“Great place, nice view and family friendly!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

I would definetly recommend this hotel. We went with all the family (husband, son, parents in law, brother in law and wife). We all enjoyed a lot! If we come back to Curacao we would choose the same place. Owners are really nice. They helped with all our requests and the car included is a geat plus.

When we were there it was very quit place, very relaxing. Somewhat off the main tourist path. We had some electric problems and with the TV. AC in bedrooms keep you cool at night. Nice trip, we would come back. nice to sit on the patio and look out into the bay.
Little hard to find but since it close to the Boathouse Restaurant which had a lot of signs we didn’t have much problems. the staff there was very helpful.

Owners were very nice, and the price is right. But it sits on mangrove backwater with lots sand flies and not enough breeze. The "beach" is backfilled gravel with lots of yachts moored just off shore (if you have ever spent any time on boat, you will know what that means ... Liveaboards have to pump their head somewhere). No place for a beach vacation. No restaurants or bar anywhere around (except the very nice but pricey Boathouse Restaurant). You will do a lot of driving. It is basically a vacation apartment.

I stayed here for a week earlier in 2011. The car included is great, and the owners are wonderful. The rooms and the general areas like the pool are in need of some TLC. The beds are very old, the kitchens are not well stocked.

Right on the Spanish Water, this was a lovely relaxing place to stay. Comfortable apartment with a car supplied to get around. Drivers here are 'forgiving' of visitors not familiar with the roads or driving on the right hand side (!) and happy to help with directions. Roel and Silvia were great hosts doing all they could to make our stay enjoyable. One day we hired the kayaks supplied to paddle around which was great fun, we are not experts but they were stable and easy to use. Close by (short walk) was the Boathouse restaurant which is highly recommended. Free internet. A great stay.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011

We staid here in August 2011 with our 2 kids of 4 and 6 years old. Both the kids as well as the parents had a great time. The resort is located at the Spanish water. We love appartments and do no want to spend our holidays in mass resorts with small hotel rooms. The appartment we had was spacious, clean, airconditioned and had wifi and a large bathroom with walk in shower. The porche outside had a great view on the bay and the resorts itself is also spacious and offers a lot of things to do like sports ,games etc. The surrounding of the resort is very ok. The brakkeput ariba peninsula only has villas around and the best restaurant of the island (the boathouse) is on 5 minute walking distance.
The owners, Roel and Sylvia are very nice and intelligent people, always ready to answer any questions (our kids still miss their friend Leonardo the son of Roel and Sylvia)

I can only mention one disadvantage of Limestone and that is that the appartements are sensitive for noise of the neighbours because of the possibilty of a door between the appartements. Limestone also rents the appartments out to weekend quests that can be more noisy than average guests.

The Limestone Holiday Resort grows on you the longer you stay. By the end of our week we were feeling right at home. It’s not close to Marriott or Royal Resort quality, but it is homey and quite clean, both inside and out. The every-other-day maid service is nice.

Having a car included is a big plus. This let us visit delightful restaurants such as the Boathouse and L’aldea. (The boathouse is walkable, but it’s a hot walk. Be sure to go on Wednesday night for their Indonesian buffet. It’s delicious and reasonably priced.) When you consider what you would pay for car hire, the per-night rate at Limestone Holiday becomes quite reasonable.

TV (many channels) was good once we got the controls mastered.

Air conditioning worked well. My complaint here is that were charged an extra $10/day at checkout for staying in a unit with 2 air conditioners. This charge is not listed on the Limestone Holiday web pages…either now or at the time we made our reservation.

The pool is saltwater…warm, comfortable, and clean, but on the small side.

Snorkeling off the beach was decent, although nowhere near what we found in Westpunt. The water was a bit murky during our stay…due to recent rains we were told. I saw my biggest puffer yet. Also a bar jack and several barracudas, the latter mostly young ones, but one was well over 2 feet long. Be sure to include the outside of the rock jetty to the right of the property in your snorkel trail. There are many grunts and other fish there. One larger gray fish even adopted me, following me almost everywhere. Water temperature was the warmest I have ever encountered. The beach “sand” is coral and quite coarse and hard on bare feet. So bring water shoes if you have them. You don’t need flippers for snorkeling here.

There were a few negatives in addition to the $10 per day unexpected charge for A/C:

There was no toaster, no microwave, and no dishwasher. Nor were we permitted to flush toilette tissues or other disposables down the toilette. These must be placed in a flip-top wastebasket, which the maid empties every other day.

Internet is spotty, but not the fault of Limestone Holiday (it’s a Curacao thing). Speed is good, but there are frequent interruptions do to poor service by the supplier. Limestone Holiday’s router is located in a cabinet out on the deck, so reception is best if you sit outside. There is a table and an electrical outlet under the canopy next to the router. That is where I got best reception.

If you shave, you will find the hot water is not up to your usual standard. Hot water was fine in the shower, though.

Biting insects are a bit of a problem in early mornings and toward dusk. They seem to go away when the wind or sun picks up. Bug repellent is a must.
