“Just paradise!”

Crescent Moon Cabins

Mar 25, 2008

The cabins are just fantastic. You are leaving in a wooden lodge in the middle of the rain forest. Just paradise. We went there as a family (we and two kids 10 and 13) and they loved everything about it. The food is amazing too. And the owners very nice and helpful.

Crescent Moon is fantastic. My wife and I stayed there for part of our honeymoon and thoroughly enjoyed it. The owners are very warm and accomodating and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The food was the best we had on the trip and very healthy. There is a great view from each of the cabins of the carribbean and the owners can tell you all the best local spots for hiking/snorkeling/etc.

“Rainforest Retreat & Cuisine”

Crescent Moon Cabins

What a treasure. Crescent Moon Cabins was our 3rd stop on our Dominican honeymoon. Their website is very accurate. With only 4 cottages, you truly feel like you are the only guests. Falling asleep listening to the peepers and rain every night was a dream. We looked forward to the amazing breakfasts and to die for dinners every night. Some of the best parts of Crescent Moon is the laid back atmosphere, a few great hikes right from their property and taking part in the natural spring hot tub was delightful. I enjoyed learning about their family run operation. Ron and Jean's daughter Tiana is absolutely great, friendly and very soft spoken. Our time at CM made my husband and I really think more about how we want to spend our life and how best to balance. If you enjoy nature and food - this is the place. We will always remember our special stay here and look forward to coming back. Congratulations to Ron and Jean for following your dream.

“Hospitality + Beautiful Island + Great Food = Awesome vacation!”

Dominica itself is a breathtaking island filled with friendly people & tons of nature activities. Crescent Moon Cabins is set in the southern half of this lush, tropical island. It is located conveniently to many of the island's natural wonders which include several waterfalls, hot springs & the boiling lake to name a few.

Ron, Jean & Tiana were very gracious hosts. They were a wealth of knowledge regarding the different activities and sights on the island. They were also very helpful with any directions and they recommended some great guides for some of the more adventurous hikes.

Food was amazing! As a self-professed "foodie", this place was a dream come true! Ron's food preparation is outstanding! I'm not exaggerating when I say that all of the meals were flawless. All of the meals were made with local ingredients but with an international twist. Freshly made breads and salads complimented the meals to perfection and the desserts were an excellent end to the meal. I would have to say that some of the best meals I've ever had were at this utopia!

It was very relaxing to come back to Crescent Moon at the end of the day. Lying in the hammock and watching the sunset was the perfect ending to a day of exploration on this beautiful island.

If you're looking for a beautiful, unspoiled natural island w/ great hospitality & food, then Dominica and Crescent Moon Cabins should be your destination.

“Amazing stay - and OMG the food was great!”

Crescent Moon Cabins

Mar 4, 2008

Forget the 100 mile diet - at Crescent Moon you're on the 100 yard diet. Ron is a fanstastic chef and everything was so fresh and flavourful and picked at the peak of ripeness. There wasn't a meal that we didn't adore. We really appreciated the ecologic sensitivity that the whole enterprise adopts.

The rooms are simple but comfortable and spacious. The common area kept our kids (age 3 and 6) entertained (as did Boris and Zame the resident dogs) and allowed us to meet other guests so we never felt trapped in even when it rained.

The country was gorgeous - everything we'd hope for in terms of scenery and hiking. We will definitely go back to Dominica again. Crescent Moon is suitably located to explore the southern half of the island and the Roseau valley (one family staying when we did saw the entire island from CMC as their base).

A few tips - CMC is not a good place to stay without a car (or more accurately a 4WD truck) although they can set you up with a driver for a price. Evenings are cool so bring a sweater but even more importantly warm pyjamas.
