“Reserve at Paradisus Punta Canta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2013

My husband and I just returned from our honeymoon here & we had a great relaxing time. We received excellent service for our 5 day stay. We received exceptional services from bartender Julio Garcia! The only negative thing I can say is if you are interested in really mingling with the crowd there, stay at the Paradisus not the Reserve, but for supreme privacy stay at the Reserve.

Booked a last minute inclusive vacation with Expedia 12 days prior & impressed everything came off no problems. Let me start by saying bring major SPF sunscreen, for example 110 or higher then graduate down if your skin can take the intense sun. A definite must is aloe or anything after sun care because you will be literally be paying an arm and leg for the products if you have to buy at the hotel. Be prepared for the unexpected because some feminine items that cost $2.99 at Walmart cost $11.00. We read several reviews on TA about people being discouraged to go off property and at first we thought it was to capture our money at the hotel but we walked down to what people call the "flee market" didn't really have a good experience shopping. Everyone on top of you being very aggressive about buying. Didn't care for the pressure, I wanted to pick up something nice that represented our vacation. We found the guys/vendors walking the beach to be more subtle and easier to deal with.
Hotel is really Paradise Paradisus what you see in the pictures are really what you get in real time. We can't say enough great things about the staff at the hotel all were so wonderful and genuinely appreciative of our business. Never a shortage of hello's in Spanish and warm smiles all day, genuine not fake. Our room was the junior suite with private garden patio very quiet, mini bar stocked, clean room however we did have to remind maid service that there were 3 of us because there was always a shortage of towels. The only thing that would have been the icing on the cake in regards to the room is if the quality of the beds were better to sleep on. They have buffets that run all day but I would say it's worth it to make reservations at several of there special restaurants, don't be late or they will give your reservation away. Lastly one of the perks of booking was $550 in coupons to use on property, they do not give you the coupons until the second day when they commit you to join them for breakfast and that's when the light went off. We showed up for breakfast unannounced, it was our vacation & our concierge seemed a little out of sorts. Then he sat us down and started talking about "CLUB MELIA" yea you know where this is going. It was the only time my husband was out of sorts, we just said we appreciated his time but we are not interested in any time shares so he asked me to sign a paper but not really go to the 90 min tour. We don't put our name to anything without reading it period. After breakfast walked to front desk requested coupons never did use any of them because there was always a catch and the costs were so inflated. The best value is the property itself beautiful beaches, white sands, water sports, good food & drink, friendly staff.

Room Tip: 1278 nice room not far walk from beach & dining. There are golf carts that run up and down the p...

Just returned from a week of relaxation in Punta Cana. Traveling with 2 young boys Paradisus offered something for everyone. This is truly a 5 star accommodations, the decors is comparable to any boutique hotel and the staff was very attentive and eager to make our stay as pleasant as possible. We had diner at a different restaurant every night one better than the next. Clearly an experience we will repeat in the near future and recommend to friends and family.

Our vacation to Punta Cana from June 29 - July 5, 2013 was amazing! We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend the Paradisus Resort in Punta Cana. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed, the Paradisus and its wonderful staff did not disappoint.

The Paradisus was, by far, the most beautiful resort (with respect to the resort grounds and facilities) of all the resorts we saw when driving to pick up other guests on various excursions. There was absolutely no comparison. The Paradisus' groundskeeping staff work diligently to keep this resort looking its best at all times. From our first step into the Paradisus lobby, we knew we were at a special place. The candle lanterns on the "boardwalk" entry, the swings while waiting for the trams, the flamingos near the Aqua restaurant as we dined and the incredible pool area were all examples of some of the things that make this place breathtakingly beautiful. The beachfront is just as well-groomed as the rest of the grounds and is amply supplied with comfy beach lounge chairs and "beachbeds" equipped with comfy pillows and always visited regularly by the Paradisus waitstaff asking to bring you drinks or anything else you might need!

I had heard before coming to the Paradisus that I would be disappointed in the food selection at the buffet and that resort guests had a very difficult time obtaining dinner reservations. With one phone call and a wonderful operator named Ezequiel, I was able to make all of our dinner reservations for the entire week in six different restaurants. All of the restaurants were wonderful. I highly recommend Aqua for lunch if you are unable to get in for dinner. The restaurant, "Fuego", was also exceptional My tip to getting reservations is to call in advance. It should be noted that several restaurants on the resort property including The Grill, Mole and Aqua (three we dined at on the pool side of the resort) do not have air conditioning and guests should know this when reserving a space. If A/C is important, then try Vento, Fuego or Bana. All were wonderful!

We found the rooms to be a little warm/humid. I think Americans are accustomed to very cold air conditioning and this will not happen in these rooms. The system does not seem to be able to get the humidity completely out of the room and it was not really cool enough for our liking overall, but did not in any way take away from our overall experience.

The pool bar staff and the activity staff near the pool were outstanding. The pool was very large with beautiful plant life all around the exterior and even the interior of the pool area. I would say that we would have enjoyed the pool being open in the evenings. There were a few nights after dinner that we would have enjoyed a night swim to cool off, but the pool area was closed.

Activities during the day are ample. We spent probably 65% of our time near the pool and the remainder of our time on the beach. The pool activity staff are fun to be with and extremely friendly. It should be noted that speaking English at the Paradisus is not a problem. This was another thing we heard coming to Punta Cana. Our experience at the Paradisus was the staff spoke English well enough to carry on conversations with us and we never had an issue with the "language barrier" you so often read about in other reviews. Outside of the Paradisus, it is a little more difficult we found, although we took an excursion to Santo Domingo and our tour guide, Monchy, was brilliant.

There are some special staff members that our family and the family that traveled with us especially enjoyed who made our trip memorable: Maikel Aquino, an activity team member, is the best! We all loved Maikel and were genuinely sad to say goodbye to him! Jorge, in the North Avenue Bar, was another staff member that made our stay at the Paradisus very special. Jorge always had a smile and a "high five" for us. Ezequiel Alvarez Acosta, I can not say enough about, as he is the main reason we had such a wonderful vacation. Ezequiel greeted us with a warm smile when we asked for him and from that moment on, we received phone calls to our rooms asking if everything was ok throughout the week. Ezequiel even made a point to stop by after our final dinner at Bana to bid us farewell and again the next morning in the lobby upon checkout. Today, Ezequiel even sent an email asking if we arrived home safely. He is truly a "gem" that the Paradisus Resort is fortunate to have on staff.

We are already discussing our next trip to Paradisus Punta Cana and, next time, we will definitely stay at least ten days. You will love this place!

Room Tip: We selected a Junior Luxury Suite with two double beds. We did not select the "royal service&q...

This is the first time I travel outside the US on vacation and I'm hoping to return to the DR. A group of friends and I booked this trip to attend a wedding and some of us decided to make it a week long vacation.

The only complains I have about our rooms was the fact that there were ants all over the place and the phone lines seem to only work sporadically, Wifi was also spotty in our room. The sofa bed was not very comfortable. The food at the buffet restaurants was average but all other restaurants we had reservations had outstanding food. I loved the seabass I had at Fuego, the beef I had at Vento and the sushi at Bana. Simply delicious.

The beach was beautiful, I loved the live music by the bar in the main lobby and the dancers that used fire at the beach. But the most memorable thing from this trip is how friendly the staff was to all of my friends and me. I befriended pretty much all of the bartenders at the main lobby whom treated me excellent, especially Roberto and Kelvin.

Overall it was an amazing experience and I hope to be back soon.

I am actually here now with 2 girlfriends. Front desk was terrible and getting our rooms was painful, included liquor is rail, in room bar is empty (we called and they brought us 2 can beers), the fridge is hot, the restaurants have limited open times, a 3 bedroom suite has 2 beds and 1 cot. The beach is pretty and we are 3 good friends who make the best out of any situation but.....we'd never come back.
