When I was there (Jan 2013) the bottom floors were taken with an architectural exhibit that must be great for architects but said NOTHING to me. And I like architecture. But it was quite technical, with drawings more than photos.
HOWEVER, the top floor contained a permanent exhibition of the prize winners of the biennial art contest of the Dominican Republic. We're talking absolutely world class paintaings, drawings, sculptures, etc. I LOVED it.
THe museum is house in a large, very modern and bright building which has some archtiectural interest itself. Do not miss it!
