Overall, without weighting the categories, as to different people different aspects are going to have different importance, the mathematical average is 8 out of 10

I stayed at the Majestic Elegance for Valentines' day, 2012. This was a 1 week stay, I am going back yet again for 2 weeks in another 2 months! The resort is beautiful and well kept. The staff are all very helpful and very friendly people. The beach is beautiful and very clean with the exception of peoples cig butts (but this is not the fault of the resort.. it is the inconsiderate people who stay there), the grounds keepers work very hard each day to maintain and beautify the property. I appreciate their work as much as any other staff member as they work the hardest to keep this place visually appealing. The food is also good.There is a wide variety to chose from so if you don't like one or two things you see, then simply eat something else. There is something for everyones taste. The reason people get travel sickness is generally due to constant liquor consumption and then eating a lot of food, then sitting in the sun.. of course this would cause sickness..Also, the local fruit is grown with the local water..so, common sense would tell a person to not eat a lot of fruit to avoid 'the travel runs'. Other than that, the food is fine. The bread is excellent :)
I can't wait to go back. The beach has very fine, soft sand, almost like powder, and the water is crystal clear. I love it! I had little fishes swimming at my feet. It was so cute :)

After a one week stay at the Majestic Elegance, overall it was an awesome time. The atmosphere and people were amazing!! Most importantly the Funjestic crew ("Macula, Jackson, Mosquito, Shorty, Chocolate") made our time there ten times more enjoyable!! Their shows, activities and games were a lot of fun, and they were SO friendly, outgoing, energetic, and entertaining. I couldn't imagine having as good of a time as we all did if it weren't for them!

Also, as for bartenders....Pedro Pablo and Caesar Ishmael made awesome drinks, and whenever they saw us coming they knew exactly what drinks we were coming for!

The ONLY negative about our entire trip was the food; while it wasn't ALL terrible, of the 4 of us who went-we all got sick (some worse than others). We assumed it was the food, however while leaving the country we were told it also could have been the ice in our drinks (made with their water).

I would definitely go back but would be cautious about what I eat/drink. Resort was beautiful!

My boyfriend and I are in early 30s and stayed here Dec 4 - 11, 2012. I'm just going to list pros and cons:

Pros
- The beach is fantastic. Crystal blue water, soft sand, can't ask for more. There are also lots of chairs, we never had a problem finding one.
- The food, even the buffet, exceeded expectations
- We stayed in the Elegance Club. Our room was huge and comfortable, we used the jacuzzi everyday, the VIP lounges with computers and snacks and a concierge were also really helpful.
- The spin class with Elsa was a great workout!

Cons
- We both were sick for a day so we must have eaten something bad & we only ate on the resort
- The gym is ok, but the treadmills kept breaking and 2 of the 4 of them didn't work at all
- This doesn't exactly relate to the resort, but the options for excursions were pretty lame.
- The evening entertainment starts pretty late at 10pm
- We wanted to do some beach activities like volleyball or pick up soccer or something, but there never seemed to be much going on. All I saw were Mr and Mrs sexy contests. Could just be we were never there at the right time though since it did rain on and off throughout our stay

Tips
- If you're bringing a laptop, bring an ethernet cable. There is no wireless in the room, but if you have a cable you can plug in and you're all set at no extra cost.
- Eat the red snapper in the French restaurant
