Arrived on a Sunday night and noticed there was road construction on the main avenue in front of hotel. Next two nights heavy machinery worked all night making sleeping a challenge. Hotel should have provided a room on opposite site of property overlooking a quiet street. Facility is run down and not kept up!

My fiance and I stayed here for three days, very quick and short weekend. Upon arrival staff was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, great ocean views. Hotel is right on the Malecon strip, tons of restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast buffet style was a mix of Dominican and American traditions very tasteful. Pool was nice, very little chairs around the pool so head down early to grab a lounge chair. I would highly recommend.

The staff is very friendly and professional...always ready to help. The hotel is located in a great location and room had a great view of the Caribbean Sea. Did not have the chance to check the pool and other facilities but restaurant and breakfast bar on 5th floor was nice and staff was again, professional. Nice location for business or even if just visiting Santo Domingo.

I stayed at Hilton Santo Domingo for about a week in November 2014. I enjoyed the stay, and would definitely consider staying again when I come back to Santo Domingo. Below are pros and cons (not many):

Pros:
(1) Located on Malecon (Av. George Washington), meaning it's located on the ocean. Unfortunately, the ocean is not for swimming and there is no beach (I heard many times that there are sharks around), but you can enjoy the view, especially if you get a room with ocean view. My room had a great view (see my pictures).
(2) Staff are very efficient and nice. I was told that this hotel is especially efficient because it is used a lot for business. There's no frustration that you often experience in a hotel for holiday.
(3) Very clean. Feels new or very well maintained.
(4) Has a great pool and bar overlooking the ocean and Malecon.
(5) Can walk to the touristic neighborhood (Zona Colonial) for probably 45 min. Yes, it's not too close but I enjoyed the walk (or morning run). It takes 10-15min (depending on traffic) with a cab.
(6) Free and fast wireless internet connection.
(7) My plan included breakfast, which was very good. There are usual stuff like various kinds of bread, salad, fruits, cheese, hamon, and various cooked dishes. Plus there was a station for omelets, pancakes, eggs, etc... Indeed, oftentimes I ate too much the breakfast I had to skip lunch.
(8) There is a nice Dominican-cuisine restaurant (Adrian Tropical) for 5 min walk.

Cons
(1) A bit far from the center of tourism (Zona Colonial).
(2) It seems that there was (or will be) casino in the second floor, but it was closed. Not that I enjoy casino, but maybe it matters for some.
(3) The cab! If you can speak Spanish or adventurous you can take a cab on the street or call one, and they are super cheap, but the cabs waiting at the hotel are quite expensive. Of course, the car is nice, and the drivers are nice, but it costs more than twice as much to get to Zona Colonial (15 dollars one way instead of about 5 dollars or less) for example, and it accumulates.
(4) Probably you don't want to walk around the hotel late at night. It's applied for all areas except for touristic area I guess.

All in all, I like the efficiency of the hotel. Unless I really want to stay near Zona Colonial, I would stay at Hilton again.

Room Tip: Definitely a room with ocean view.

On arrival greeted by bell staff/Reception, service in top, however if you stay on the Executive floor, Internet should be free, nobody wants to go from the 20th Floor to the lobby all the time, Breakfast, Gym/Pool was great, dinner at the restaurant one night had a lot to desire. One not so good meal, shall not take the pleasure away from the stay, overall a very pleasent stay at the hotel
