Hi there

Just back from ICD an I must say we had a super holiday here although It does need to be updated there wasn't anything to spoil our time there.
The food was good in the buffet and the Mexican did a fantastic steak, the Brazilian was very tasty but only if you enjoy meat. We weren't inpressed with the fish restuarant although many others seem to enjoy it.
If your after white sand and cristal blue sea then this is not the place for you. There was quite a lot of seaweed about but it didn't spoil a thing.
Best trip:- White Water Rafting, unbeleivable, the best trip ever not only on this island but of all the trips we've ever done. Weather was a let down, thunderstorms everday from 2.00pm onwards but at least it was still warm.
One last thing, if you walk to Playa Dorada on the main road, when you get to the turnoff don't be fooled by an official telling you you've taken the wrong turning. This happened to us an we thought he was being kind by taking us but he took us to the Orang market (flee market) and when we didn't buy anything demanded payment for escorting us there, this was quite frightening as we were surrounded by locals.
If your going to ICD you'll have a lovely time I'm sure

Happy Holiday

First, let me say that the brochure is not accurate. And the negative feedback that I have seen on this site about Dreams is true. If you are planning a vacation to Punta Cana, my advice is to talk to people who have gone and listen to what they say. Do not look at websites or brochures. Our family started calling this place nightmares instead of Dreams. We encountered some of the rudest staff at pool area and bars by the pool. This resort is not all inclusive. Please bring money to tip, they expect it. We stayed at Sandals before and attempted to tip some of the nicest people and they would not except. At this resort, people are not as welcoming or pleasant and they expect tips. Do not call resorts all inclusive if you allow staff to take tips like that. The room we stayed in was nice but the smell of mildew was present and our kids room the last two nights was infested with bugs. All the concierge could do was laugh at me because I was upset that this was in my kids room and on their jackets. I have video of him laughing at me. He just kept saying, "they don't bite". Not what I wanted to here. Also kids club no parents are allowed in. On the first day we took are kids to see it, they would not let us tour. Did not like that. My 9 year old wanted to do some of the activities and so did our twin boys 7. We let them go for an hour and then again for the camp out on the beach. We went to dinner and thank god I went right back for them. My one son wanted to use the phone to call me and they would not let him. I thought that was what the phones were for. My daughter said he was crying pretty bad and they still did not let him use the phone. She even was upset and scared. NEVER again did our children use the explorers club. And that is where the pirate ship is. So no other area for kids to play. The food was excellent. Never ate at buffet other then breakfast.

The pool area chairs are filled with mildew also. Oh and the medical supplies are limited. My son fell and cut his head on the marble table in the room. I called to get ice, they would not bring. told me to go to medical services. The doctor wasn't there. They found him and he wanted to give my son 2 stiches. No way. He did not even wash his hands. I am a nurse and all i needed was a steri strip or dermabond. they did not have. Not even waterproof bandaides. But they have internet service, wii, xbox, playstation, and computers. But they can not get waterproof bandaides or steristrips. So you have been warned. really check out the resort when you are traveling and exspecially with young kids. I hope this helps.

we stayed in the superclub breezers resort just outside sousoua, the hotel and staff were out of this world, could not do enough,we were all inclusive, we were asked to attend "meetings" to discuss re booking, but were not hastled when we refused. we did get extreamly hasstled when we went on the bus to sousoua for the day, but were rescued by a local man called "packo", he took us through tha market, we were then not hastled quite so much, but did feel very uncomfortable, so packo took us to a nearby hotel and ordered us a taxi. we did give him 10 dollars, but it was the best money we spent. loved the island and trips, but would not recomend going into sousoua unless you want to he intimidated and harrased

On a recent family vacation to the Colonial Majestic Resort - I was inspired by the overall quality and attitude of the resort staff. genuine friendliness and willingness to make sure that you enjoyed yourself. My family and i had a wonderful time, but thought it necessary to single out one of their employees. Francesco. What a gentleman and fantastic ambassador for this resort, he greeted us every day by name, made sure we were aware of every event, made jokes, and frankly was one of the many highlights of our week long vacation. He went out of his way to make sure that we laughed and participated in many of the activities, including water aerobics, Dart throwing, Bocci, Cocunut throwing contests, dancing, etc..He was special and deserves to be recognized. the rest of the staff were also excellent, but Francesco was above & beyond..Thanks !!

The island is a scenic beauty, the ocean is gorgeous and the people are friendly. They do not speak anything but spanish, but are very friendly. The women are beautiful, slim and friendly. The Dominican food is great, no growth enhancers, fertilizers or chemicals. Very, Very healthy. There are no traffic laws or other rules on the Samana peninsula, which means drive whatever way you please. Carefully. Food at stores, gasoline, restaurant food (tourist) is expensive. They don't cash checks but a debit card works well. Watch your card because if they get it or the number, you are done. No mail service, poor quality Dominican products, few gas stations, poor internet and phone service and frequent loss of power is common. If you love freedom, come to the D.R. and enjoy it to the fullest.
