My family and I recently returned from our vacation at the Hard Rock Punta Cana.
I must say our trip was more than what I expected. We had booked through NJTravel.com, they informed us that it would knock our socks off. And in fact, it did. We even got we got a complimentary bottle of champagne with a rose, as an added bonus.
Room: When we arrived, we were greeted with cold drinks and our room was ready. The staff was able to arrange that our 2 rooms were connected. We were located in a Building 5 in a Caribbean suite, closest to the main lobby (on the second floor, make sure you request a high floor), as ground floor is somewhat underground. I was happy with this location, as we could walk to the lobby restaurants in the evening. Each room had a 2-person Jacuzzi. Each room was super clean and no bugs. The beds were comfortable, as well. Each room has slippers and robes. The Caribbean Sand Suites are closest to the beach and pools. There are also many restaurants near the beach, as well. So, if you are a beach lover then upgrade to a Sand Suite.
Shuttle: They have shuttle service from the buildings to the beach and back. However, you could walk, if you choose. There are shuttle stops throughout the resort and if need be you can flag them down and they will pick you up. My son would go for a ride every morning. It would drive all around the resort and you could see all the on-site activities, tennis, rock climbing, and miniature golf, etc. You can even ride bikes (for free) throughout the resort. They have all sizes of bikes, some for smaller children. Lots of fun.
Spa: The spa is a must. It is the nicest spa I have ever been to in the Caribbean and the US. Each spa experience is unforgettable. The spa is incredible, the largest spa I have ever been in. You feel like you are in an underground tavern. Completely sets the mood. You can use your credits to pay for most of the massage. I got aromatherapy massage (only cost me about $35), but it also comes with a circuit of massage treatments, i.e. the mud treatment. I was so relaxed, that I almost feel asleep before the massage. This set the mood for the entire vacation, so do this as one of your first things.
Pools: There are a lot of pools. We went to a different pool every day. We did find our favorites, which were the Woodstock Pools and Isla Pool. Each of those pools have their own food service too. There are buffet restaurants open for lunch in the beach area, so you don’t need to go back to the lobby to eat. The waitresses were attentive and the bartenders, as well. The lazy river is awesome, so relaxing and fun for all ages. As for tipping, we did tip occasionally, where we saw fit.
Food: I must say the food was awesome. Much improvement from what I heard. My favorite restaurants were Ciao (Italian), Pizzeto (brick oven pizza) and Icy Cone (ice cream). Even room service was exceptional. I’ve stayed at 4 other resorts in Punta Cana and this resort has the best by far.
Other Stuff: There is a free arcade for the kids and a kids club. My son (age 8) did not participate in the kids club, but played the arcade every day after dinner. We did see a few shows during our stay, but some of them were a bit late 9:30PM or so. I did try my luck at the Casino, but didn’t win, of course…who really does?? Nonetheless, this casino is just as good as any AC or Las Vegas casino. Oh, the Fender guitar room service program is amazing. Just to know, that it is available with lessons for free…just adds to the experience. The beach has no seaweed, but the waves are bigger than in other parts of Punta Cana. They are similar to the Northeast beaches. I do believe they may be constructing a reef to settle down the waves a bit. A few days, it was red flag, so we could only go in up to our ankles. But, that didn’t stop us from going to the beach to fly our kite.
The pictures on the internet of the rooms, dining and spa are true. We will definitely go back to this resort. I could go on, but I am running out of room…Have fun! And don’t hesitate to go. Oh, and for you, young professionals, there were a lot there having a blast at the other pools and throughout the resort.
Get a room on the second floor or higher.
