“Great food and lovely atmosphere!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2013

Visited Gingers last night and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant is all open air with lovely decor.

To start I ordered the Coconut Prawns which were lovely. For main I had the Coconut Lemongrass soup with shrimp and chicken which was absolutely delicious! It was on the starters menu but the portion was quite large.

Service was a little slow, but the restaurant was busy. The waitresses were lovely and answered all questions we had!

“tasteless food”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2013

We had dinner at Ginger some weeks ago. Seats are flat hard wood, very uncomfortable. The food did not take long to be served; it was fresh but tasteless, nothing special and even boring. When the waitress asked how it was I told her what I thought. She did not know how to handle a complaint. Probably inexperience. She told me that she works there parttime. They never even asked if we wanted a drink. Then i was asked to fill out a form and to indicate what was wrong about the food. What do I know, I am not a cook. It just did not taste good. We did not enjoy it and it was an unpleasant experience being there.
We will not go there again.

Wilfred99, Manager at Ginger - Carib Asian Cuisine-, responded to this review, December 14, 2013
Dear Neil,

We are sorry to hear you had a bad experience at our restaurant. We are located in the historic downtown of Curacao: 'Pietermaai' and we located Ginger in such a way that guests are surrounded by monuments while dining. Above the restaurant is an apartment, like in most inner cities. This is the setting and the majority of the guests especially visit us for this reason.
Ginger is a no-nonsense outdoor restaurant, where guests don't have to 'wait to be seated', but might choose the table they want. Serving free glasses of water is no issue, but the automatic refills is not our policy.
The meat we serve is 'lomito', Argentinean beef tenderloin, and is one of our best sold items. Meat stays meat and it might you were unlucky and had a tough part. We are sorry for that. If guests show this to us, we will bring as soon as possible a new portion. Considering your other complaints about the 2 appetizers, we only can say that everyone has a different taste, looking at the other reviews.
I also visit other restaurants, one is better than the other, one meets better to my expectations than the other, but if it not what I expected, or the attention is not that great because it's busy that night, I will not give tips, tell the manager that the restaurant was not what I expected and try to explain what I did expect . Writing it completely down, doesn't help anyone.

“Stylish, trendy, luxurious — you name it!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

Very beautiful spot with relaxed atmosphere, nice interior and decent cuisine, which is closer to being gourmet than traditional hearty food.
Great seafood, good choice of wine and interesting desserts.
