“Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013

I stayed here for one night on business, and it was a perfect hotel. It is within the city center with a few restaurants nearby. There is a security guard in the parking lot, so it seems like a safe place.

Check in was pretty simple and easy. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The lobby seemed pretty busy with people, and I asked what was going on. Because I was there on a Wednesday night, there was an outdoors BBQ and drink specials. I usually like going out and exploring the city, but the BBQ really smelled good. And it tasted really good.

The rooms were nice and big. It was a standard Courtyard room - nice and clean.

There is also a nice breakfast in the restaurant that has a mix of hot foods and continental items. You can also make eggs to order.

There is also a small gym on the first floor and a small outdoor pool with loungers.

I would definitely stay here again!

The good -
Nice clean gym
Washing machine available for free
Internet
The bad -
Breakfast
Service
Location
Multiple calls each day if you have a do not disturb sign up
AC kicks on and off frequently so you are either freezing or sweating

My favorite part of the two week stay was each day at breakfast the rude waitstaff telling me to sign the bill while I have fork in hand. Get a clue. I asked the guy if he was new or if it was his first day. It was a daily struggle to get coffee so I would get it myself, then end up in a wrestling match with the waiter because all of a sudden he realized he was supposed to do that.

Come on Marriott... pull it together!

Room Tip: Go to a different hotel!

You will like the hotel if you are in a business trip related with governmental offices, many of which are nearby. Located in a key street, it is also easy to move around.
The hotel is also close to 5 known fast food and pizza stores, a drug store and a supermarket.
Good security, personnel is well trained, courteous and helpful.
Dont expect a room with a view, except to the adyacent streets.
Walking distance to Teatro Nacional.
Not far from Historic Santo Domingo, do not miss it (taxi fare about 170/200 pesos).
Beware of cab drivers, they drive you around and overcharge, specially if you are a visitor.
No improper activities in the vicinity.

Room Tip: Ask for upper floors, less noisy.

We stayed here mainly because of the proximity to the US Consulate. We had business to do however what a lovely stay we had. The hotel is spotless and very well kept. The staff are very friendly. The area its self is also great as you have so many restaurants around you. We traveled with children and it catered well for them also.

Room Tip: we were on the 4th floor and it was great.

We stayed in this hotel one night due to flight being delayd. The service was excellent, food delicious and the rooms clean and beautiful with huge kingsize beds and wireless internet connection free of charge. Small garden with pool at the back of the hotel. Easy walk down to the Malecon for a stroll by the sea. I warmly recommend this hotel.

That was my first stay at the Courtyard and I was delighted!
Room was spacious, queen beds perfect! Everything was tidy, the service was great!
Breakfast buffet was tasty and with a very large choice of food! The croissants were to die for!
I will definately stay there again for my next trip in santo Domingo!
(Oh and the good price I had with booking.com was a bonus!)

I stayed seven days. If not for terrific front desk staff, I would rate hotel lower than average. The front desk staff are helpful, prompt, respectful, and all speak and understand english. The restaurant, housekeeping, and ground staff do not speak english. The exterior was freshly painted during my visit. The interior was not recently painted, and my room and common areas indicated signs of wear and tear. The bathroom sink developed a water leak and floor always looked dirty. The pool water had a hazy white appearance and I elected not to swim. You could hear voices from neighboring rooms and dogs constantly barking outside - only at night. The two elevators are small and wait times high during peak times. The hotel is close to a large Nacional grocery store, Pizzarelli, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and private bus company for express buses to Punta Cana.
