Myself, my boyfriend, my family and family friends returned on Tuesday 20th of August after a two week stay at Iberostar Costa Dorada. We had a brilliant time!
We arrived at the hotel at around 4 o'clock local time, we were greeted with a cold drink and friendly staff. We had booked 3 rooms one for myself and my boyfriend, another for my mum dad and sister and the final one for the family of four. The lady at first choice had advised we book 3 rooms with the family of four sharing the one room but booked as there youngest in our room to save costs. This had lead to a bit of confusion when we checked in. My mum had already emailed the hotel twice explaining the situation and that the family of four would need a room with two double beds and that we would prefer the three rooms next to each other on the ground floor. We got to our rooms which were very clean, spacious and with a sea view, all next to each other on the ground floor. However the family of four had been put into a room with only 3 single beds between the four of them and no extra room for another bed. They went back up to reception to complain, reception had said that was the biggest available and they would have to pay extra if they moved, so they stayed put.
Other than that the rooms were good, the maid would always leave towel art and flowers and they were spotless.
The food was lovely! We're a group of families who enjoy good food with one of us being a chef but also we had a very fussy one. There was honestly something for everyone and if anyone claims they had a problem with the food maybe they should stick to self catering holidays because this was the best AI food we've had! There was everything from meat and seafood that were cooked fresh in front of you, rice, potatoes, pasta, breads, vegetables, salads to chips, pizza and hot dogs. The Mexican, Brazilian and seafood restaurants were enjoyable the best one was definitely the seafood!
That then brings me to the drinks they were all great toowith international brands including Bombay sapphire, Gordon's and baileys. The cocktails were delicious especially the kir royale, the kamakaze shots were lethal but very good. All the bar staff were so friendly especially Kennedy and Williams at the lobby bar, they always had a smile on their face and very attentive.
The pool was a lovely temperature not at all too cold to get into, however it's definitely in need of the refurb it's due, the wall of the pool had a green tinge and had the tendency to colour white swim wear a green colour. The pool bar was very good, you could have a late breakfast in there from 10-12 which was great if you wanted a lie in! The food in there was good at lunch time, the roast chicken and the nachos were a favourite!
The beach was ok the staff did their best to rake up the seaweed and the locals trying to sell weren't too much of a pain, they were only trying to make a living and were friendly enough if you said no thanks. A couple of times I took a walk up to the market with one of the guys from the beach they had the usual holiday souvenirs and liked a good haggle which was fine by me. On the beach it was quite windy which meant you did get sand blasted a bit but the hotel can't do anything about that and it's not an issue. The beach bar was good with help your self soft drinks there as well as at the pool bar.
The salon/ spa was very good, with a good variety of treatments. I had a BNS massage and reflexology, I'm a beauty therapist myself so I know what the expect and they were very professional and good quality treatments.
All the staff at the hotel were so kind and so friendly! They were genuinely happy people and I didn't come across one that wouldn't go out of their way to help you!
This leads me to finish at the most positive of the holiday... The star friends! They were excellent, they were always on top form and so friendly, I cannot compliment their service enough. They do work long days but never are tired or stop going. The shows they put on are of a high standard and the entertainment during the day was fantastic! The beach BBQ and paella were great fun! Big shout out to Pepsi cola and Hulu Hulu they were such fun and kept us laughing all holiday. Popeye, shakira, Dee Dee and Jonathan were very entertaining too.
Only negatives were the confusion with the room but that was partly first choices fault too and a few of us did get dodgy stomachs, my dad was quite ill in bed with his for a couple of days, however that's to be expected when holidaying abroad with different climates and foods.
Overall an amazing holiday and I wouldn't hesitate to go back!
