We've stayed at this resort in 2011 and 2012, both times in April, as a couple.
In 2010 we stayed in the same complex, at the PUNTA CANA section of the PALLADIUM complex and on a walking tour of the resort complex, we noticed the adults only section called the ROYAL SUITES TURQUESA. We found out that this section offers SWIM OUT SUITES, where your luxurious room is on the ground floor and connected to a deck that leads directly into the pool. The beach has drink service and cabana-style beds for relaxing in the shade while enjoying the beautiful water setting.
Once we saw this other "Adults only" section of the complex, we knew we wanted to come back the following year to try a SWIM UP ROOM. UNBELIEVABLE! They are well worth the extra money if you are able to upgrade.
The Royal Section of the resort is the older section closer to the beach and main pool. The New section with all of the swim up rooms and Deluxe Junior Suite Swim Ups are a little farther away from the lobby / beach area, but still a close proximity to everything you need, plus there is a tram and trolley system that the Royal Suites vacationers have the ability to use. You call a car from any of the lobbies or restaurants and they will pick you up. Otherwise the walk to some of the restaurants can be a little far.
The Royal Suites guests also get an extra restaurant called THE GOURMET. These servers and chefs are the best. They really went out of their way to prepare delicious meals for us and also gave us excellent service. There are also other restaurants available to all of the PALLADIUM COMPLEX guests such as: The Steak House, The Japanese, Mexican, Brazillian and Seafood, and Chinese. All of the restaurants are amazing, but the Japanese, Chinese and Gourmet were definitely the best in our opinions.
The Buffets are pretty good but go early if you want bacon in the morning. The lunch buffets are really great and I suggest trying them all since they offer different items.
THE LOBBY: Nice Lobby with great premium drinks. Internet is free so you just have to wait until a computer is available to use to check your e-mail or facebook. 1/2 hour maximum per person which should be plenty of time.
THE STAFF: The staff are generally pretty great. The servers especially are working hard for their tips. I strongly suggest tipping if you want to have the best service. We are good tippers and had fantastic service our entire trip all three times we went. If you are complaining or see complaints about service, take note of whether they tipped well or not. If you are getting a $100 meal at a Gourmet restaurant served with top notch, white glove service, How much would you feel you had to tip if you were in Canada? That's how much you should be tipping. You paid for your food, with your all inclusive, not for the service, so make sure you do that.
POOLS: There are lots of pools for all different types of interests. Relaxing, games, pool bar etc.
THE DISCO - NIGHT LIFE: The Disco is Ok, but it smells bad. All three years it still had that same smell. The Shows at the 2 different theatres rotate through the week with a different show at each theatre each night. The Michael Jackson Show is always the best one anywhere we've ever gone.
YOUR BUTLER SERVICE: You get your own butler, but I suggest getting in touch with them the day you get there to make all of your reservations for the dinners and also for anything else you need, becasue they are not always at their desks. I also suggest tipping for services with them, but don't tip in advance as there may be a differnt butler on duty the next day.
in April 2012, we had our wedding ceremony at this resort and Carolina, the resort wedding coordinator, knows her stuff. It was all so easy for us and our 40 guests to go and stay at this resort for the week. Edouardo the head driver of the golf cars and the resort manager were also extremely accomodating to us and our guests.
If you want to have a relaxing vacation in the sun, with good drinks, a great beach, a swim up room and drink service right to your deck on the pool - I highly suggest checking this place out.
ASK FOR THE NEWER SECTION OF THE RESORT WITH THE SWIM OUT ROOMS. ALSO GET ONE. IF YOU ARE STUCK WATCHING ALL OF THE PEOPLE ENJOY THEIR DECKS RIGHT ON THEIR OWN PRIVATE POOL AREA, YOU WILL BE WISHING YOU HAD!
We will definitely be back again and again!
