We stayed at the Evergreen at Christmas. It is a very small hotel. The new building is generally used for vacationers and it has about 6 rooms. They are very nice, particularly the ones on the ends with balcanies. The older building has nice but very small rooms.
Please note that there is no water access from the hotel. You can go next store to Castle Comfort and ask to use their dock. We were diving with Nature Island and drove there daily so weren't concerned. The pool is pleasant and has a good view of the sea and the greenery inland.
The food at this hotel was served on island time but was the best we sampled on the island. It was the only place that didn't cook the fish to a semblance of fish jerky. All the restaurants use primarily local products which we found good. The Fort Young restaurant did serve food at a rate that you would expect to see at home but again the fish was overcooked(and I like my fish well done) so we were glad we were eating most of our meals at Evergreen. As there is little to do in the evenings on Dominica, eating longer meals on the restaurant deck was actually quite pleasant.
My only complaint was that they agreed to do loads of laundry for us at one rate per load and ended up charging by the piece which was very expensive. (we had 4 adults)
I would recommend the hotel to anyone who wants the small hotel experiance.
