“A true gem. Eco friendly, tranquil, off the beaten track and so laid back!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 8, 2010

We stayed at Limestone Resort for three weeks It was (for me) the trip of a life time, my partner, being from the island , was my private tour guide.
Roel and Sylvia were lovely hosts. Set in tropical gardens and fronted by Spanish Water this laid back resort combines a friendly and informal atmostphere. The resort is a watersports paradise. There is a well maintained pool and exciting watersports ranging from Kayaking and snorkeling to scuba diving and wake boarding available in the area.
We enjoyed our cosy studio appartment which was kept beautifully clean throughout our stay.
The SUV which was included with the rental package was a blessing as Limestone is tucked away from the more populated areas of Curacao.
Limestone is near the very nice Jan Thiel resort where for just 5 Naf you can spend the day at their nice sandy beach.

Everything about this little place was perfect. Just look at the pictures and you will see why. The owners and their son made us feel as if we belonged there, yet we were peacefully protected from distractions. The hotel is in a place of organic growth, starting as a home with more and more apartments spilling down the hill to the water and rare beach.

Fantastic family resort with everything a step away from your terrace.
We enjoyed the kayaks, beautiful new pool and early morning coffee watching the sun rise over the Spanish Waters. Wonderfully fun and peaceful! Thank you Sylvia and Roel.

The location is outstanding, the rooms reasonable, the beds comfortable, the tap water drinkable, the kitchen and car provided make it so you don't have to eat out all the time, and the hotel's proprietors will do anything to make your stay a great one. And if you scuba dive, Curacao is simply a wonderful place to go.

I'm not really sure how this resort earns #1 status on TripAdvisor. This is the first time TripAdvisor let me down! We were not happy here at all. I was sorely tempted to stay somewhere else after the second day, but since it was already paid for, we opted to finish our time here. I'll list my Pros and Cons.

Pros:
-Owners are nice enough and welcoming
-Price is decent, vehicle is included in the price
Cons:
-There are no set office hours, but the owners assured us they like to help, and told us to come up anytime, etc. However, oftentimes they would not be around, and it would take four attempts to resolve one thing or ask one question.
-The COCKROACHES in the room just about threw me over the edge. My husband and I couldn't figure out why there was a bottle of insecticide on top of the armoire. Well, by the third day we figured it out! We had four cockroaches to take care of that morning.
-When renting a place with a kitchenette, there are certain things I expect be supplied by the resort: washcloths for dishes, dishsoap, etc. Not here.
-An iguana decided to poop from the rafters above, and there was a huge "pile" of iguana poop in front of the main doorway in and out of our unit. I was going to clean it up, but didn't have anything to use, so I mentioned it to the owner. He said the housekeeping staff would take care of it. Well, they never did, and we ended up coming and going the entire time through the "back" way, which was often inconvenient.
-The owners had some guests of their own visiting. Their guests had three VERY LOUD AND ABNOXIOUS children, with no supervision. They were ridiculously loud by the pool (I generally have no problem with kids..but this was bad). One had a badmitton racket and dragged it across every unit's deck railings. I couldn't believe the owners would allow this kind of disturbance for their guests.
-There are boats harbored out in the water in front of the resort. The boatowners often have dogs as their "security guards". Well, they bark all the time. So much for a peaceful afternoon on a lounger by the water.
-Usually when we rent a studio/apt on an island, the owners understand that we are vacationers and do not travel with beach towels, coolers, beach chairs, etc., and generally they are provided. Not here.

Fortunately, my husband and I tend to travel around the island and check things out, so we weren't around the resort all that often. I'd highly recommend staying somewhere else. We were very disappointed.

We stayed 8 days at limestone and had a very very enjoyable time. The apartments were complete the view maginifcent and the host very friendly. Our kids enjoyed the pool and the beach and with the car (that comes with the apartment rental) we cruised the Island.
Don't even think about going to large mass tourism resorts.......this place is what you need to really chill and charge up you battery.

Limestone ..........bedankt Aio tot de volgende keer.

On an island where lush vegetaion doesn't naturally exist, Sylvia has created a beautiful resort setting with flowers and palm trees all over the property. Our 6 day stay in Limestone was extremely relaxing and enjoyable. Roel and Sylvia are the most personable hosts we've ever met. The apartments are clean and very spacious. We had a view of the marina which we loved. All the shade from the palm trees helped to keep the very hot days comfortable. We enjoyed snorkelling and feeding the fish right off their beach. Kayaking the Spanish waters was a great way to explore and see all the various sailboats.
Limestone is well situated. It's a short drive (10 minutes each way) for great snorkelling at the Tugboat; swimming, eating and people watching at Mambo Beach and an easy 20 minute commute to Willemstad for all the sightseeing
shopping, and eating you may want to do. A large grocery store with take out foods is a 5 minute drive. Having a car included with no worries about extra costs (mileage, insurance) is a huge bonus.
We would gladly come back and definitely recomment Limestone to singles, couples and families. You will feel most welcome there. Special thanks to Sylvia and Roel for going above and beyond our expectations.
