“Bad experience and definately not accessible for people with disabilities or elderly”
What a disappointment! The resortl was run down and worn. Very crowded with lots of noise. Entertainment / obnoxious loudspeaker went on and on till midnight and then drunken Yahoos till the wee hours. Don't get a room facing main pool if you want to sleep. On the positive side, the hotel staff did accommodate us with a room change when we requested it. Wifi was available, but not accessible in the rooms, you had to be in the lobby and get a new password every day to get very slow service.
The beach was nice enough, but crowded and we were inundated with vendors selling touristy goods non stop.
The food was awful, especially the buffet. Bland, tasteless, and questionable ingredients. Four of our group were violently sick with gastroenteritis, which ruined our trip.
You had to line up to book the a la cart restaurants, some which were already booked more than a week ahead. One of them was upstairs and not accessible to anyone with a wheelchair or mobility impaired.
If anyone is mobility impaired, don't go here. No elevators at the resort, so only ground floor rooms can be accessed. No accessible showers, no grab bars in the bathrooms and no raised toilet seats. Beach is not accessible either, as the one walkway ends right as the beach starts. You can go no further in a chair & it's still a long walk to the water. If you do manage to get into a beach chair, you are a sitting duck for all the beach vendors.
The service was spotty in the main areas of the resort, but the housekeeping staff was very intrusive, a line of them everyday, one to made beds, another for towels, another bringing water ( resort water is unusable/unsafe)., etc. A quick knock and unlock and enter before you could respond, if you even heard them.
Took a city tour which was awful - Driver would not accommodate our requests on where we wanted to go - turned out he called ahead to wherever he was taking us & had people/kids waiting to beg for money. We were told the van would seat 10 to 12, there were seats for 7 people, not counting the driver & guide. The 9 of us were packed in for an uncomfortable drive.
Sports equipment was pitiful, with a $5:00 insurance fee, which we refused to pay as the equipment was so old and cobbled together, it would be impossible to damage any further.
I was so glad to leave this place, nothing to do but drink cheap, sugary drinks and fend off vendors on the beach,
.

We are very sorry to hear that you had a bad experience with our hotel and that some of your party were taken ill. We would like to clarify that all of our health and safety procedures are very strict and they are audited by Crystal, an external specialist. The major Tour Operators also have their own health and safety teams controlling quality in all of the local hotels, but we do recognize that illness does occasionally happen at all resorts. As for the mobility impaired issue, it is true that one of our a la carte restaurants is on the second floor and there is no lift, but every other place in the resort is wheel chair accessible, there is even a hut at the beach reserved for them as well as a washroom. We have 4 disabled rooms available with grab bars, high toilet, wider bathroom door, etc. We are very sorry that you were not informed of these amenities. We certainly hope your friends are feeling better and that this experience will not deter you from returning to the Dominican Republic.
