“wonderful vacation!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We had the best time at this amazing resort!! The grounds are lush and green, the water is a turquoise blue and the sand is powder white!! The staff is wonderful, friendly and helpful. When thanked, the answer was always "it's a pleasure!! Some key staff members I would like to recognize are Juan Medrano,, Edwin Santana and Hector on the beach!! They were always there with a smile and a drink!! A huge thanks to Glennis at the Reserve for making our vacation a dream!! We were a party of 20 with small children and it would have been impossible with out Glennis.. Everything we asked, she could accommodate us!! She was the most helpful and pleasant person I've ever met.. I highly recommend staying at the Reserve at Paradisus Punta Cana

We have returned to this resort for the last 7 years. We love the tropical garden setting, the people who work hard to keep the resort so beautiful and their guests happy, the motto on the resort beautiful beach towels "The Pure Freedom to Just Be", the food choices, the amazing Bavaro beach, the elegance of the facilities.

The resort beach is very large, with many choices of lounge chairs/beds. You never feel that you are crowded in, as there is a lot of space.

The resort provides a calendar of daily activities on the beach and at the pool. However, if one chooses to just read, the tranquility of the areas away form the Beach Club and the pool, will give all the peace required. Remember the motto of the resort.

Of course, not everything would be to the liking of everyone. The ocean waves are generally quite strong, so if one expects calm waters, the pool is where the water is calm. On the other hand, the waves are a lot of fun.

The resort is very large and requires lots of walking or the use the shuttle. We love to walk through the beautiful grounds, so for us is never a problem. At times, it might rain heavily. The resort provides large umbrellas that you can find in the room or at reception.

The restaurant choices are broad and the food quality very good at the buffet and a la carte. The house wines are usually from Chile or Argentina (bottled) and good quality. For the more refined tastes, one can purchase from a wine list.

If I could give a 10 for service I would. The people here take pride in the quality of service they provide. Overall this may be our best Dominican vacation to date. One word of caution (maybe 2). You will be targeted or not for the time share sales pitch as soon as you walk in the door. If you fit their model you get whisked into a special reception area. You get nothing for sitting thru it and it is of course high pressure sales! Also check out the hotels water sports and activities before signing up for expensive excursions. Btw the food is great!

I booked this hotel as a surprise getaway for my boyfriend while we traveled to punta cana this past week.. The hotel is amazing and the Royal Service is the way to go!!! totally worth it. From the moment you arrive you are taken care of: transported to you private check in area, taken around the grounds for a private tour,... We were on room 1013, ground level by the beach and it was perfect. RS rooms are located in a quiet area and everything is within a few frets away from your doorstep... Great vacation! Thanks to Emmanuel, our butler, the staff at the Palapa and Jeremiah!!!1 We are definitely coming back for a longer stay!

Room Tip: Royal service rooms are nice and close to everything: Private beach, private pool, private restauran...

this was our 2nd visit this year. Our expectations were high as we were so impressed on our first visit. They did not let us down. We were close to the beach again as requested. The a la cartes were very good. The theme buffet was also nice as you could pick what nights you wanted to visit. The Asian was my favourite theme on both my trips. Dominican night was very good as well. We did notice there was a lot more children here than when we visited in march.
That did make a difference to us at meal times as some parents just let their children run around in the dining room . Also, the sneeze guards at the buffet are not child height.
Guest services were very helpful to us over the 10 days as I had a few requests they dealt with promptly. We had a few fun nights at the lobby bar . Also, we had a couple nights we spent in the casino which was different for us. The shows were ok but not the best we've seen .
The grounds and rooms at this resort are above average and quite beautiful..
. We will return again (maybe next year).

Room Tip: ask for a room close to the beach if you dont want to walk too far. If you are pool people request c...

We were there from 12/16 to 12/21. Weather was perfect, resort is beautiful!
Water: Main pool is huge, the water is a bit cold when first get in. Beautiful beach with lots of beds. Big waves with lots of seaweed.
Food: Vento is the best. Have to try Sea bass. Breakfast and lunch buffet were not very impressive. Wednesday night Dominican theme at Naos had lobster. Same night, outside of Naos, it had sugar can juice stand. Awesome!!! Be aware when you make reservation at Bana. It actually has two restaurants. One is cooking on the table, and one is regular setting.
Room: We had junior suite with Jacuzzi. Beautiful room, clean and the bed is comfortable. Room was cleaned daily.
Shopping: The hotel shop has cheaper price than airport duty free. Coffee cost $11at the hotel, but $12 at the airport. But the airport has much more varieties.
Cons: Sales pitch. Upon arrival,we were greeted by a concierge. He was clearly very unhappy when we nicely, but firmly declined his invitation to the presentation. He never showed any smile every time we crossed path during our stay. We felt like we were unwelcome. In addition, we were asked about their presentation daily. A bit annoying...
Telephone in the room had issues. Keypad did not work most of time. It made difficult for us since all reservations are made through phone. We had to make phone calls using the phone at the lobby.

Overall, despite the glitches, we still had a great time.

This was our 3rd year in Punta Cana for a holiday vacation and having really enjoyed our stay at Paradisus Palma Real last year, we decided to give this resort a try (Palma Real didn't have availability). Overall, our stay was really good.

Highlights included beach beds, beach cabanas, pool beds, relatively new and updated rooms, amenities and facilities, Claudia at the concierge desk and dinners at most of their a la carte restaurants. As a family with kids, we also absolutely loved the fact that their main pool had shallow areas, kids-only section (this was missing at Paradisus Palma Real and the only negative we had to say about that resort although last year, Palma Real also didn't have beach beds or pool beds and I am assuming that has changed since. Palma Real sets the standard for service btw, through and through). So, net-net if you are all adults in your party, go for Palma Real (do check on beach/pool beds) and if you are traveling with kids, read on. Btw, majestic Colonial was the the other resort we have been to in Punta Cana (2 years back) and that doesn't hold a candle to either Paradisus Palma Real or Paradisus Punta Cana.

The negative for Paradisus included lack luster service especially at the pool and beach, wait times for shuttles to take you from one place to another (the resort is huge but great to walk during the day or use the bikes they have at different bike stations but at night you do need shuttles to go catch a show or to the Reserve or to lobby restaurants, bars, casino, et al) and average meals at breakfast and lunch buffets (although fresh ceviches were really good). Btw, if you are staying at The Reserve, you are really out of luck since Gabi Club has worse lunch buffets and for The Reserve to have a kids club and no kid-friendly food/meal was absolutely baffling (no pasta, pizza, et al the one day that we were there and the meats were chewy as rubber).

If you have a few nights, do try Vento, Fuego, Mole (exceeded our expectations, their steak was really good as was the service & drinks), Bana (their hibachi food was delicious though entertainment wise a bit weak. also note that Bana also has a chinese restaurant side which, I hear, isn't that great), The Grill, Aqua. Naos, one of the 2 buffet places requires no reservations and did have a decent fare. Breakfast options are also better at Naos than Gabi Restaurant (not to be confused with Gabi Club at The Reserve) with fresh & custom smoothies bar and a bit more selection. French fries and hot dogs from the Grab n Go bar by the pool were a big hit with our kids.

And don't miss taking a fresh coconut from one the gardeners in green uniforms walking around in the morning with a machete in hand as they go from tree to tree taking down coconuts and cleaning and cutting them for you. Just be sure to have a straw handy.

Entertainment shows wise, we loved the beach party, The Lion King show and Bounce. The Michael Jackson show was the weakest of the 4 Michael Jackson shows we have been catching at different resorts through these years. But if you have no better plans, well why miss those, right?

One of the main reasons we loved Paradisus Palma Real was because of the kids club they had at their Reserve that we could use. Paradisus also had a similar set up with a kids club at their Reserve with a kids pool and a whole host of scheduled activities for the kids. Have to say the kids club at Palma real was a bit better than the one at Paradisus. Palma Real had a bigger kids club with games and activities for kids of all age ranges including a video games room that was a hit with older kids. The pool also had a couple more playarea set ups. And completely in keeping with the level of services, we found Palma Real kids club staff slightly more professional. but the biggest plus was inclusion of lunch and snacks so you didn't need to take kids out to feed them. At Paradisus they serve mini snacks (mini macarons and such) but no lunch which meant taking kids out, taking them back to Paradisus and then bringing them back in. The kids weren't too happy about that and on certain days, neither were we :) But our kids were happy hanging out there and going to Adventure Park with Trampoline Bungy and Rock Climbing. The resort also has tennis courts.

All in all a great vacation that might be worth repeating with beautiful beaches, balmy water and well kept grounds and property. Worth noting that check in and check out were quick and painless. Although the concierge didn't do anything for us and we ended up making our own reservations and familiarizing ourselves with the resort grounds and facilities. Oh, and they have free wi-fiin common areas but not in rooms.

Room Tip: . if not in Royal Service, select building # 10 or 11 as they are closest to the beach, pools and ne...
