“Super nice boutique hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 days ago NEW

Super nice boutique hotel, with friendly helpful staff.
We stayed at a small clean room and the only thing in the room that took the experience down was the glass door to the bathroom.
Dinners at the restaurant was really good but we were a bit disappointed at the breakfast. Great location, easy to walk everywhere.
After all, I would really recommend BijBlauw!

Staying at this boutique hotel was a great way to start our vacation. We were able to enjoy our breakfast at their restaurant or take a nice morning walk to the harbor. We loved being this close to town. We had a beautiful second floor room that had its own patio facing the ocean. All of the staff were kind and helpful. If you are coming to Curacao, don't miss this hotel.

My husband and I stayed 2 nights in the oceanfront room- it was a beautifully decorated with a large terrace overlooking the ocean.
The service and staff were exceptional. When we arrived we were warmly welcomed and given drinks on the terrace restaurant. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast there.
My husband had a medical crisis that necessitated a trip to the emergency room and then to a doctor's office. The staff (in this case Britt) offered to drive ahead of me to lead me to the doctor's. The drive was 15 or 20 minutes from the hotel and I would have gotten lost without Britt's help.
The people at the front desk- Britt, Edwin and a young woman from the Netherlands- were all exceptionally helpful and kind. After we left I received an email asking how my husband was doing. I can't say enough positive things about my experience at this hotel.

Staying at BijBlauw was the best decision we made for our wonderful holiday in Curacao. The location was perfect allowing us to walk to the city centre of Willemstad, and park our rental car for free so we could use it to tour the entire island. The staff was so friendly and helpful, not only answering our questions, but also booking trips for us and giving us advice on any part of the island we wished to explore. They went above and beyond and this was greatly appreciated. We choose a room with a king sized bed and it was modern and very clean. Loved the expresso machine as well. We highly recommend Bij Blauw, a small boutique hotel, and a trip to Curacao where you can enjoy the beaches and a variety of cultural experiences so unique to this island. Be assured that the staff will help make your time in Curacao, a great holiday to remember! Thanks to the staff. We loved our stay.

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony if you want one. We choose one without and loved it.

We were at BijBlauw at the end of April for 4 nights, staying in beautiful second floor room with its own private patio facing the ocean. The patio was furnished with a table, stools and a sitting area - complete with candles and cushions - and the views of the ocean were stunning. The room had hardwood floors, AC and 2 fans, was clean, spacious, and very tastefully decorated (rustic, shabby chic), as was the entire hotel. The bathroom was sufficient in size and clean, featuring a rain shower and –very appreciated- enough shelf and storage space. My only suggestion for improvement would be to have a hairdryer available in every room instead of having to ask for it every time. The staff was exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and gave us great advice which beaches to visit during our stay. The location of the hotel is perfect, just a short (10 min leisurely) walk from downtown with lots of nice bars and restaurants in walking distance, and still very quiet at night (if you don’t count the sound of the surf which to us was a very welcome backdrop). We had breakfast at the hotel only once; the big breakfast ($16) was a good value, European style including a variety of breads, cheese and ham, fruit salad, egg, jam, orange juice and coffee/tea. We could not have wished for a better hotel and, should we return to Curacao, would definitely want to stay there again.

We stayed at the BijBlauw from April 25 - May 1. It was our first family trip where we didn't stay in an all-inclusive. Wow! What a great experience! The BijBlauw is located a very short walk away from downtown Willemstaad. It's situated in two colourful buildings (green and yellow). We stayed in the 2 bedroom apartment (yellow building), on the second floor. Underneath the apartment is their clothing store. (I picked up some fabulous pieces from their store which were from Holland).

The apartment was very nice. Very modern and had a kitchen (with dishwasher). There's 2.5 bathrooms. The apartment was very clean. We had wi-fi in the apartment which we used on a daily basis. Beds were very comfortable, and both bedrooms were air-conditioned using ductless air-conditioners. We had street parking, which is free, and we never had a problem finding a spot. The restaurant on-site, has a great view of the sea, and we ate dinner there on the first night, which was very good. Prices were reasonable, and comparable to going to a regular sit down restaurant in North America.

The first bedroom is smaller than the master bedroom, but the shower is much larger. The master bedroom had cathedral ceilings and had both a fan and air-conditioning. The living room/kitchen area is not air-conditioned, but has a big fan, too. The hotel has a small pool, not a typical pool, but the kids enjoyed it and we spent most of our days at the public or private beaches.

We loved our stay in Curacao. We went to the market and bought food for breakfast and snacks. We ate out for dinner, as the island has many great little restaurants to experience. I recommend renting a car. The island is very safe, and many of the beautiful, unspoiled beaches are located about a 30 minute drive away. Only thing I recommend is water shoes, as the unspoiled beaches have coral when you're entering the water, that can be very harsh on your feet. I'd say 99% of the people on the island speak English, so communicating was never a problem. Be sure to go to the Plaza Bleu market, where you can get an outstanding local meal. We had fresh snapper that was so incredibly tasty from the Zus di Plaza stand. Eating there is a must!

What I loved most about this hotel (besides the great apartment), is it's owned by a very friendly couple from Holland (Ruud and Titcia), and their daughter works there also. They are so very hospitable. They really knew how to treat their guests.

After staying at the BijBlauw, I don't think we will be doing all-inclusive vacations anymore. We will definitely go back to the BijBlauw when visiting Curacao!

Just had a romantic weekend at Bijblauw. Beautiful spacious room, sea view and a delicious dinner (possible on your own balcony) Into the heart of Pietermaai with a lot of restaurants and pubs on walking distance. Loved the hospitality! Will for sure be back!
