“Great break from life!”

I was so worried because of the negative reviews but I was so shocked when we arrived! Some greeted us and took us to check in where we were offered to upgrade and after a little dealing we upgrade for a great rate! Royal Service is worth the extra cost! My boyfriend and I were whisked to our room and given a quick tour of our room and all the great benefits of Royal Service.
The room was beautiful and yes the bed is a little firm but I did not mind because at the end of the day you are so sleepy from all the fun.
The food was pretty good but we only are at Gabi because there were a great amount of choices both a la cart and buffet. Gabi is beautiful and they even put on some performances while eating.
The beach was amazing with the umbrellas and bed. Yes there is some sea grass but a girl who swam her whole like in California oceans with the crazy seaweed it was no big deal. The free kayaking was in the center between the royal service beach and the tropical beach. It is very easy to find. We were never bothered about the excursions. There is a little bar at the royal service beach which was so nice. The only things is the tropical/caribe beach had volleyball and botci ball which we would walk down to use. Bring lots of sunscreen!
The drinks in royal service are better than the regular sections with a large variety of very good quality alcohol.
Gabi pool is so beautiful and relaxing but also can become lively depending on the crowd.
My boyfriend is not an easy pleaser and he was happy the entire trip. Also there is a guy who sells cigars on the topical lobby side where he has fresh rolled dominican cigars that smell amazing for 5 dollars. The people were great and so was the facilities! We would recommend this place!

From the moment we arrived we were treated so nice VIPs.The resort is Beautiful and huge.Our room was centrally located build 29.Next to the beach,spa and pools.Lush tropical gardens,Flamingos in the water and peacocks walking the grounds.A choo choo that picks you up and takes you everywhere aound the resort.The front desk manager Quico Polanco is great!! Ruth from the beach restaurant was so nice always helpfull always smiling.Make reservations at the restaurants right away.All the restaurants were really good except El Guarapo. We didnt care for that one. Went on 2 differant dune buggie excursions. They were great. Giancarlos helped us out with the excursions. One of the excursions went to Hoyo Azul & Juanillo Beach. A MUST SEE.Amazing and Beautiful.My husband went on The Flying Boat. OMG. Something to definatly do if your a thrill seeker.Resort is set on Bavaro Beach considered one of the top 10 beaches.We loved it here. We definatly recommend it to everyone!!

Gisele & Esther at a bar were amazing waitresses. Made sure I had everything I needed. It was at a lounge, forgot the name but they work together. Can't be hard to find. Esther especially, excellent excellent waitress

Stayed at this hotel twice (1st in 2011 and again June 2013). The second trip was to attend a wedding or else I would not have returned. The facility is beautiful in terms of appearance and landscaping is great. The rooms are ok but both times I had to upgrade my room (costing more $), just to have a bug-free room. The food is an entirely different experience, and not a good one. 1/2 of the wedding attendees were sick by the second day (major stomach issues) and the remainder succumbed upon returning home. They served warm sushi (which I did not eat but plenty of other guests did), and food was not kept at correct and/or consistent temps. The staff was rude at times and seemed to be bothered if you wanted cold milk. The ONLY time that the food was good/safe, the staff was nice and the alcohol selection was decent was during the wedding & reception that we attended. I would not recommend this hotel.

Just got back from our 6 day trip with family and best friends. It was awesome!!!! The guys at the beach by the Agora Bar Buffet area made our vacation and kept us busy with their exellent music, dancing and aerobics lessons. They were so personable and funny. They also entertain you at the pool with water aerobics and other games. These same guys also entertain you in the evening and have a show every night. Jan Luis, you are a character, thank you for a great time. "its Mamma Juana time here". Jhonatan Montero, thanks for the yoga and aerobics and Rofehio Martio, thanks for the music......are the 3 main guys taking care of the beach entertainment. All of the kids enjoyed them as well. You guys rock! :)
Our bartenders Dario Vargas and Andres Rivera from the Agora Bar took care of every day, as well as our server Algenis Lamauty. Thank you all for making our vacation special and memorable. Anybody who can keep up with us is alright by me.

Room Tip: Closer to the beach the better.

My husband and I had a great time in Punta Cana at the Melia Caribe Tropical, our only complaint is how large the resort is. It took 10-15 minutes for us to walk from our room to the pool/beach. There was a lot of restaurants to choose from which was nice, BUT make a reservation RIGHT away in the morning or days in advance, otherwise you're stuck with the 9:45-10:00 PM slot which is pretty late for dinner! We loved the Avenue Bar #1! we had Gregorio Decena (Greg) as our bartender each night and he was absolutely awesome, he made every night a party and our drinks were the best. He made fancy chocolate cocktails for me and those strong drinks for my husband - couldn't have asked for a better bartender. Overall, we had a lovely time.

Room Tip: Get the royal service - we didn't and we wish we would have.

We just got back from Punta Cana and my wife and I both felt the same that this vacation was an overall 5.5 maybe 6 out of 10. Starting with the transport from the airport, we were drugged by a laugage man to our transport representative and from him to 3 different drivers when finally we were on the bus the driver went to look for more passengers and left us waiting in the heat with the kids. When we checked in to the hotel we met with a guy that was nice but later on we found out that he was trying to sale us a vacation/ time share, I was pissed. The cleaning of the room was a complete failure, our cleaning lady got into to our room without knocking around 5 a clock on day 2 to ask if we want service, we asked to come back around 6pm while we are going to be at dinner and when we got back around 11pm nothing has been done... Poor service.
You can still find some good things there like the restaurants not the buffet (very simple).

we gave it a try this year but I guess nothing can top Disney cruises as a all inclusive vacation.

Concerning to the cleaning in your room, first; the cleaning is make everyday in the hours of 8 AM to 5PM.
