Felt like this trip was never going to happen but we made it there and now I'm wishing I could have stayed even longer! First trip ever with my sister and our friends with no kids. What a great time we had everyday! We stayed Oct 17-24th. Can't say enough about this place! All the staff are so sweet and amazingly attentive to your needs. We were welcomed with a smiles bright and early every morning all the way thru the evening. Everyone is always making sure you are happy and feel comfortable. This is my 2nd time back. I don't travel anywhere out of the country twice. This trip was even better than the last! All the ladies I went with want to go back again!
ENTERTAINMENT: Wow All the guys are so amazing I don't even know where to begin with them. I truly came back to the Tropical due to the fun I had with Lenny Craviz and George of the Jungle prior. Some of the staff has changed since last years visit but they are all still so wonderful! I walked down the stairs to the pool and heard my name over the microphone. Lenny Craviz apparently never forgets a face! After the first day Lenny Craviz, John Cena, Jorge of the Jungle, Big Bamboo and Puchi Puchi remembered all five of us and made sure we enjoyed each and every moment of our time spent by the pools and shows at night. They are truly the reason I will be returning to Puerto Plata again! There's just so much to say about all of them. Everyday we had Spanish lessons with Lenny Craviz (me gusta). He is the best! Listening to his voice and seeing his adorable smile everyday was enough to make me keep coming back for more! I was able to use some of the words on my trip and now that I'm home. I wish I had him here everyday to teach me more! When Lenny Craviz is not doing lessons he always comes around to chat or dance or even swim and play basketball. I think whatever we would have asked he would have helped us out with. Very personable. Such a kind heart. Then we have John Cena at water aerobics directly after spanish. Wow ladies! I had never done water aerobics before but after reading all the reviews prior to my trip I had everyone psyched to attend. John Cena's abs are some serious motivation. This guy needs to do infomercials. Once you attend these classes you will find yourself there everyday! What great smiles and personality those two men have. We all tried so hard to let talk them into coming back to Chicago with us.
Also met Big Bamboo and Puchi Puchi and Banana on this trip. Three more sweet hearts! Always greeting you, checking in and trying to get you involved in the games and dancing.
Don't let me forget my George of the Jungle greeting you with a happy face everyday at the toalla booth. George is another sweetheart and was so glad to see him still there. He has tons of books and magazines along with games etc. you can borrow or play with him. We donated ours to his library, you should too.
Lenny Craviz, John Cena, George, Big Bamboo and Puchi Puchi and Banana are all so personable and kind I don't know what Tropical would be without them. These guys are at the pool everyday. Ever so personable and fun. They got us doing games by the pool two or three times, dance lessons at the pool with them on Dominican Day and at the pool bar multiple nights not to mention being in most of the shows or inside the Coliseum to make sure you were enjoying your time every night. They just enjoy clowning around with you too. On last visit they were able to go to one of the night clubs but now that there is only ICE they are not allowed. Though I feel horrible for all of the hours they have to work I wish they were still allowed at the club with you. These boys are the Tropical and the reason we keep coming back! I feel we made some great friends here and will remember them always! They are what a vacation should be filled with "fun in the sun"!
OVERALL: Our first trip we ran out of towels allot in building four this time in the Villas building 75 and 76 we had no complaints at all. The rooms were clean everyday. Beds were comfy and we had plenty of towels and toiletries everyday. We would have liked a few more waters daily however never asked for them. Other than that there was absolutely nothing wrong with any of our rooms. We had our own swimming pool and lounge chairs right along with kitchen, living space and very own balcony in each room. The service was phenomenal both with housekeeping. Our housekeeper was so sweet and greeted us everyday.
Wonderful service at the pool bar every day and great music too! VIP Beach could have checked in a smidge more but I personally stayed by the pool and pool bar to be near all the entertainment going on each day so I didn't mind. I missed Juan Batisto (sp) at VIP this year.
FOOD: If you are American that likes allot of flavor you probably will have some complaint about the food. All I have to say is it is all inclusive and you get what you pay for. So far every all inclusive trip I have gone on out of the country you have some meals that are absolutely wonderful and others that are just ok. It is what it is. Also on occasion they can't keep up with the amount of people or quantity that we consume always. This is normal again not a complaint. We ate at Casablanca buffet for Breakfast, many lunches and many dinners. The theme for dinner changes nightly. Breakfast was fine for me but many would have liked multiple egg lines and bacon or sausage everyday. The bacon goes quickly when they have it. I thought everything tasted fine and was able to find something every night and day when I was Tengo Hambre so I didn't mind. My group did eat at the Pearl for one breakfast in Confressi, Blue Lagoon for midnight snack and drinks, Bellini the Italian restaurant which is always good and Trapiche Paradise for Mexican Cuisine. The welcome party is the fabulous Sunday night buffet. There is so much food it's crazy! My belly was full everyday. Only suggestion I have is for them to open more restaurants at night so you have a bit more of a selection and to allow reservations. We were able to get seats at least one sit down restaurant everyday we tried after 2 pm.
There is tons of friendly security all over the grounds and a few cameras all day and all night so if you are lost they will help you find your way where you need to go and there is shuttle service also. Also you can by a room safe key so you don't need to worry about carrying your belongings. I left my belongings by the pool and on VIP daily and everything was fine.
All in all for the price of around $800 American dollars for flight and all booking via Cheap Caribbean I would highly recommend you travel here and personally hope I can go back again really soon. I got exactly what I expected for every dollar spent and am just so appreciative to all of the staff for being so kind, welcoming and helpful to us each and everyday.
Thanks again to THE ENTERTAINMENT: LENNY CRAVIZ, JOHN CENA, GEORGE OF THE JUNGLE, BIG BAMBOO, PUCHI PUCHI AND BANANA for your daily hospitality! You guys are the absolute best!
