eat.
The Service- TERRIBLE ! Especially guest service, so hard to get a la cart reservation. Never been to a place with worse service than this one. Looks loke a Spanis speaking guests have a priority to be served first. The only friendly people of the resort are the cleaning staff and gardeners, they are the only one saying "OLA" and smiling. The rest ignores you, especially management. The waiters are the worse one, seems like they making you a favor when they bring you a glass of water or coffee, the only nice services we got was at the Steak restaurant, and in Punta Cana buffet. The worse was in the La Sibilla restaurant, not only the air conditioner was not working well when we got it but the waiter was rude to us, when we asked a question about a dish on the menu he was almost screaming on us ...
Entertainment - just OK nothin special
Pools- old, worn down, not very clean.
Beach -nice, not the best one I have been to, but is ok m however it's a shame that my son had to get up at 6 am to catch almost last spot under a Palapasin shadow
Checkout: the guy at the front desk tried to scam us !!! As I was giving back the room cards he quietly said you need to pay for safe 2 $ per day -even thought I was in a suit where the safes are keyless ( on code) and it is included in the package. I told him i was not told that i need to pay when i check in but he insisted and we paid..
Conclusion - If you looking for a good vacation this is not the place. I will never go back to this resort. The quality doesn't match the price. One thing to mention, main buffet has no air conditioner, so it's not very pleasant to be there especially during a Lunch/dinner time.

This was our second time at an Iberostar resort; the first time being Jamaica. The resort deserves five stars with regard to the grounds and about 90% of the staff who work hard to keep the guests entertained and their grounds immaculate; even the serving staff in the buffets interact and entertain the guests. There's alot of variety foodwise, some places better than others; the beach grill (which is the steak house at night) was very good. Our dinner at the seafood resaurant was good as well as the paella cooked by the pool. I enjoyed the Boogie Nights show. There's a shop by the pool where a gentleman named Eduardo handpaints t-shirts; we bought two, he does a nice job and is a very humble man.

When we checked in I had to call down because there was hair all over the place; on the bed, on the chair, in the shower and on the bathroom floor. They sent the housekeeping manager Clary up who asked the housekeeper what happend; she told Clary the room was perfect and she didnt see anything wrong. Clary had her reclean the room and followed up with us the next day as well which I appreciated. A couple of days later this same housekeeper forgot washcloths; we had just retruned from an excursion and my daughter was not feeling well, she was already in the shower washing her hair when she realized there were no washcloths. I called down again to complain and after 35 minutes received them. I asked to speak to a manager more than once and only got the run around from the front desk person. I believe as a patron of an establishment if you have an issue and want to speak to a manager you should be able to.

By the time I left this resort I observed that management appears to be nowhere to be found and that they hide behind the front desk staff. Star Friends are at the resort 12-16 hours a day; even though they seem to be enjoying their jobs you almost feel guilty and sorry seeing them there all day; them and the service people are what keeps this place running smoothly. When you see this you feel as if the workers are being exploited; for this reason and the fact that you see no management I most likely will not stay at another Iberostar resort. I should note that we did see the doctor on staff many times interacting with guests.

I was amazed that people do not tip; it's hard to tip when you have three and four people serving you but the majority of people did not tip their servers. These people work hard to maintain this resort and should be tipped even if it's $1.00 for alcoholic drinks and a couple in the restaurants; they only make about $250US a month; no wonder so many of them hate tourists. My daughter also felt it was demeaning that people in housekeeping wore the "little maid headband/piece"; not just at the resort but also at the airport.

Dear guest,
On behalf of Mrs. Helena Santos, hotel Manager, we thank you choosing Iberostar Dominicana for your vacations and for publishing a review about your stay.
On the one hand, we appreciate your positive lines referring the excellent service of our staff, the variety of our gastronomy and entertainment as well as the beauty of our premises. As you have experienced before, in Iberostar we want our valuable costumers to “enjoy being a Star”.
On the other hand, we extend our apologies for the breakdown in the service as refers to Housekeeping. Our Housekeeping Manager has been notified your unpleasant experience during your stay which lead you not to enjoy your whole stay. Likewise, we are very concern to read our Management team not being reachable. Our Managers on duty can be seen walking all around our grounds and asking our costumers how their holidays are (it is in fact a common comment in Tripadvisor reviews). However, being human being they also need holidays and breaks to rest from their long day’s works. We extend our apologies as our General Manager is on holidays and our Manager Assistant was at the break when you wanted to talk to them for the Housekeeping service. Our Front Desk and Guest Service Managers are well trained to work with issues as towel missing.
Please feel free to contact us in case you decide to give us another visit.

We stayed from July 8-21 for our honeymoon.
The positives:
The beaches themselves were gorgeous with very nice shaded cabana palm trees, very well maintained in terms of clean beaches- no trash, empty cups etc. Fresh clean towels to trade in for were always available, and drink service never took more than a couple minutes, with very nice and fun bartenders. We stayed in a villa style room which we really enjoyed and had excellent maid service- Marilyn our house keeper was extremely friendly and kept us stocked with waters and fresh towels, never worried or anything being stolen or safety issues. We did 4 excursions: zip lining (awesome!), the reef explorer (very worth the $) the dolphin explorer (definitely a highlight!!) and the happy hour cruise- it rained during the trip, but the staff were so awesome and made the trip so much fun with ample rum drinks and mamajuana shots! We loved the abundance of fresh fruit, especially pineapple at every meal, absolutely delicious!!
The negatives:
We experienced some very rude service from the front desk who blatantly ignored requests for a laundry bag (4 times requested) and refused to help us reach out to our travel agent about a pick up time for the shuttle, repeatedly telling me I had to go to my room to call out, luckily a bell man saw how rude the desk was to us and within 5 minutes had the agent on the phone and cleared up the confusion. The front dest never apologized. We also would get ignored half way through purchasing wi-fi for the front desk to help any one besides us (who was speaking spanish) we felt very discriminated against for not being native spanish speakers by many employees. The gift shop was also a disaster- the employees there were completely incompetent, we were forced to wait 5 minutes+ multiple times when trying to purchase basic things (waters, soda etc) so they could count EVERY peso in the drawer...no idea why they had to do that before helping us at random times...
VERY bad:
The dining experience was EXTREMELY misleading. They advertise having 8 restaurants etc. This is NOT true. There are 4 themed restaurants but you are not guaranteed to ever even eat in one of them!! We were there 13 days and only got 4 meals at those restaurants, however the first FULL WEEK we were there they couldn't get us into ANY of the restaurants so we had to eat at the buffet, this restriction was not advertised anywhere when we booked with them and we were extremely disappointed with the dining experience.

Room Tip: The upper level villas are wonderful

We stayed at this hotel 7/13-7/19/13. Rooms were average as far as size and the types of linens. Nothing plush, but what is more important to us is cleanliness. After all we only use our room to shower, change clothes and sleep. The room was clean and updated, our house keeper was very attentive and left us new towel art daily. This is all inclusive so our refrigerator was stocked with soda and bottled water along with canned beer. The hotel is phenomenal! All the grounds are well kept and "groomed" daily. The staff are happy and very helpful. Many speak several languages. We commented how there was not a single staff member that appeared to be unhappy about what they do. There are plenty of lounge chairs available on the beach for use, however if you want a tiki hut on the front row you need to stake your claim early morning. Food is good, plentiful and always available somewhere. The cuisine follows more of a European and Caribbean flare than American but that's ok because after all you are in the DR! The pool is huge! They have activities scheduled all day from aerobics to beach volleyball and although we didn't travel with small children there was lots of activities for them to do as well. For USA travelers there is no need to exchange currency as US dollars are readily accepted. If you change currency to pesos at the hotel they will not change it back to dollars. From what we experienced Iberostar has some of the best beach area, lots of sand and room.

Room Tip: There are only a select few rooms with a good view of the ocean but we enjoyed viewing the ocean in...
