Had an awesome stay at this hostel, which I believe is the only one on the island. It's a cute 5-bedroom house, which is a great way to meet people. The other folks staying there were all very friendly.
Poppy Kamers is in Otrabanda, a neighborhood where many of the locals live -- decidedly not touristy. The pier and historic Punda are an easy 10-15 min walk.
Art was very helpful. He's not always on-site, but is easily reachable by phone or email (wifi available). The place has a common room with TV, kitchen and two decent-sized bathrooms. The kitchen has enough tools that you can totally make dinner if you choose (there's a grocery store nearby).
If you're looking to save some money on your vacation and don't require a fancy all-inclusive packaged deal, this is definitely your place. I wouldn't stay anywhere else.
