This was a great trip ,the scenery was breath taking , awsome beachs, two large pools, drinks and food round the clock. The casino and the disco in meranange were also a lot of fun. the micheal jackson show is a must see...

The grounds were perfect. The service was excellent. All of our tours started on time. I can't think of anything bad about this place. I loved it!

Where should I start? The room - beautiful and completely spotless all the time, a few dollars a day left for the ladies cleaning your room and everything will be perfect. The food - never made it to the 'a la carte' restaurants because the buffet is so good that if you can't find something new to eat every day you need to give your head a shake. The people - if you've ever been on a holiday anywhere you will never find people as beautiful as this. The Dominicans will do what they can when they can to make you comfortable and happy. The beach - perfect, if you want shade, you got it, if you want sun, you got it, just move your chair all you lazy complainers. I swam in the ocean everyday, the beach and the water was so nice there is no need to go to the pool, if you want a pool stay home. The hotel - absolutely incredible. Definitely a 5 star establishment, the reviews that said there were rats, those people were more than likely influenced by all the incredible Dominican Rum and El Presidente Cerveza, because I never saw one. The grounds are kept perfect, the service is second to none, and there are no beach peddlars or time share salesmen. If you've ever been to Mexico you know all about the pushy timeshare salesmen, and how they can be incredibly annoying. You will never want for anything at the Bachata, drinks flow, there is always something to eat, and the rooms are immaculate. So don't listen to the complainers and have a good time at this incredible resort.

We loved our stay at the Bachata from April 3rd to April 10th. There was no sign of illness running through the resort and we ate all types of food from the buffet including fruit ,salad and fish.

Our room was very clean and the beds were confortable. Our children 10yrs and 7 yrs loved the pool and snorkeling at the beach. You do need water shoes as the beach is rocky , the beach is wider and nicer infront of the Merenge and Mambo. I would still stay at the Bachata because the pool area is nicer, but if you don't mind walking you can save a bit of money and stay at the Merenge and use the pool at the Bachata. Ask for a room near the Bachata and you'll have the best of both worlds. The entertainment team is also better at the Bachata.

The food was great, always hot, fresh and very well presented. We even had lobster on Thursday night and it was pretty good (Bachata only, not offered at the Merenge). The staff at the Bachata were very helpful, happy and always willing to try to accomodate your requests. The entertainment staff worked tirelessly to make everyone welcome and enjoy thier stay. Great shows at night ( remeber this isn't broadway) the dancers worked very hard and the quality of dancing was very good to professional....We would go back to the Bachata and these are the same words we heard form many people we talked to there. This resort has a lot of heart the staff are second to none if you compare to resorts in similar locations( ie Cuba, Mexico). We have traveled to many Caribbean locations for the past 15 years and you can't beat the value for your dollar. Enjoy!

My family and I visited the Riu Bachata from March 19- March 26!! We all had a wonderful time. The greenery was very lush and beatiful!! All the greenery around the hotel was designed at kept up very well. The food was excellent and was available at almost all times of day. The drinks were endless and very very good. Bartenders were extremly friendly and in fact everyone there always greeted you with a smile and an "hola!" The animation team was wonderful. Always getting you to participate in activities, however never pushing you if you didn't want to participate. It did rain a few days, however we were still entertained. The pier with the lighthouse was beatiful and provided a great view. The beach was wonderful. There were some shops on the ends of the beach in which you could shop, there is also a great shopping area in the hotel area. We are deffinetly going back!!! Hopefully very soon! I recomend that you would also visit the Riu Bachata. As you probably know you could spend time at the other two resorts. We only felt the need to ventured out of the Bachata's hotel area once to the Merengue. It was also nice, however we enjoyed the Bachata more. We did walk the whole beach, and the whole beach was beautiful. WE LOVED IT!!!

Wonderful Time - Definitely going back!!My husband and I and two friends stayed at the Riu Bachata from March 27-April 3 and had a magnificent time. I truly can not think of one negative thing we experienced there. The beach is continuous in front of all three Riu resorts so it is a nice long beach and is great since there is plenty of shade, plenty of sun, and lots of lounge chairs. The beach also has this soothing warm breeze coming off the water. The massage shacks on the beach are the best! The pools all looked nice and many enjoyed them, but it is very hot around them so we stayed on the beach. Rooms are very nice (great mini bar in room), plenty of bars to choose from and the food was good. The resort was spotless and the landscaping was very impressive and well maintained. We did the monster truck safari and also spent a day at Sosua beach. They were a wonderful way to see the beautiful country. The Dominican Republic definitely does not lack in beauty! The illness or virus that many spoke of in early March was none existent when we were there. There may have been some sporadic cases while we were there but we did not see or hear about them. There was no mention of anyone getting ill except for the occasional cases of ?travelers diarrhea?. But if anyone does their research properly before they travel they will learn that 20-50% of all travelers, no matter where you are traveling to, will experience ?travelers diarrhea?, so come prepared just in case.Between my husband and I, we have traveled to Mexico, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Bahamas, and Dominican Republic so we have some experience with the all-inclusive resorts of the Caribbean. The Riu is a wonderful 4 star resort. It is not a 5 or 6 star resort, remember that and don?t expect it to be a 5 or 6 star resort. You will not be pampered as though you are at a 5 or 6 star resort but you will be well taken care of like you should at a 4 star resort. Do your research and find a good price - that always makes vacation more enjoyable. We paid a good price but I did research for a few months before booking our trip. The Riu was perfect for us and will be for many, but not all - so do your research first and find a place that you will love and enjoy. A note to everyone traveling and most of all to those who wrote negative reviews about the Riu you should remember this; if you are looking for a home away from home, then why travel? Stay at home. For those of you looking to meet new people, see different cultures, eat new and interesting food, try new things and enjoy life to the fullest, then come and join the rest of us who love that spice of life that can so wonderfully be enjoyed while traveling. The Riu was perfect for us and we are looking forward to traveling there again very soon, possibly next year if the price is right.

The rooms, the staff and the service are all very good,Having read other reviews on this site the evening before we went out we were not totally surprised to come across a rat or 2 on our first evening, they seemed to be confined to the areas around the main resteraunt and this combined with the scruffy looking carpet on the resteraunt floor and some muck that had been brushed to one side but not picked up made us decide to eat at other resteraunts/snack bars at the resort. The Merrengue was much better presented.I've never been to a 5star resort and had to worry about rats before but if you walk along the pathways at night and look down they quite often dart across in front.Lets get away from all that nobody else seemed to notice them or as we did decided to ignore their existence and get on with having a good holiday which isn't difficult at this resort. The sickness that you will have read about in other reviews seems to have been sorted out, didn't hear of anybody with any dodgy stomach problems which is very odd considering the amount of food and drink available. The cocktails are excellent and if the drinks aren't strong enough for you they don't have a problem topping it up if you ask although I tipped the barman in the disco one night for this service, don't remember much else about that night except that place was packed and only had one barman serving but every time our glasses were nearly empty they were soon filled up.The beach party was really good, a trolley turns up with the equipment next a bunch of chefs turn up with loads of ribs, steaks, pork chops, chicken, baked potatoes veg and much more. While the chefs get the barbie under way a group of dancers arrive followed by a carribean band, these guys can also set up a bar at any location at the drop of a hat so with all the ingredients there it was time to party and they did, the animacion team were on hand to encourage people to join in although this is not compulsory if you don't want to. Another reviewer mentioned the way that the animacion team were dressed, got to agree with that one, they would often enter the stage in the evening to present the show in scruffy jeans, sorry it just doesn't look right at a 5 star hotel. I wouldn't want anybody to be put off going to this Riu Resort we had a great holiday just me and my wife on our 25th wedding anniversary, our main problem is that if this had been our first visit to the Dominican on all inclusive we probably would have been knocked out by the Riu but we have already been to another hotel twice and have booked again to return in December. It's only a 4 star+ but after visiting the Riu I would have to give our favourite hotel 6 stars,If you haven't already booked then check out the reviews on this site for the Bahia Principe in San Juan. This small hotel group could teach the Riu people a few things. If you have already booked for any of the Riu Hotels at this resort don't let my review put you off, you will have a great holiday.
