Lodging: very cute little yellow and blue houses, or more demure rooms in the main house, my bungalow (if thats the word for them) had a bunk bed, mosquito nets available for free, as is a fan (these will keep you bite-free), no AC, no hot water (this is unecessary and wasteful in Dominica), your own shower, toilet, and sink in 3 small separated areas in the bungalow, no TV, radio, clock, or phone (didn't you come to get away from it all?)
View: across a steep cliff and facing the Caribbean sea, great susets, I never caught a sunrise, the bungalows are literally a few feet from the edge, and the main house is farther back
Dining- open air with excellent owner/host/cook Didier
Entertainment- Didier often rents movies that you can watch in the common room, he also is a humorist, if you speak French you will have the added plus of his many dubious "jeux de mots"
Breakfast: excellent local fresh fruit juice, great tea, I didn't taste the coffee, had crepes everyday
Dinner: EXCELLENT salads with tuna steak, EXCELLENT lobster/crayfish meal, excellent spaghetti with meatballs, great prices, the meals are gems, if you decide not to stay here, come for dinner a few times!!
Drinks: great selection of rums, wines, etc...
Tours: Didier and his employees can take you anywhere in Dominica! he has a big truck that he transports the group with, the rate is divided by number of tourists, so much cheaper than most on island when you are a group
Proximity to beaches: Two within walking distance, very warm water, dark sand, mostly pebbly (I recommend water shoes), relaxing...
the North coast white beaches are definitely worth a day long visit (they're a substantial drive away), they were TOTALLY EMPTY, I saw a total of 5 locals on one beach (some kids playing), and one on another (walked through), not a single tourist, had an entire 200 meter expanse of beach and palm trees totally to myself for hours
Activities: two scuba diving places very close, i didn't go but Didier would be happy to tell you more about their avilable excursions and rates
Weather: It was very hot in May, just the way I like it. The rain is refreshing, it rained one entire day, than for less than an hour and very hard right before I left. I got more tanned than I have ever been in my life.
Getting there: about an hour drive from the airport through some of the most magnificent scenery I have ever seen, if you want to relax as much as possible in Dominica, hire a taxi to take you there, some roads have many potholes, are very thin and windy, and Dominicans drive fast... also Stonedge is is at the end of a very rocky and holy driveway from the main road, there are plenty of signs though, and you can always ask a Dominican if you think you are lost.
