Hotel: Very Trendy with Three floors.
The first floor has a Kitchen/ Patio and office. The Second floor has six bedrooms and washer and dryer. The Third floor has a roof patio with two to three beds for tanning in the sun or lounging in the night.
Location: It is next to a police station, near the center of most museums and walking distance from many restaurants.
Breakfast: M-F 8-10am Sat-Sun 9-11am. Warm Rolls, four different types of marmalades, fresh fruit, deli meat and cheese, and eggs any style just ask.
Service: The maid was kind enough to do our laundry after spending a week at another resort for under $10. They were able to advise us on things to do in the city, helped arrange transportation and even arranged to have our money exchanged on a Sunday when most businesses are closed!
Rooms: We stayed in a two bed room one was a twin and the other was a full. Our only complaint was that we are not accustomed to both of us sleeping in a small full sized bed as my husband is a 6'3" and a broad man. Otherwise, the rooms were neat and comfortable. We had an air conditioned room with a fan and often had to turn one or the other off because it got too cold. Which is amazing in comparison to the stifling heat outside. Another upside, free wi-fi!
All in all, we had a wonderful stay and can't wait to return.
Places to check out:
Playa Juan Dolio- go to the public area and visit a restaurant called Popeye's. Do not go to Aura no matter who suggests it. They found it fit to charge us $10 American Dollars for 2 sodas!!!!!
Meson de Bart- Authentic Dominican food on Calle Hostes and eat in the upstairs air conditioned floor. Order the Crab Empanada.
Cafe el Conde- Have drinks and people watch. It seems everyone and everything passes through here. Food is not great fare but sandwiches are ok.
Believe it or not there is a China Town not far from the hotel very interesting.
Just walk around and take in the history.
