My boyfriend and I stayed here for two nights, one at the beginning of our trip to the Samana Peninsula, and one at the end. Our stays here were great bookends for our experience in the DR. The hotel is located in a lovely historic building, just steps from the Plaza España and withing walking distance of everything you need to see in the Zona Colonial. The lobby is decorated beautifully, and the rooms are spare but tasteful. There are two double beds in each room, which can be a little awkward for a couple used to sharing a larger bed. The mattresses are a little on the hard side, but we slept fine. There is A/C in the rooms, which felt luxurious after returning from the Samana Peninsula, where we had much more rustic lodgings. The front door has an iron gate which is locked at all times, and we felt very safe. There is a water cooler in the hallway right outside the rooms, which was another luxury. Breakfast is complimentary and served on a nice, shady patio. The rooftop is also a pleasant place to relax, offering great city views and comfortable seating. The hosts were gracious and accommodating, even staying late so we could check in after our 11PM flight arrival time. We will definitely stay here again if we return to Santo Domingo.
