My husband and I spent a week at the Boutique Hotel Palacio. We thought we might be bored and have to take a side trip to the beach but we were wrong. There is so much history to see and much of it is within walking distance from the hotel. There are many restaurants nearby and even a grocery store right across the street. The plazas in the area seem to have regular entertainment in the evening especially on the weekend.

The hotel itself had everything we needed. The breakfast was delicious with eggs, potatoes, sausages, cereals, breads, fruit, cheese and more available every day starting around 7:15. There was a menu for other complementary made to order items as well. Our room was comfortable with a huge bathroom and comfortable bed. The wireless internet worked fine for us. In the afternoon, the pool on the roof is the perfect place to cool off and relax for a while. Our room was on the third floor with the door facing the courtyard. There wasn't much noise but what there was, seemed amplified by the walls of the courtyard. I used earplugs and never heard a thing at night. There were a couple rooms with lounge chairs on balconies which I would have loved. I assume these were suites and priced higher. The courtyard was beautiful and a cozy place to have a beer or check your e-mail. The restaurant was open from 3PM to 9PM.

Service was perfect and friendly. The front desk personal spoke English and I don't know about others since I was trying to practice my Spanish there. If you need something, I think you will be able to find someone to understand you. We found that we were offered what we wanted even before we asked for it.

If you do want to get further away from the Colonial Zone, taxis are right at the corner or the clerk will call one for you. We used José at Taxi España who was extremely punctual when we scheduled a pick up. It was, I think $8 one way to the Botanical Garden (which is wonderful) and around $10 to get across the bridge to the aquarium, the tres ojos cave or the Faro a Colón.

We stayed at the Boutique Hotel Palacio for 3 days in December. The hotel is nice and clean and the location is perfect. All the historcial sites, restaurants and bars are within walking distance. Our hotel room was spacious, but the mattress was a bit uncomfortable. Other than that we didn't have any complaint. The front desk staff are professional and very friendly.

This is a good hotel in a convenient location in the colonial zone of Santo Domingo. The hotel is built in the old Spanish style with inner courtyards, balconies, and lots of tropical plants everywhere. It's old but beautifully maintained. The rooms and beds are clean, spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms modern and bright. The staff was pleasant and helpful and the breakfasts which were included were very good. We could walk everywhere easil,y and the main walking area and central plaza were very close. Banking and shopping were with a block, and they will send a taxi to the airport to meet you.

I had another great stay, but this time we did not have TV service for the majority of our stay, we stayed on Feburary 13th and 14th and then again on the 18th and 19th and out of the 4 days we had no TV service; also the Wi-Fi is not reliable at all.

The overall customer service is great as well as the breakfast.
