The hotel was excellent, the pool bar is fun. The staff is friendly. The food service is fine. The rooms are excellent, with cable TV (main american channels). The casino is little, but fine. The pool is excellent, but a little bit crowded by noon. There are greater beaches in Curaçao than the hotel beach. However the location of the hotel is excellent. If you like to know other beaches, must rent a car.

Definetively would stay there again!!

Hotel - Nice quiet resort. Rooms spacious(could use an updating). Bed very comfortable. Pool area was nice with many availalble chairs any time of the day. I thought we would get a crappy room due to arriving late( flight from newark,nj delayed for over 10 hours). When we arrived we were upgraded to an ocean from room. What a nice view every morning waking up and looking at the oceam

Restaurants. We ate breakfast everday at Portofino(included in our package). The had a wide variety of fruits, meats, cereals, and eggs. The omelet lady would make anything you want.(even just scambled eggs). We also ate at the Seabreeze Bar one night. Food was very good but make sure you have bug spray. Bug spray was required at any outdoor restaurant we ate. We visited restaurants outside of the resort(hooks hut,Bistro Le chocard, Goveurnors, Jaipur, and Tempo Doejoe). We had very good meals at all these places

Nighlife and casino. This was the weak spot of this hotel. There was no nightlife. Only 1 night had a singer at the Emerald lounge. The casino was terrible. It was never crowded with only a couple of table games open during the entire week. For someone who likes to play craps we had to go into town to the new Ren hotel. They had a very large casino

If the hotel had a better nightlife and casino i would give it five stars. The people at this resort were the nicest people. From the bartenders, maids, bellhops, wait staff, and security, If you said hi, good morning, how are you. they would stop an have a conversation with you like they knew you for along time.

We used Marriott points for a 5-day All-Inclusive vacation at this Marriott. Since we did not have enough points for two rooms (& All-Inclusive), the four of us (all adults) stayed in one room, with a twin sized roll-away bed added. We also had a mini-refrigerator in the room. Though a bit crowded, it was not uncomfortable.
The food was of good quality, when available, and many menu items were not available .We were definitely glad we were on ALL-Inclusive, otherwise at least one of us would have to stay and wash dishes till the food bill is paid up! One breakfast bill for 4 was $95! Dinner bill regularly ran to $300 or more, without liquor! Lunch was not much cheaper! The charges seemed to be randomly added: sometimes we were charged extra for cappuccino at buffet breakfast, and other times not. We did not care since we were "All Inclusive". Service was good but "island slow".
The lobby and the pool are nice, but there isn't much of a private beach; sandy or rocky. So don't plan a long walk on the beach! Mosquito is a problem too! Water shoes are available for free, but not in too many sizes. Free snorkel masks and fins are also limited. Better to bring your own. Nearby snorkeling is good. The casino is very small and old; not much action either. Absolutely no night life: no band, no music, nobody walking around; pool closes at 9:00 PM.
Took the free shuttle to town. Frankly it was a disappointment. There were the high-end stores like Polo and the low end thrift-type stores, but not much else in between. But then we are from New York City! The so called Floating Market had little to offer. If you had walked through the local markets, you would not want to eat in any local restaurants. But then we didn't get to see the Marriott kitchen!
We had a great family vacation, but probably would never go back again. Only because we believe there are other equally beautiful resorts waiting for us.

We just returned from holding our wedding at the Marriott in Curacao. It was a beautiful beach wedding, and I couldn't be more happy about the entire overall experience. This review is geared more toward anyone looking to host an event in Curacao rather than an overall hotel review, so keep reading if this is you!

Anjali is the event coordinator at the Marriott, and I cannot say enough wonderful things about all the work she did for us. From the time we first contacted her with initial questions in making our decision on where to stay in Curacao, until now, after we have returned home from the trip, she is extremely responsive and helpful. She helped us piece together the wedding to our exact tastes and budget, and made recommendations on issues we were not sure about, and she never pressured us into spending money on items we didn't think we would want. And on a pretty tight budget, we ended up with an AMAZING wedding.

The setting for the wedding takes place on the beach with guests looking out over the Bride and Groom with the ocean as the backdrop. Our dinner tables were set up next to the wedding site and the food (World Buffet) was delicious! All of our guests enjoyed the experience. Anjali advised us on all the aspects of the wedding ceremony, cocktail hour and dinner. Her experience and professionalism made the entire event wildly successful and a trip to remember. I hear that wedding planning can be a pretty stressful process, but I did not have to experience that one bit. Anjali and the Marriott staff went out of their way to make sure that the trip and the day were about us and what we wanted. And boy, did they deliver!

We ended up with about 30 guests joining us, and we have heard many positive comments from them about the beautiful settings and the trip as a whole. Everyone was very impressed with the snorkeling right off the beach (snorkeling equipment rental runs $10.60 for 4 hrs), and went back out multiple times. The kids equally loved the pool, which is gorgeous overlooking the ocean. A big hit with the group was heading to the Seaquarium for various events such as swimming with the dolphins, and we also had a really great sunset cruise from the dive shop on the Marriott property, set up from Jeffrey Berend of Curacao Actief. One of the dinners we all particularly enjoyed (in addition to the yummy wedding buffet!) was at Hook's Hut which is nearby the property, although take the road to get there and don't try to walk to it from the beach as it doesn't go through. But it's a great atmosphere there.

Overall I guess I would just say that I really recommend the Marriott for an event you might be planning, due to both its beautiful setting and scenery, and for the wonderful service provided by Anjali and staff - they will get you what you want, and in my case they hit a home run for our wedding!

A group of about 25 of us stayed here for my cousin’s wedding. We had the BEST time! But it was not because of anything the hotel or staff did. We’re just a really fun group of people - you could put us on Antarctica and we’d still have fun!

I’ll start off by telling you the best thing about the Marriott here: the grounds and the property. They’re not the best but the fake beach and the snorkeling adjacent to the beach is really good: lots of fish. You can also scuba dive right off of the beach too.

OK, now let me tell you that you should avoid this property at all costs. It’s expensive and you don’t get anything for free unless you do an all-inclusive. They nickel and dime you for EVERYTHING! They even charged me $26 for a dive computer battery (what choice did I have?). There is no free internet on the property – not even in the lobby (internet is $16, a day…A DAY!).

If you really want to try out Curacao, the Lion’s Dive and Beach Resort is a much better choice.

Other shortcomings of the Marriott:

-The slowest, worst service I’ve ever experienced at any hotel anywhere in the world. It was simply as if the staff did not care – a total lack of “hussle.” We went to Voila, their little snack and sandwich shop, every morning for a cop of coffee and breakfast sandwich and not once did they ever have them ready to eat. Their excuse was always that, “They were making them downstairs and would bring them up.” Everyone got together for our last meal at Portofino, their main restaurant, and it took almost 3 hours to eat. They could not even handle keeping bread and butter on the table and took 20 minutes for them to uncork a bottle of wine we brought (with cork fee, of course!). Drinks took a long time to make at each bar and if you ordered a burger and fries at the outside bar, you really needed to order it the night before.

-There is a $20 “resort fee” that everyone has to pay even though we were not notified of it when we made the reservation. So, it’s basically just a way they can lie about a lower room rate and then tack on another $20 you don’t know about at check out.

-The pool ran out of clean towels while we were there 3 times, not once but 3 times!

-A few days before we arrived, we noticed that Marriott was offering a package that was not offered to us when we made the reservation: travel dates of May 1 - July 1, 2009 and August 15 - December 15, 2009 and receive up to $200 per person air credit, $200 dining credit per guest room and the fifth night free when booking five consecutive nights. We figured no big deal, we’ll just ask for that rate code (P50) and package after we check in. Of course, Jaime (a front desk manager) would not give it to us saying that is was not available when we booked originally. I told him that cancelling and re-booking would have gotten us that package and he really did not know what to say. All they have to do is flip the rate code in the computer - they just did not want to.

-The Jacuzzi did not work the entire time we were there.

-The hotel screwed up the reservation for our group’s sunset cruise. We get everyone there, no boat. To their credit, they did make this one right by getting the boat there and loading it with beer, wine and snacks.

- Housekeeping missed a day and we had to call them 4 times to get some fresh towels. Another group found a pair of pajamas under their bed pillow after they checked in and discovered that another party had checked in to the room earlier in the day, decided they didn’t like it and changed rooms. All ok, except for the fact the front desk lied about it and said there had not been anyone in that room all day. They only fessed up because the earlier guest asked for the pjs.

-After the wedding reception, my girlfriend left her camera on one of the tables and when she went back to get it 20 minutes later the staff denied seeing it. She told them that they could keep her camera – she just wanted the memory card with the wedding pictures on it. Of course, the dishonest staff did not turn in either the camera or the card.

- Taxis were at least $20 to any site worth seeing on the island and $25 to the airport.

-It is just a bad location. There is simply nothing to see within walking distance if you dare to leave the resort.

This hotel costs what hotels cost in Hawaii. BUT Hawaii is worth it. This place isn’t.
