I have been to Melia in Punta Cana 5 times and just booked another trip next month. It is one of my top two places in the Caribbean....just beautiful...tropical...great selection of restaurants at the all inclusive property...I have never had a bad meal at any of the restaurants that I have experienced. The beach is gorgeous..pool is one of the prettiest I have ever seen....rooms are comfortable and spacious and clean. It is a huge property but they provide transportation if you don't want to walk the property...but I love to walk, so it is not a problem for me. I would highly recommend this property if you are traveling to the Dominican Republic.

Because we love this resort we decided to give a special treat to Nancy"s daughter, husband & 3 grandchildren (ages 6,9,12) and take them to our home away from home. We had Johnny look after our room request in Royal service for a 1 bedroom master suite & adjoining Master suite. When we arrived everything was ready for us. There was plenty of room for the 7 of us .
Our family was very impressed with the service they received at Melia. The royal service staff attend to every need. With our grandchildren being new travellers ..Miguel & everyone at the Gabi restaurant made sure that everyone had food that they liked..like Claire (6 yrs old) Plain burger fries & buffet.... We had many great family meals as the food is excellent & everyone has enough choice to find something they will enjoy. Pablo & all the guest service staff could not do enough & were always available to help.. They are just a phone call away to guide & assist. Like when the children wanted to go see gardeners cut down coconuts..they just called & were picked up & taken to where this was happening on the resort..a special memory they will not forget. Pablo heard The Grandparents were babysitting so mom & day could go out by themselves fora date night and he made sure they had dinner reservations & made a special pick-up to take them to dinner. He arrive with a horse & carriage to take the parents to dinner, everyone was impressed, then he said for us to go get a drink & they would be back to make sure the children had a ride & tour as well...service above & beyond our expectations.
The pools, staff, gardens made this family vacation so GREAT!!! The family will have so many memories . They have made great friends with many staff & we all look forward to many more trips to Melia.. Our sincerest Thanks to all our special friends at Melia...we consider the staff family.. To all our Melia family see you again soon.....why would we go anywhere else!!!

Booked my vacation thru Travelocity, after reading the reviews on tripadvisors, I was a little apprehensive of staying at the resort. My experience with the Melia Caribe Tropical was great (Dec. 4th -8th). The grounds are magnificent and well kept. My only true complaint would be that the facility is enormous. Either you are going to be at one end close to the restaurants or at the other end close to the beach, you decide which is more important to you. I preferred the beach. We were in Bldg 10 which was close to the beach, Spa/Gym, and one of the open restaurants. A few things that will make your trip great. A little Spanish goes a long way. Make your dinner reservations with the kiosk. Have patients with the trans that transport you throughout the facility. The frequency picks up later in the week. The beach was great, plenty of activities to do. If you have kids, they have all kinds of stuff to keep them occupied. The MJ Experience show on Tuesday night was hilarious, the break dancers were awesome at the end of the show. Food was good, offered a lot of variety. When we didn't like what was at the specialty restaurants we would go eat at the main buffet (International). We did not do the Royal Service and still felt the same warmth, friendliness and hospitality from the staff. My only true complaint is that when calling guest services it took too long to fulfill request. I needed an extension cord for my breathing machine and I did not get it after requesting it twice. Need sheets changed on 1 of the days and did not get done. Outlets are across the room, so if you have machines that need to be bedside, bring your cord. Bring plenty of bug spray (mosquitoes were on the attack). I would recommend this resort, again it is what you make it. After a few drinks it won't matter anyway.

My son and daughter in law were married at Melia Caribe Tropical in Punta Cana over Thanksgiving week 2012. The entire trip and experience was first class! I want to thank the entire staff for their excellent service. I would like to give special thanks to Pablo Martinez Garcia who began the trip as our "butler" and ended the trip as a new friend. Pablo took care of all of us, which in total was 51 people. His attention to detail and his recommendations of activies and things to do and see were spot on. We traveled with 13 children under the age of 14 and Pablo gave special attention to the smaller ones taking them for rides and showing them the resort. I would also like to thank Luis Sena, Evelyn Cuito, David Luis, Jose Flores and Johnny Onorio who were the attentive bar staff at the Gabi. I spent the week with these fine people. I enjoyed each and everyone of them. They are all hard working individuals and are excellent at what they do! They truly made my stay enjoyable. Another one of our "butlers" was Abel Nunez he took excellent care of many of the people in our party as well and we consider him a friend! He arrange a private romantic dinner for one of my daughters and her fiance on the beach at sunset and provide a horse and carrige as means of transportation to the dinner. These people are amazing. And last but certainly not least is Esterlin Martinez Sambo who was the wedding coordinator who arranged the entire wedding. The entire wedding was planned via email by my son and daughter in law through Esterlin. I have to say it was completely amazing to think that this wedding was planned via email and came off without a hitch. We arrived and were greated with a marquee with my son and daugher in laws name on it and then by tropical drinks as we waited to be express checked in. Our rooms welcomed us with a fresh fruit platter from the bride and groom. The rehersal dinner was excellent and the service 1st class. The wedding was perfect and the reception flawless. Esterlin coordinated the entire event and did not miss abeat! She is EXCELLENT at what she does and any bride and groom are in good hands with her and the entire staff at Melia. This was a memorable trip for all 51 of our family. We are blessed to have had this week together and to have had such a wonderful experience at Melia Caribe Tropical and to have meet the wonderful employees who make the Melia one of the best places I have EVER been!
