We went here really just to experience Swimming with Dolphins. We chose the Dolphin Swim program, which was a completely structured 30-minutes in the water with two dolphins. It was truly an unforgettable experience -- and our children (aged 8 & 9) especially enjoyed it. They are still talking about it! However, the rest of Ocean World is pretty cheesy. It was not at all crowded when we were there, so we got to experience almost all of what is on offer (which isn't much). It is tremendously over-staffed, perhaps because there are indeed people trying to sell you time shares and other stuff there. The food is barely edible (actually awful) but is included in the price and they do not allow you to bring in your own food. Speaking of the price.... oh my, it's eye-watering!! We spent around $700 for a family of four (beware: photos of your dolphin swim will add another $100 to your bill). Definitely a ONCE in a lifetime experience. If you aren't interested in swimming with the dolphins then it's not worth it. Despite great effort on the part of the staff, the shows (namely shark and sea lion) are corny and mildly entertaining rather than informative or passionate. Furthermore, some of the stuff there isn't just tacky, it's borderline inappropriate for children (such as the marketing images for the casino showing objectified, scantily clad women). The place has a somewhat soulless feel about it, apart from the dolphin swim, which is just such a thrill that it sort of makes the rest worth it. But a nagging question remains: are we exploiting these animals for our own benefit?
