“a warm ambience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2012

Like the beauty of the zona colanial the doors opened of this hotel and what the zona colonial reflects, you feel it directly back when you enter this hotel, the old architecture good preserved.
With cozy rooms whats remind me of mine trips to malaga and florance. With friendly employers and good service made this stay a warm memory.

“An inspring gem.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2012

Pleasant breakfast, rooftop jacuzzi, gorgeous courtyard area in the shade of a mangotree overlooking the modest, refreshing pool. Dinner and cocktails a little over-priced and a great effort to keep the room mosquito-free, but even so, the personality of this establishment made up for it.

“Wonderful staff, hotel with character”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2012

We stayed here in March with our three young children - had the Isabella la Catolica suites which are right off of the lobby. I thought this might be a little uncomfortable having our door open out to where staff always was sitting, but it ended up not being a problem at all. They were very quiet. The rooms were large - one had three single beds and the other had a double bed. To access the bathroom you had to go through the room with the double bed, out into a private small courtyard type room (which had a very large tile bathtub that was so large it seemed crazy to try and use so we didn't), and then into the bathroom for the toilet and shower. Not a big deal but our kids weren't so good with opening and shutting the doors behind them on their trips to the bathroom which allowed a lot of mosquitoes to get into the bedroom.

We spent more than probably the average amount of time in the hotel during the day because of our young children needing naps. There was ample space in the lobby/dining/pool area to wander around. This was a nice time for us to practice our Spanish with the staff. They were wonderful with our young children. The breakfast was simple but good. We ate one lunch meal there as well which was very good and ended up bringing in food for most dinners that we ate in their dining area. Our children enjoyed the pool but it was small and kind of right in the middle of things so not something you would go sit in your swimsuit and lounge around. Luckily our youngest (22 months) was at an age where he understood about the water - I was really nervous that he'd fall in and there would be no way to block off access to it other than keeping him shut in the bedroom. There is a dog and cat on property which also thrilled the children.

The location was great for wandering in the Zona Colonial.

“Great breakfast but overpriced tiny room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2012 via mobile

Good things: great, large breakfast of fruit, eggs, toast with butter and jam, coffee, and juice. Nice little pool for kids. The location is excellent-a couple blocks from the pedestrian street and withing walking distance to all Zona Colonial attractions. The staff was helpful and friendly.

Bad things: we had a room with a twin bed below and queen upstairs. The room was tiny and very cramped. The bathroom was so small that you have to sit sideways on the toilet. The stairs are incredibly steep. I felt the room was very overpriced. There is a jacuzzi on the roof but it is not heated. There was a room full of about 15 locals that partied until 1130pm and seemed to have just paid to stay for several hours. I will look for a different hotel when we return.

dear client
thank you for your honnest and sensible opinion (unfortunately some competitors entice clients to put defamation messages with Tripadvisor blessings).
The Columbus room you picked is the most affordable among the 4 categories we have, Columbus because it is in the 16th century structure which we had to respect and we were not allowed to move walls, therefore a bit tiny, not so different from hotesl I stayed in Sevilla or Granada fro same reasons, next time we offer you a free upgrade to an Antonetta Deluxe room, much more spacious.

“Nice cozy place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2012

We stayed only for one night, but arrived at 3 am due to our late arriving flight time. I was nervous that no one would answer the door at such a late hour, but he did instantly. Service at breakfast was courteous and yummy (eggs, cheese, ham, toast, fruit), and the coffee strong just like we needed. The hotel is very cute, and the room clean and pretty. It looks just like the pictures (I'm looking at the -small- pool right now). Light, airy, and pretty, and apparantly owned by a Belgian American couple. You won't regret it.
