“Good hotel for the value and class.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2013

After being stuck in a hotel room infested with black mold, bed bugs and inedible food, we trnsfered to this resot and it was luxurious by comparison. But let me try to give you an unbiased review:

Rooms: Great! Good size, relatively modern, clean- no bugs or pubes in the tub or sheets :) Key card entry and relatively sound proof between you and your neighbors. The bungalows are all 8-plexes - two floors- get a 2nd floor or else you'll be hearing chairs and thumping over your head at all hours.

Beach: Beautiful- a little seaweed washed up on shore each night because there was a big storm earlier in the week, but nothing to complain about. Grounds keepers keep it clean . White sands and good waves- no jelly fish!

Complaint: Despite its beauty, the beach is not for quiet reflection or anyone looking to relax. They have a beach party DJ or Disco all day with screaming DJ and blasting techno music, can't hear yourself think- This goes on from 10AM to midnight. Also, if your room is unfortunate enough to be near the pool or beach, the noise will drive you nuts. Bring earplugs.

Complaint: Maids hollaring at each other from acrosss corridors or streets while cleaning. Echos really loudly, can't sleep past 8AM so don't get too drunk the night before and expect to sleep in!

Staff: Concierge was wonderful, sympthetic to complaints , attentive to requests and really seemed to care about your experience. They work on tips so bring lots of dollar bills with you if you want to be 'taken care of'.

Cleaning and repair crew: Do not let them in your room unattended. Maids unlock windows purposely ( they're not airing out the room), two break in's while we were here. Once tried to get into the safe and once took valuables from the livingroom table. Concierge replaced alacarte tickets and had to reset the safe. No indication that action would be taken regarding the theft.

Food: They try, and I supposed by local standards, the food is fit for a king. But by north american standards or people with taste buds, you should know that most of the foods are constructed from powdered, water packed, dehydrated foods. Fresh Foods are prepared hours in advance to prepare for the breakfast, lunch and dinner rush, so most hot items are either cold or luke warm and harder or drier than supposed to be. Stick with fresh grilled items, just add salt and ketchup - you won't starve but this is not for cullinary experts or foodies. Fresh fruits and vegetables have no flavor at all and watch out for fruit fies and birds on the open buffet trays.

Drinks: It's all inclusive.. what do you expect. All drinks are watered down, sugar water. Pinacolada slushi was always broken so never get the slushie just pina juice on the rocks. Bartender said its because this drink is ordered so often, the juice has no time to freeze in the slushi machine.. Order beer and wine only to get your moneys worth if you're not an 'all day' kind of drinker. They expect people to behave like lushes so surely they'd go broke if they gave out full premiums all day.

MAMAWANNA is great! Everywhere you go, in Dominican, they serve a local drink called Mammawa- its like a spicy rum- and because it's made locally, it tastes different every where you have it. Still good, no matter where you have it or what flavor it is. I had strep throat and I swear this fire water cured it. I was able to actually enjoy my days here because of it.

All common areas are 'open concept' and the ceiling fans are rarely running, so it is absolutely stiffling! The heat and humidy are unbareable. So if you're delicate, this is not for you. You won't be able to enjoy the all inclusive bar, the shows, or just lazing around under the thatch canopy.

I would not ,come back here- not because it's bad but because I realize that I am a spoiled gringo traveller with expectatations that are way too high for this geography. If you're like me, stay at a RIU Sensimar or HardRock which are on Macau Beach and it's the most famous beach in Dominican. It's the beach you see in all the traveller brochures.

Room Tip: The room safe is never really 'safe'. Always take your valuables with you. Split them up bet...

Very modern and clean rooms offered to platinum guest
Very nice beach, a bit dirty but acceptable. Seen much worse in punta Cana.
A bit noisy beach from next door resort - daily beach parties
Food just as bad as other resort. Go for grilled fish. Fries and olives will do. Everything else tastes like tofu
Very nice staff, specially at the reception.

It far exceeded my expectations. We had a beautiful villa very close to the beach with an ocean view. It was spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana. The room had been renovated so it was all marble with a King bed and jacuzzi. It had a beautiful terrace which had a great view of the ocean. The room was kept very clean. Everything was done with excellence. There were 5 a la carte restaurants running at the time and they were all very good, especially the Steak House, El Goucho. The serice was very good at all the restaurants and the Dining Room buffet. The beach was perfect and so was the weather. We only had one day of rain in 2 weeks. I would recommend this place to anyone.

The only negative thing I would have to say is that the hotel has a branch called Royal Holiday where they try to sell you a condo there. I was not impressed how we were Coerced into going to a meeting - but in the end we did not attend.

I dont know where to start, but this resort is truly a 5 star. Everything is perfect. It was a family trip, my mom, my aunt and my cousin from June 21-28. 7 days definitely not enough. Let me do a quick review about our stay in Punta Cana. We had the all-inclusive package with sunwing upgraded to suite for $995 per person. PLEASE DO READ THIS REVIEW. IT WAS OUR FIRST TIME IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC AND JUST LIKE EVERYONE ELSE, WE NEEDED A REVIEW.

*FLIGHT
- The flight from toronto to punta cana is 4 hours with Sunwing airlines. Its been good. Seeing sights from above is wonderful. The crew are nice. And when we arrived at punta cana airport, we noticed it is different from what we see in a modern city like toronto but it feels so unique. We liked it. Its refreshing. On the other hand, its good to have a tranfer bus from the airport to the resort and its included in our package. However, when we were gping back to toronto, we were situated atthe very back of the plane which our seats are next to the washroom which is gross. Please if you a chance choosing your own seats away from the washroom, please do so.

*LOBBY
- its huge and loud. Its great to have music playing when you get there, but it is hard to check in with a very loud music in the lobby,we couldnt understand each other while checking in. But, it is still nice. Its quick. Ala is the one who helped us in checking in, shes so nice and even gave us some cocktails drinks and the best one is the MAMA JUANA. When we finished for the check in, we went to the front and the bell boys were waiting for us. We've ridden a 'train', as they call it, going to our rooms. No hassle.

*ROOM. SUITE
We had two separate rooms 422 and 428. We requested these rooms to be close to the restaurants, beach, and main pool. Which is great. Our Suites are fantastic. We have jacuzzi, a beautiful bathroom and of course our beds. It is enough for us. W actually didnt expect this. We expected to be in a hotel building but this ones are like VILLAS, which is awesome.

*RESTAURANTS
Hispaniola restaurant- where we had breakfast, since it is the only restaurant open for breakfast, maybe because it was low season. It is also open for lunch and dinner. We actually dont like the food from this buffet, but the italian station is awesome. From the day two to day 7 we come here for some great OMELET only. Despite of not having great foods, we still kept coming back here because of the AWESOMEEEE WORKERS RIGHT HERE IN THIS RESTAURANT. this restaurant has each station, we sat at the very back, not along the american station, because it was the only station that has so many nice people like CARLOS AND THERE ARE MORE. we also go here every after our a la carte dinner, since at the a la carte they ony give small portions of food.

EL GAUNCHO- IS THE TOP RESTAURANT FOR US DURING OUR STAY. It is open for lunch and for a a la carte dinner. We actually went here two times since we have two rooms, so we're allowed to go again for a la carte dinner. Great for lunch because it is in the beach. After swimming in pool or in the beach, we just directly go at this restaurant. They served REALLY GREAT FOODS NO LIES. I recommend this restaurant!!!!

EL PESCADOR - THIS IS THE SECOND A LA CARTE RESTAURANT THAT WE LIKE. I got the lobster but it is not included with the package so i had to pay 25 for it, but hey its very delicious and worth it, and its a big serving.

TANUKI- A japanese restaurant, this was our first a la carte dinner during our stay. Its great! It feels like a cooking show in front of us. 10 persons per table, we had to complete that 10 people first before we get inside, but while waiting they served some great sushi and beverages. When we get to the table, the show starts. The chef is very hyper. Smiling until he finished. They do some tricks while cooking in front of us. Its great, because we even asked to join him. It is so much fun.

BELLA PASTA. This is also a a la carte restaurant. It was okay. Good to try. Nothing else to say.

SAKURA- THE LEAST RESTAURANT FOR US. From my opinion, this restaurant needs to fix and change their menu. It just tasted gross. We didnt enjoy it. Please stay away from this restaurant.

CHOPPIN RESTAURANT- This was the first restaurant we went to after arriving at the resort since it was the only restaurant was open when we got there. We arrived at the resort maybe by 11pm but we still had to do check in, went to our rooms and fix our things, and the receptionist, Ala told us it would be open after 12am, so we went there by 12:30am. It is a buffet but not the big since it is only after 12am , it served as a snack bar. It only had fried chicken, french fries, burger patty, hotdogs, chips and drinks. But it is enough for going after the disco or something else. But it is listed be a ala carte dinner, but during our stay it never got opened til we left friday. Again, maybe because it is low season.

PLEASE GIVE TIPS AT LEAST A DOLLAR US. THEY WILL APPRECIATE IT SO MUCH.

BEACH- ah beach beach. IM MISSING IT SO MUCH. crystal clear water and white sand beach. However, few seaweeds were at the shore, the resort needs to clean this. But everything else is perfect. Very RELAXING. there are some waiters going around the beach to give drinks any kind of drink. There are two snack bars at the beach one for for the food, and the other one is for drinks. AS GENERAL ADVISE, PUT A LOT OF SUNSCREEN.

POOL- there two pools at this resort, the first one is beside the lobby and the other one which is the main pool is close to the beach. The main pool has a swim up bar which is great. Its huge. Great for variety of water sports like volleyball, basketball and many more. It has a dj sitting next to it. Also, the water is very warm.

ACTIVITIES OFFER BY THE SUNWING.
NEXT DAY AFTER ARRIVING AT THE RESORT, THEY TOLD US TO ATTEND THE PROGRAM IN THE MORNING. They TALKED ABOUT THE VARIETY OF ACTIVITIES THEY OFFER, AND ALSO, MOST IMPORTANTLY, THEY WILL TALK ABOUT THE DEPARTURE IF THERE IS ANY CHANGES OR NOT. IT IS ONLY 15 mns long so why not.

FIRST ACTIVITY- BANANA BOAT
It was only $12 per person. This is so much fun. We always wanted to ride this banana boat and it was great.

SECOND ACTIVITY- ATV
AH AS A GUY I ENJOYED THIS ACTIVITY. THIS IS THE BEST. IT WAS ONLY $300 US for 4 of us . WE SPENT HALF OF OUR DAY WITH THIS, ITS GREAT. PLEASE DO THIS. WE ALSO WENT TO THE MACAO BEACH, IM TELLING YOU THIS BEACH IS DAMN NICEEEEEEE. THE WAVES AND EVERYTHING, WE STAYED THERE FOR 15mns it was the first stop. Second stop is where a shop of coffee and cigars its great to see how people live in this country. And the money they get from selling these stuff were to help and build schools for young children o please do buy at least one or two. And the last stop is at where we visited a cave. THE WATER at this cave is cold but sooooo refreshing and its deep like 30 feet deep. It was a long day to srive a long at this area. Definitely a great experience. I even wanted to do it again but hey money =_=.

THIRD ACTIVITY -SAONA ISLAND TOUR.
THIS COST US $84 per person. It is worth it, I would say THIS IS THE PERFECT EXPERIENCE FOR ALL OF US. We travelled 6 or 7hours back and forth by bus and when get to the fish port we've ridden a Catamaran boat, which is so relaxing. It brought us along the Caribbean sea. Its like a yacht. We got to the saona island and there was a buffet lunch waiting for us. I love the foods maybe because i was so hungry since we left the resort by 7:20am without eating breakfast, and we got to saona maybe around 11. AND THE BEACH IS NICE. CRYSTAL CLEAR WATER but there some area of the beach that has lots of rocks. We left the saona island after couple of hours and we've ridden a speed boat and we stopped in what they call it as natural swimming pool. It is shallow and we were able to take pictures and swim with the sea stars(star fish) for half an hour. It was. A GREAT ISLAND TOUR.

OVERALL, WE DEFINITELY ENJOYED OUR STAY IN BAVARO PRINCESS. IT WAS AN AWESOME TRIP. TO BE HONEST, WHEN WE GOT BACK HERE IN TORONTO, WE FELT SO SAD. FOR THE WHOLE DAY STAYING AT HOME WE MISSED OUR LIFE IN PUNTA CANA. UNTIL NOW, I COULDNT MOVE ON. I WISH I COULD GO BACK INSTANTLY. IM MISSING MY LIFEEEEEE IN PUNTA CANA. IF ANYONE WOULD LIKETOSEE OUR PICTURES JUST EMAIL ME AT AXEL.POSTIO@live.com THANK YOU

It was 27 of us from New York and North Carolina at the Bavaro Princess in Punta Cana during the month of October,2012. We had a Blast! - the resort is beautiful, the beach is clean and the restaurants are excellent. Each day and night there was something entertaining to do and enjoy. Carlos was AWESOME! he was there to assist from the beginning to the end of our trip; he should be commended for his services. All of our staff members made our trip enjoyable, especially the beach/pool/and entertainer. We have recommended your resort to all of our friends and we look forward to our next trip to the Bavaro Princess.

This is the fourth time me and my friend have returned to the hotel and it was just as good as always. We asked for a room near the lobby on check-in so it was easier for us to come back at night and we ended up getting a free upgrade to a jacuzzi in our room! We never used this but we are sure the shower was of better quality. All the animation team: Juan Carlos, Yan Carlos aka Pink Panther, Melvin, Jordan, Karina, Johander and Alejandra were all fantastic and one of the best sets of animation teams we have had, especially the girls. There had been some changes to the hotel, the buffet on the beach where you eat at lunch now makes you cover up, which is really good and this has also been done up since we have last been. As well as a new cafe on the beach which offers free wifi. The one change we didn't like was after the entertainment finishes at midnight you used to be able to get food at the lobby buffet but now you have to walk through the resort to get the the chopin restaurant which got really annoying because then we had to walk back to go out again.

We are already planning our 5th trip back! It was a fantastic experience again and all the employees were as helpful and kind as ever. We especially liked the welcome back of the beach parties as these are very fun. See you all soon !!

Room Tip: Go for one in the middle of the resort then this means you don't have to wait for the shuttle bu...

I took my first vacation in 20 years with my husband to the Dominican on June 14th.We arrived at the check in around 2am, and because my husband speaks Spanish { I assume}, we were surprised and delighted with an immediate upgrade to a "Honeymoon Suite"! (No pressure there...}..Well, nice enough room, Jacuzzi tub, no privacy door to shower...honeymoon or not..i want a door! Buffets were out of this world for Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and the choices were never ending! We learned quickly that the toilets WILL NOT take more than 2 squares of paper, so flush carefully! The power went off a couple of times in our room, but it happened during the night so we weren't too concerned. The maid seemed to take forever to clean the room even though we are clean, and each time we arrived back, she was still there! We felt obligated to tip her since we sat outside while she finished up. Grounds are breathtaking, staff are friendly and amazingly helpful. One day my towel was taken from my beach chair, and when we reported it to front desk, the girl said i had to pay 20$. After alot of Spanish on hubbys part, she gave me a new towel card and that was taken care of! Watch your towels!! Bring lots of $1 bills American with you for tipping. They work very hard, and appreciate these tips. Also, bring all basic items with you to avoid having to buy in the resort mini mart! Aspirins, band aids, lighters, etc: Ridiculous prices! We took a half day trip on the "Country Express". If you are over 5ft tall, you will bruise your knees in these seats! Horrible seating, open air drive with strong wind in your face, and to be honest, a boring adventure. $60 each, and not much to remember about it. Next time, i would maybe do the boat trip. Swim up bar was cool, if the lushes would ever get off the stools! Beach speaks for itself....beautiful....Request "Rum" or whatever booze you want in your drinks or we had just juice or mix! All in all, a wonderful time, nice room, great staff, and i would definitely return. Oh! Watch out for these time share guys! We thought they worked for the hotel, but they are hanging around main lobby all the time! Pesty, but a firm no thank you worked as well as bug spray! lol.....SALUD!!!

Room Tip: 300 numbers take you close to swim up bar or beach. We were in 600's, which is close to main lob...
