“Amazing Holiday”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 20, 2012

Fantastic holiday for our first trip south, coming back again in April haha. Service was fantastic, the entertainers (especially Alex, Michael & Happy Face) are hilarious, as were the rest of the animation team. The bartenders at the main pool (Yary, Claudio, Johnathan and Melvin) are sure to take care of you. Carlos at the Platinum Beach Bar is a hoot, too. The food everywhere is great, no complaints. The beach is beautiful, the rooms are spotless.
When you wake up, go to the breakfast buffet. If you go there for dinner, get a crepe with banana and chocolate. Then go to the beach, and don't forget to leave a tip for the maid and Roberto (he refills your fridge). If you upgraded to Platinum (suggested) go see Carlos at the beach bar, tell him Robert Deniro sent you. TIP WELL. When you've had enough sun go over to the main pool bar for entertainment at 3, get Michael to do the Thriller dance.

Amazing. Highly recommended. And if there's one thing you do, tip well.

Room Tip: Platinum rooms are the closest to the beach. 738 has a perfect fridge and flat screen

Overall the resort was very clean. Staff was friendly. The grounds staff would cut open coconuts for me every morning so I could drink fresh coconut water. The beach was nice but the water was kinda rough when we were there.
The downside to the resort was the food. There wasn't much variety on the Buffet. Some of the other restaurants were good, such as the fondue restaurant at the neighboring princess resort. They have a special coffee drink that is amazing, and I don't even like coffee

We recently returned from our 6th visit to the Bavaro Princess Resort and as usual it was a wonderful vacation. The people there are excellent and very friendly. Special thank you to Juana who is a waitress in the main buffet. An extra special thankyou to Mr. Gomez the hotel manager. From check in to check out everything was perfect. Our rooms were clean and well maintained by the staff. Food in the buffet sometimes gets a little repetitive but there is always something wonderful to eat and you can't go hungry. We love this resort because it's so casual. You can dress up if you want, but you don't have to. It's also a family friendly resort and they go out of there way to accommodate the kids.
going back in March, taking the family including grandchildren. I know they will love it as much as we do.

Room Tip: Please, Please, Please, Take extra money in $1.00 bills to tip the staff. These people work long h...

I stayed there Feb of 2012. It was a great trip, The room was beautiful. Very clean. Bathroom was nice. But the pull out couch that was one of our "beds" for the double room wasn't very comfortable at all. But truthfully I didn't spend much time sleeping. I loved having out own little patio and we spent a lot of time out there. The staff were pleasant and polite but weren't overly friendly. The bar at the pool was great. Loved the swim up bar. I was overly thrilled with the buffets but they wer certainly good enough. The steakhouse was my favorite. Worth the wait. I also really enjoyed the burger shack. That was great for a hangover! We spent a lot of time outside the resort. The hotel was perfectly located. Right across the street frm fun bars. We spent a lot of time at Alibabar. The people there were awesome and really, realy friendly and fun. We were pretty much out till 5 am everynight. Went to Mangu one night as well... wished we went to Imagine but we never made it there. All in all a good trip!

I feel that many hotel reviews are very vague, so I will try to make this as specific as possible in order to help you all understand how we formed our opinion of this hotel and to better inform you of the amenities here. Please feel free to email me if you want to know anything else about this hotel if I didn’t cover it:

Firstly, a bit of background about my family and what we look for in a hotel:
- My family and I stayed at Bavaro Princess during the first week of December 2012.
- We have been to Punta Cana over 25 times within the past 10 years or so, so I’d like to think that we have enough experience to accurately compare hotels.
- I am 21 years old, stayed with my parents and aunt and speak Spanish (although we are from Canada).
- The most important aspects for a hotel for us are a lot of dancing (merengue, bachata, salsa), fun and loud activities around the pool/beach area, friendly staff that engage you in activities, and aesthetic pool/beach area.

In this hotel we got EVERYTHING we wanted. I’ll break down the categories to be more specific:

Hotel:
-The hotel is HUGE. We love to walk a lot, so this was a plus for us. However, there is a trolley that can take you from the lobby --> pool.
-There is a septic plant in the hotel which does emanate odour. Its nothing horrid, but you do smell it while walking through a small section of the hotel between the pool and lobby. Its nothing significant though so I wouldn’t consider this a huge negative factor.
-There is an ecological path which is beautiful. There are many animals there and its a nice path to take if you’re walking around the resort and a great place to take pictures in. (Also if you want to feed the peacocks, they like popcorn).

Beach:
- The section of the beach that is in front of Bavaro Princess is without question THE NICEST SECTION out of all of Bavaro beach. If you walk a lot on the beach and are familiar with the hotel layout, you can walk to Ocean Blue (like 4 hotels to the left) and then make it all the way to Barcelo Palace (on the right, at the complete end of Bavaro beach). So you can walk as much as you want. The water is slowly eroding away the beach so when the tide is high, there are spots that you need to work your way around. The cleanest (seaweed free) and deepest part of the beach is directly in front of this hotel though.

Entertainment Team:
- This is always THE MOST IMPORTANT element of the resort for my family and I.
- The entertainment staff here are BEYOND FANTASTIC. They are always smiling, working hard, asking you to dance and join in the Juego Loco (crazy game). They are the best entertainment team I have encountered in ANY RESORT in Punta Cana (and we have been to almost all of the hotels here).
Although everyone was amazing, Jourdain (monkey), Juan Carlos, and Happy Face were always around and deserve extra mentions. Jourdain is the happiest, funniest person and Juan Carlos is hilarious and always asking to dance when they play Dominican music. Robert, Melvin, Alex and the girl who works with the kids club also worked hard to make sure everyone was happy during their stays. If you’re like us and think that the entertainment staff make your stay, this is where you should go!!

Dancers:
- Not many people mention how AMAZING the dancers at this resort are. Because we always went to the shows, we got to know them very well and they are just as amazing as the entertainment staff! The shows here are different from the standard nightly shows in Punta Cana and are exclusive to Bavaro Princess. They were a joy to watch. However, if you’re expecting Vegas standard shows, then you should know there really aren’t any in Punta Cana. They have a Mi Tierra (meaning Dominican themed) show, an 80’s show, a beach party night, a musical themed show, and others.

Other Staff:
For the most part, the staff all over the hotel are kind and willing to help. The cooks and waitresses/waiters are friendly and smiling wherever you go.
The barmen almost always are efficient. and Arleny was a super waitress who is friendly. (She remembered my familys orders which was a really nice personal touch.)

Food:
I am okay with monotonous food while on vacation. As long as there are fresh fruits, omelet's, and yogurt, I have no problem. I think that unless you’re a foodie or want fillet mignon with caviar, you’ll be just fine here.)
If this is important for you though, I feel that the food isn’t bad:
Every dinner has a different theme, while we were there, we noticed an Italian, Oriental, and Russian themed night.
The pizza is delicious and freshly baked every dinner, you can mix your own pastas at a station, they grill fish and meat right in front of you, and burgers/fries/poutine/wings are always available.
People may say that the food isn’t hot enough. Again, this didn’t matter to us.
For breakfast you can have a freshly mixed fruit smoothie, cereal, omelet, or make a sandwich with fresh bread.
The soups were delicious although there was not too much variation from day to day.
If you are hungry at night, the restaurant makes some food available in a “snack bar” type of spread.
The desserts were interesting and varied, there was ice cream, and sugar-free cupcakes every night.
They have a “McPrincess” snack bar on the beach, so you can have your fries and burgers whenever.

Activities:
The morning activities are on the beach. these include dance classes, volleyball, beach aerobics, crazy game, and soccer.
The afternoon is near the pool by the bar and starts at 3:30. They do similar activities, along with water polo, painting, cigar rolling, a different crazy game etc.

Nightly Entertainment:
Dinner starts at 6:30 and goes until 10:00
There is a mini disco at 8:30.
The nightly show is from 9:30 until 10:15.
Then there is either live music or a DJ from 10:30 until midnight.
Many people dance to the Latin music, and join in to dance the club dance and other songs with well known steps (so like the cha cha slide, danza kuduro, cupid shuffle etc)
You can take a trolley to the main disco which opens at midnight. (There are 4 Princess hotels and this one is located within the Caribe Princess one. There is a shuttle every 15 min between here and Bavaro Princess though, so don’t worry about distance.)

Negatives:
The rooms are BEAUTIFUL. However, the first night we called to tell reception that our hairdryer was not working, our fridge was warmer than expected, and our television would not work. For us, this wasn’t anything too important however we had to call over 5 times for someone to come and fix/replace these things. I believe that the reception is the worst part of this hotel for this reason.
Also when we checked in, we were told that we had a room in the main building (behind the lobby). The man at the desk gave us our packages (so our bracelets, safe key, towel cards AND room keys in an envelope). We said that we were expecting a Bungalow Suite and the man who was checking us in said he’d double check. He came back within a minute and said “the manager had agreed to a free upgrade.” However he never reprogrammed the keys, meaning he had already set them to the bungalow suite rooms. We do not know why he did this, but found it strange. So if you do decide to come here, be aware of them doing the same to you.

Other:
For those who say that the staff do not speak English: Yes they do. Its just not as fluent as yours. I speak Spanish so this is never a problem for me, but you need to understand that this is a SPANISH SPEAKING country. Speak slowly and patiently, and you’ll be understood just fine.
PREMIUM UPGRADE: We didn’t upgrade and still managed. The benefit of upgrading basically includes, 3 cigars per room per week, your own “lounge” and section of the beach, a beach tote, and the option of going into ANY of the 4 Princess hotels. However, this hotel is so big and activity filled that you won’t get bored. To us, it wasn’t worth the money.
There is no free wifi but you can either buy time and use their computers, or use your own.
THE GYM: it was fairly empty whenever we went, you have two treadmills, an eliptical, free weights, steps, mats, spin bikes, and standard weight machines. Its well air-conditioned and we enjoyed it. THE SPA looks beautiful, but we never went.
If people say the drinks are watered down, its because they sometimes are. You need to understand that this is because some people just sit at the bar and drink all day and the barmen don’t want to have to cut them off. If you want a proper, non-diluted drink, you can pay for more expensive booze. They are not diluted to a very noticeable degree and we had no issue with this.

Again, if I’ve left anything out, or you would like a more specific comparison to another hotel in Punta Cana, feel free to email, I hope I’ve settled any concerns about this hotel above!

Room Tip: This is a big resort, if you want to be closer to the lobby or pool or beach, check an online map an...
