“Wonderful, Relaxing Honeymoon Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2009

My husband and I spent the first week of our honeymoon here. The hotel property is beautiful, and the beach is very big and secluded. We did not spend time by the pool, becuase that is where most people were. The water is gorgeous and you do not have to reserve or pay for beach chairs or palapas. We were able to stroll onto the beach at 1pm and find beach chairs. The rooms are not new, but they are big, clean, and well decorated. We had a beachfront room, and it truly is beachfront. The lobby and main area of the hotel is beautiful. The breeze blows through from the ocean keeping everything cool.
This is not a party spot, it is more designed for quiet evenings relaxing with a drink under the stars after dinner. We ate at the hotel for 8 nights, and I have to say the food was good. They did have a variety which kept us interested. I would recommend getting the all inclusive package if possible, because drinks and food are hotel prices. My favorite restaurant is the outdoor one, where you dine oceanfront.
Overall, we had a wonderful and relaxing stay at the Marriott. I must also mention the dive shop located on the beach. There is great shore diving there and you don't even have to leave the hotel.

Everything from arrival to departure was Perfect. There was not one thing that went wrong. The service was excellent, the food was very very good- with many choices. We did go on a few excursions, that were also very good. But I could have very easily stayed at the resort for the entire stay. The beach was clean, the water was clear blue-green- very good snorkeling right on the resort beach..
All of the Staff at the marriott were very helpful, very nice, and always close by- if we needed anything.... GREAT DRINKS AT THE POOL BAR-- fun group of bartenders & servers.
We will return to Marriott Curacao ..

As a regular traveler to Curacao, you could say I've visited most of hotels there. From the cheapest to the scary priced ones. I'm a true Curacao lover. It's a shame that this Caribbean paradise is relatively undiscovered by tourists. My last visit, however was literally "out of this world." It all started at the lobby of the Marriott Resort...the entrance just whispers "world-class" and the view from there overlooking the giant pool, those big swaying palm trees, is amazing! Marriot in a summary: a beautiful experience.
They have affordable room service, I can tell cause i'm a dutch student.
The staff is amazing, those people are not even trying to be friendly. It simply is their second nature. My guess? Caribbean weather does that to you!=)

We just returned from our honeymoon in Curacao and we had such a great time. The hotel is perfect for scuba divers who want a resort type atmosphere. The rooms are a little out dated but are very clean. We were upgraded to an ocean front room and the view made up for it.

We used Marriott points to book the vacation and also did the all inclusive option. I highly recommend doing the all inclusive. The food is better then most all inclusives and the drinks are yummy. We met a bunch of fun people on our vacation and everyone on the inclusive option was very happy with it. The food and drinks are expensive if you are not on it. We thought the service was very good.. Keep in mind you are on island time but you should expect that in the Caribbean. It's vacation...why rush anyway.

For scuba divers.... Tom runs a great dive shop right at the hotel. He could not have been friendlier or more helpful. Talk to Tom about going to dive with JJ one day from Cas Abao Beach...you won't regret it. We really enjoyed meeting everyone that worked for the dive operation.

This hotel is in a superb location, about a 5 min drive to "downtown" and 10 minutes from the airport. What I liked the most about this hotel is the lcoation right on the water, beautiful grounds, super relaxing and it's a decent beach. The hotel is a little old but the rooms are spacious.
Curacao has lots to do but it is not really tourist-oriented. Make sure you visit Willemstad, one plantation, Kura-Hulanda, and the beaches of Porto Mari and Cas-Abau.

My husband and I spent a week at the resort with a group of friends we travel with annually. At first blush the resort is beautiful; the entrance and vista very lovely. The rooms were dated and need a fresh touch; the staff ws wonderful; but they are clearly overworked. One dinner, there was only one wait staff(she was fantastic)but she did everything; drinks, serving and clearing... way too much for one person. The beach did not have adequate chairs or huts for shade cover; and one day they ran out of towels(this was midweek). The "gym" was gritty the women's spa was in my opinion so aged that it felt dirty and unwelcoming. We most likely will not return

We just returned from our honeymoon in Curacao and Aruba. We stayed at the Curacao Marriot for 5 days. When we arrived we were able to upgrade our garden view to a beach view at no extra cost. We were literally right on the beach. It was amazing to go out on the balcony every morning and take in that view. (There were always people in the water, so not a TON of privacy, but they didn't really bother us). As other posters have noticed, the rooms are a little musty. The drawers definitely smelled a little funky and the bathroom was nothing special. You would expect the room to be a little nicer due to the price. We realized, though, we were paying for the view. The beach at the Mariott is amazing. You walk into the water and the reef is right there for snorkeling. Although there were alot of families at the Mariott, the pool area was not too crazy or too loud. We laid by the pool every afternoon for a couple of hours and it was extremely relaxing. The hotel is definitely European in nature--we ran into 2 American couples our entire stay.

We loved that we could swim up to the bar. We did not do the all-inclusive menu, because we wanted the chance to eat in other areas, but we did eat several meals at the hotel.

The Seabreeze bar and restaurant: pretty good if not a bit pricey. I had the surf and turf one night and the beef was perfectly cooked. I probably could have done with out the lobster--it was a little overcooked. The food at the bar was really good for snacking on.

Portofino, the Italian restaurant: This place had a pretty standard breakfast buffet and was generally good--the coffee was really good (compared to the coffee in Aruba it was amazing!). Our last night at the Mariott we had dinner at Portofino. We weren't overly impressed. First, they did not have one of the entrees that was listed on the menu, but were willing to substitute the other steak meal for what was listed without charging extra. Second, my meal was horrible. I had the lobster canneloni and it was inedible. I ended up snacking on the antipasto and eating half my husband's steak. I don't really understand why it was so bad, but for how expensive the meal was, I expected it to be better.

Our one critique of the hotel is that whenever we asked for directions or recommendations, no one could give us an answer. As a larger resort, we expected them to give us more guidance, but they really couldn't, which was unfortunate.

Overall, we had a really good experience at the Mariott and would definitely recommend staying there-particularly due to its beach.
