Good staff, friendly, accommodating, helpful - am grateful for caring service provided. The suites are definitely worth the extra money - larger, with patio, definitely a much more pleasant experience. Good restaurants, mini markets closeby. Didn't notice gay activity, but the hotel is known as gay friendly. Note most five star hotels in Santo Domingo are much more strict with visitors - they claim it's for safety of guest and hotel, though have never had a problem with Dominicans - they are amongst the friendliest people anywhere. Enjoy your stay with pleasant company and this hotel's good staff - one employee whose name started with "W" was unususually helpful - You'll want to return.

I had heard a few negative things about the hotel, but to my surprise, it was nice. The staff was very friendly and the room very clean. Rates were discussed upfront to make sure it was the same rate quoted on the phone, since i learned my lesson from hotels in other countries not to wait until check out. I would definitely stay there again.

Bottom lines:
-Gay hangout & hook-up spot in town
-discovered a gay porno "Machos Locos" in our VCR upon arrival
-"friendly" travel agent located in hotel lobby(Elvin) is a rip-off- do not trust him, he charges wayyyy to much
[learn to take a taxi which charges much less for the same- we did it with minimal Spanish]
-restaurant in hotel charges different prices for the same order (we had a lemonade & beer)each time
-no iron or ironing board available- what hotel doesn't have these?

Only thing that was good about this hotel was its location...it's in the middle of everything. But there are plenty of what seemed like better and nicer hotels in the same area.
Not a good a idea for families, elderly or disabled (stairs only), and the wise.


I wouldn't go back there...but I'd definitely return to Santo Domingo- it's a beautiful city.

Hotel Owner is Emilio Baldi

This hotel is conveniently located to the Malecon and the Zona Colonial. The hotel staff is friendly and very accommodating. I have stayed there twice and would recommend to anyone visiting Santo Domingo. You should rent a lock box at the desk when you check in and keep it locked when you are out of your room.
