“Wonderful place to enjoy the Colonial Zona from!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

We found Casa Sanchez online and what a find it was. We were treated so well. The accomodations were wonderful, clean and very comfy. Breakfast was included every morning, and Jonathan our host was remarkable, both personally as well as full of info. When we needed a taxi he went down with us got the taxi and made sure we were not over charged. He suggested places to go within the Colonial, as well as how to get to one of the La Sirenas (which we could walk to) and then how to get to the Chinese area, where to eat that was good and economical and more if we wanted it. He explained where to go within the Colonial zone to see this and that. He is chuck full of info. All that on top of showing us the entire hotel, that offered a pool table, comfy couches, a pool with jets and a lounger in it. As I mentioned very comfy rooms with bathrooms I'd like in my own home. AND he was always making sure we were ok and what could he do for us. YEP will return with our guests that come to visit with us. It is the only spot we will go to for the night. Thank you again Jonathan for a fabulous time.

Room Tip: Make sure you take a swimsuit, an umbrella and a good camera.

I really can't praise this place enough. I've just spent 3 weeks traveling around the Dominican Republic and stayed in 7 different places, most of them really nice, but this was by far the best. Firstly, the basics are all in place: I found my room spotlessly clean and it has been cleaned/tidied every day of my stay, whilst the place is also very safe and secure, with a security guard posted at night in the lobby. Jonathan, the owner, is very much involved in the day-to-day running of the hotel which I always think makes a difference - he's there to sort any problems (not that there have been any) and to make sure his guests are happy and comfortable. He has a friendly staff too, all Dominicans and all very personable. Between them they really do do their best to make sure you have everything you need, whether it's advice on restaurants or an extra towel for your room. There's a really nice laid back feel to this beautifully designed hotel and I was quite stunned when I first walked in - the little pool in the centre of the ground floor is fantastic and the whole place has been so thoughtfully designed, furnished and decorated - subtle and stylish. Jonathan invites you to use all the communal areas which include an upstairs, semi-terrace lounge area which is a wonderful place to relax and spend time. There's a kitchen too for all to use, cleaned every day and very well equipped. The location, in the heart of the colonial zone but on a quiet side street, is great too. In short, it's everything I look for in a place to stay and when I return to Santo Domingo I will stay here again.

Stayed one night at Casa Sanchez and was thrilled with the hotel. My husband and I loved the uniqueness and charm of the facilities. Loved the rooftop garden and all the staff (Ellie, Night Watchman, and the young lady at the internet office) went out of their way to be welcoming and helpful. We were sorry to leave and we will definitely be staying there again! We have already recommended Casa Sanchez to friends who travel to Santo Domingo regularly! Wonderful location just off the El Conde district and right in the heart of the historical Colonial area! Freddy is very nice and we were disappointed to not meet Jonathan but that gives us something to look forward to in the future!

Room Tip: We loved the rooms right off the pool for their authentic charm! Continental style breakfast on th...

Stayed three nights at Casa Sanchez and loved it. The hotel is situated in the beautiful old town, close to restaurants and nightlife, as well as supermarkets and everything else you need. The owner (Jonathan) is very friendly and knows a lot about Santo Domingo and is happy to share his knowledge. Gay friendly. Great staff!
There is also a business center across the street if you need a meeting room or conference room for business travel.
