“Cheap and Sufficient”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

The people working there were outstanding. Very friendly, very helpful. The location is situated in a somewhat shady area but close to everything. The rooms were fine except the doors are paper thin. The room next to us had the alarm set but nobody was in it to turn it off when it went off at 7:00am. Really bothered us. The entrance is a little hard to find but pretty secure. Great value though ideal for people who aren't planning on spending much time in their room.

I stayed here twice in a period of 10 days. At first there were a few minor admin issues, but that was partly my fault as I had to change my plans slightly about 2 weeks before arrival, but this was quickly sorted out.

Staff are friendly, helpful and have a good sense of humour. The rooms are big, bright, clean and come with air-con as well as a fan on the ceiling.

A breakfast service is available on the bottom floor. The menu is basic, but still very nice

The room is very basic.
Even though online booking site says "Room opens up to a balcony, has memory foam mattress and hair dryer" they only have Two rooms with balcony and bathroom does NOT have a dryer. I don't know where "memory foam mattress" idea even came from - don't ask.
When I asked at the front desk the lady said "No, we don't have any dryer."

The room I originally checked in (#56 Green floor) had a window with a view of trashy back alley, NO water pressure, hardly any hot water - just luke warm... Next morning I spoke to a gentleman at the front desk and he was able to move me to another room (#65 upstairs) with a balcony; he said the dryer had been stolen and they bought one so that the guest could use it. I was absolutely pleased to get a brand-new hair dryer still in the original box.

This room was nicer, with a balcony so you can hang/dry wet suits & dive gears (you need a key to open the window), i-pod docking station, lots of storage shelves, some hangers and a safe. Tiles in this room was nicer as well, still NO water pressure/hot water though.

Housekeeping is only every Three days, but you can exchange your towels if you like. The room was clean but I did see a few big roaches by the front desk. There is an elevator and very narrow staircase if you want to exit to the street side. Property is gated and they have security guard by the building. Hotel itself is in a kind of shady neighborhood and from the parking lot side it looks pretty scary - when the taxi driver was dropping me off I almost wanted to turn around and go somewhere else..

The staff there were friendly and helpful. You can't beat the room rate. Would be a good pick if you just need an inexpensive place to sleep. Not recommended for female traveler.

The greatest bonus is their airport transfer for only $10(USD)!!

Room Tip: Request the rooms upstairs with balcony

Good value for the price, but nothing too exciting about it. It is clean. Great location! In the center of Otrobanda. They do not have regular cleaning room service all the time. They give blue towels that are ripped. The room is small feels like an European hostel.

Stayed there for 3 weeks. The was super helpful the manager was also great and very accommodating. Great location close to every thing. Local bus close by very inexpensive way to see the island. Rooms were very clean. Staff attended to any needs we had. The maintenance person was very accommodating also. Great place to stay for long or short time. Highly recommend when Curacao will stay there again.

Just stayed here one night. It is different, clearly an individual hotel rather than some chain. So if you do not want to spend tons of money and can handle a laid back atmosphere, I can recommend this place.

Pros:
* very attentive staff
* nice big and very clean rooms
* good bathroom
* good a/c
* conveniently located on walking distance from centre
Cons:
* surroundings looks a bit dodgy at first glance (remnants from Pelikaan days)
* no breakfast on sunday (but that was charmingly solved!)

There appeared to be no breakfast on Sunday but I booked for the night of Saturday with a prepaid breakfast for Sunday morning! Luckily, the very friendly staff solved this by opening the small café especially for us. Now that is the personal service that makes people come back!
