“absolutely fantastic hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2013

Just spent a brilliant return visit to the RST. We enjoyed our first visit back in 2009 but this one was even better having been upgraded to a swim up room (5309). Service is impeccable around the pool and on the beach. No complaints at all except I think towel cards ought to be issued as towels were constantly left on the sun beds on the beach when people had returned home or couldn't be bothered to take them back to the towel station and occupying beds which could have been used by other people. Apart from this, everything was perfect.

Check in and out was quick and the welcome drink of cava on arrival much appreciated. We ate in all the a la carte restaurants apart from the Japanese (not through choice but didn't have time!) and every one was first class apart from a few, one of which kept us waiting for an hour before being served with our starter. Other than that the food and service couldn't be faulted.

The rooms were always kept clean and tidy and beds were turned down every night ready for us to get into. The gardens are kept meticulous and the gardeners and workmen around the complex are always polite.

The train and golf buggies around the RST are brilliant. The train even stopped for us to load our luggage on on our return and took us the few yards to the lobby!!

Can't really think of anything else to say except you will not be disappointed if you stay at the RST. You have the benefit of being able to eat at any restaurant in the 3 hotels and can reserve the a la carte restaurants easily with the concierge who we found to be very helpful.

Do try La Chantrelle restaurant which has been added onto the Gourmet since our first visit. The food was exceptional but I think our favourite was the French restaurant which we visited on our last night. The lobster and sea bass were to die for. One tip, if you are having steak and you don't want blood in it, ask for very well done and no blood!!

All in all had exceptional service from everyone at the RST and would love to return sometime in the future.

Room Tip: Rooms in block 53 have sun in the afternoon and are nearer reception.

Two years in a row to the Royal Suite and they did not disappoint! My husband and I loved the swim up section (even though we were on the second floor) and we cannot wait to go back. The resort was so tidy. The cleaning staff, unbelievable and the food, the best we've had in Dominican. We are planning our next trip for next year.
Thank you Royal Suites for our amazing vacation.

Room Tip: room 5908, loved it.

Upon Sunday arrival, while checking in, we were told our swim up rooms were not available. We were offered a massage. Not cutting it! We booked this trip in October 2012 and have never upgraded ourselves before to a luxurious hotel. So disappointing. We were then downgraded to a horrible, dirty room, with broken doors and mismatched paint. We went back and complained. Next morning complained some more and my sister and her husband miraculously had a swim up room, but we did not. They then put us in a deluxe suite and told us that we could either stay there, or move to a swim up in 2 days. Well it smelled so bad that we decided to move on Wed to the swim up room. We have now moved 3 times. During the 3rd move, my cell phone somehow vanished from the hotel room. It was never taken out of the room. We searched the room 5 times to no avail. It never showed up. We have now been here 4 days and finally have the room that we paid for back in October. This should never have happened. However, on Thursday the manager called and offered us a dinner on the beach for our troubles. We accepted and decided to do it on our last night. It was worth it. Food and service was divine! I must say the food was amazing at all of the restaurants. However, the staff was not as friendly at the Turquesa as the other 2 connected resorts so we stayed at their lobbies for the service and our entertainment. For the money, I will stay elsewhere next time. A lesson learned, spending more money is not always worth it.

we had a great holiday. This time we made a Upgadre into Swimup. This is definitely worth time. The maid and the butler and the reception were great and very accommodating. The room service was different, sometimes fast, sometimes you need patience. The restaurant and bar Ryal -suites were very good. We will probably go again.

Room Tip: SwimUp rooms are more comfortable.

This has to be one of the greatest resorts in the Caribbean. The entire staff works very hard to make sure that the guests are taken care of in every way. From the moment of check in, until we checked out, not one thing was out of place. People that write the bad reviews of Royal Suites were looking to have a bad time from start, and nothing could be done to please them. Some people just feel better when they are mad. We were celebrating the College graduation of our two girls, and your team made a memory that will be hard to beat and will last a lifetime. Again THANK YOU and especially your STAFF for making the magic happen.

Room Tip: Swim up rooms are a must and extremely quiet. If you want the hustle and bustle, head to the pool or...

We stayed in a swim out room, which was very nice. There were a lot of mosquitoes in the room and we had to immediately have it sprayed. Be sure to bring Off Bug Spray or Cutter. You'll need it at night before you go to bed. It was convenient having access to the pool directly from our room and we took the most advantage of that. Cable was subpar. The majority of the channels were Spanish speaking. There were a few English channels but the reception overall was awful. No HD. The food was terrible. We have stayed at several all inclusive resorts and the food at RST was by far the worse. We were afraid to try many of the cheeses and meats that were laying out at the buffet as they looked warm and old. The Royal Gourmet was decent, a la carte. However, a few of the dishes left quite a bit to be desired. We were in the 5400 building. We were told it was the newer section, but the outside is in desperate need of a paint job. The curtains outside the swim ups need to be washed, bleached even. Very dingy looking. Room service was terrible. How do you burn PIZZA??? The menu claimed a 20-30 minute delivery, but us and our neighbors waited well over 1 1/2 hours for our food to be delivered.

The staff is wonderful and willing to go the extra mile. Our room was cleaned daily and the refrigerator re-stocked daily. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. The beach is nice, hammocks relaxing.

I think this hotel is rated 4 1/2 stars. They need some work before that can be claimed.

Be careful at the Punta Cana airport. We were told that they accept cash only for baggage fees, only to find out that wasn't true, AND we were charged $75 for additional weight over 50lbs that wasn't reported. Luckily, the airline was willing to investigate and we were refunded our money.

Overall, we won't be returning to this resort.

Room Tip: The swim out rooms are totally worth the extra few dollars

My wife and I went for 10 days while my daughter and her girlfriend went for 8. We were initially on the Grand Palladium Punta Cana but a couple days in we traded in our condo for weeks and they upgraded us to the Royal Suites with swim up pool right to your back door. They had various theme nights at the buffets as well as numerous "a la carte" restaurants you could go to. About 90% of the food was to our taste. Not to say the rest was bad...just not our "cup of tea". We attended most of the performances which ranged from dancing and karaoke to magic and circus acts. All were well done and entertaining.

The only 2 issues I had are: 1. Learn basic Spanish phrases as some of the staff don't speak English at all. 2. The map they give you for the grounds is terrible. It's like a kids drawing with no real world references. The units were marked but overall it needs to be redone.

These are 2 minor points that to me do not degrade from the experience.

Enjoy!!!!

We did.
