I am Travel Agent located in Alberta, Canada.
Last year, I booked my daughter and her boyfriend on a vacation to the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort in the Dominican Republic.
They absolutely fell in love with the resort, and each other, and came back home engaged! They had such a wonderful time they decided then and there that they wanted to hold a destination wedding and bring all of their family and friends to the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort to help them celebrate the happy occasion!
When they arrived back home and told me their plans to have a destination wedding in the Dominican Republic, I was of course very happy, but also a little nervous. As a Travel Agent it is always a little scary to help plan a wedding so far from home, and especially so when your client is also your daughter!
But, after hearing how happy they were with the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort and all of the staff there, I took a deep breath and started planning the wedding for February 2014.
Our first contact with the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort was through their Romance Department in Miami. I was referred to Bianca Cincu, one of the Romance Coordinators for the Paradisus Resorts. At first I thought it was a little concerning that I would be dealing with someone who was not actually onsite at the resort. She quickly assured me, however, that she would do all of the initial pre-planning with me and then hand us over to the onsite Romance Team to fulfill all of our wishes.
I have to say that Bianca was amazing to work with! Her experience certainly speaks for itself! As a Travel Agent, I tend to be a little detail oriented and Bianca was so patient with me and always responded to my emails in a very timely manner. She was at all times very professional and friendly and had lots of excellent advice and ideas. When she did ultimately turn me over to the onsite department, I felt confident that the plans were all in place and just needed to be carried through with the resort staff.
We had our first meeting at the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort with Jennifer Alvarez and Miguelina Martinez who are Romance Coordinators onsite at the resort. Both of these ladies were so warm and friendly and really touched my heart. We reviewed the initial plans and they took charge immediately, giving me a chance to just relax and enjoy time with our 35 guests. Jennifer and Miguelina were such a pleasure to work with and truly made my daughter’s wedding day a day she will remember forever!
As part of our wedding package (Tailor Made Package), we held a private welcome beach barbeque for our guests a couple of nights before the wedding. We had so much fun! The staff went out of their way to ensure our guests all had a great time! The setting was amazing, right on the beach with the sun setting. The food was great and we had brought our own playlist of music and we danced our hearts out! It was a great way for all of the guests to mingle and get to know each other before the big day. I would certainly recommend it!
As a special treat for our Bridesmaids, we arranged a Bridesmaid’s Mimosa Brunch on the YHI Spa terrace the morning of the wedding, followed by massages and complete hair and make-up in the Bridal Suite. What a great day it was! All of the spa staff assisting us were so warm and friendly and they really set the tone for the entire day.
The YHI Spa Coordinator, Gelen Beltre, was also a pleasure to work with. I arranged everything through her via email and she did a remarkable job! We had 8 ladies for brunch, massages, hair and make-up and she managed to organize everything without a glitch. She was on hand to oversee everything and keep things on track to be done in time for the ceremony. The ladies who assisted with our hair and make-up all did a fabulous job. Kudos to Jilenny, Marisol and Juana for working so hard all day to make our bride, bridesmaids and flower girls look so amazing! We were all extremely happy with the end results! We were so happy to share our day with such nice ladies!
The wedding was beautiful! We held the ceremony on the beach as planned but had to move the reception indoors as there were some possible rain showers forecast. Even with this last minute change of plans, the Romance Coordinators managed to organize everything, causing me no worries at all. We were very happy with the Romance Foyer for the reception and it was a great call by them, as had we stuck with our original plans for the reception poolside, we would have been worried all evening about possible rain showers.
All of the wedding décor for the ceremony and reception venues was provided by Caribbean Celebrations, through the Paradisus Resort. They also provided all of the floral arrangements for the bridal party and venues and they were exactly what we had requested. My contact there was Lara Estaras and she was also a dream to work with. It is sometimes hard to communicate exactly what you have in mind, but I have to say that Lara hit it spot on. The end result was spectacular and our guests were very impressed! Kudos to Caribbean Celebrations!
All of our photography was done through Tropic One Studio and our photographer was Rodrigo Torres. Tropic One Studio has an office right onsite at the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort, which was very convenient.
Rodrigo did an amazing job with all of the photography and the slide show! He managed to capture every special moment throughout the day without ever being intrusive. He was with us morning to night that day and worked so hard to ensure that we had a real variety of shots and locations. The final photos and slideshow will be treasured forever! At the end of the day, the only things we have left are our memories and these photos!
The resort itself is breathtaking! As a Travel Agent, I have had the pleasure of visiting some very beautiful places, but I have to say that this resort is one of the nicest I have been too. And not only because of it’s beautiful location and exteriors. The resort staff members are some of the kindest and warmest people I have met in a long time.
While it is impossible to name everyone who assisted us, I would like to give a shout out to a few very special staff members who made our stay just that much more memorable! First of all, to a very special bartender, Jorge Elena, who was so friendly and always made time to chat with us for a few minutes. We learned so much about the beautiful Dominican Republic from him. Also, we were in the Royal Service area and our Butler, Manuel Sormiento, was incredible! He even offered his assistance on the wedding day to help us get around and carry things for us. We certainly appreciated that extra help. The bride and groom were also very happy with their Butler, Jose Quinones. He made their wedding stay even more special by providing so many extra touches just for them!
Too often, people are quick to write if they have a complaint but don’t say anything when things go well. My purpose in providing this review is just to acknowledge all of the hard work of all of the staff members we had the pleasure of working with and meeting at the Paradisus Punta Cana Resort!
Every little girl dreams of her wedding day and every mother’s dream is that her daughter can have the day of her dreams!
The Paradisus Punta Cana Resort exceeded all of our expectations, in every respect, and I will certainly recommend them to anyone I know who might be considering a destination wedding!
