“Heaven for cigar lovers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 18, 2011

When we picked out Dominican republic as our vacation destination I did everything I could to get us a tour to Chateau de la Fuente near Santoago. It turned out it would've been a heck of a drive from Punta Cana and we were advised notbto even dream about just renting a car and driving there on our own. Then I looked some more cause I really wanted to surprise my husband with a cigar experience and found out that the largest cigar factory in the world where to this day the caigars are hand-rolled was right there in La Romana, just a couple of hours away from Punta Cana. I contacted the factory directly and booked a private tour. We had our own guide who took us around the entire facility, where 4000 people work and an average worker rolls 250-300 cigars a day!!! It was an unforgettabke experience! The shop manager and our guide who was the PR manager were both very knowledgable and helpful. We smoked a cigar in the shop after the tour and bought plenty of cigars to take home. You will not be able to find this tour as a part of the offer at your hotel, so organize it yourself and definitely get a taxi to take you there. We paid 100 eur for the whole day with a driver and he took us everywhere! You dont have to worry about the crazy, horrible traffic in the country and the consequences of a possible accident - it is always the foreigners' fault! Pay some more and do it in style! ;)

“A must for cigar lover”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2011

Had a private tour trough factory, we have seen a complex process. I am a cigar smoker and this was just great for me. Even if you are not to much familiar with cigars, you can still visit this place, you will see what can not be seen anywhere else. Great!

“Amazing factory!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2011

We were staying in Punta Cana and the taxi ride to the factory was well worth the cost. Great time to view the countryside and villages from Punta Cana to La Romana. Amazing to see the factory in operation. My husband is a cigar enthusiast and seeing the factory in person gave a new respect to hand rolled cigars. Everything is done by hand. However we did feel a little rushed through the tour.

I attended the 1 hour tour. You will be amazed of how much effort is required for the manufacture of fine cigars.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2011

It's amazong to see and understand all the effort and work related to made a cigar. all by hand, intesive in manual labor, lot of people, lots quality control that you do not even imagen when you smoke a cigar.
al the processes involved to maintain the tabacco, all the countries providing tobacco to creat one songle cigar.
And it;s the biggest cigar factory in the world.
Outstanbding brands and product quaility like Montecristo and Romero y Julieta.
a must see.
