“One of the few hotels choice on the island”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 31, 2013

Unfortunately there are no many options in Curacao.
During the last years Curacao has dramatically lost quality on tourist services structures.
Marriott is an aceptable option , but not really a four stars hotel.
Rooms are very poorly decorated , and some of them too far from lobby and services.
Pool bar despaching BBQ smoke and food smell all around the area at any time.
Personally I'm using this hotel during my stop over, I wouldn't spend a vacation there !

Room Tip: Ask for room close to the lobby otherwise you will have to walk a lot !

Dear Loverde,

We are sorry to learn that we were unable to meet your expectations and your points have been duly noted and shared as appropriate. I can only hope that this disappointment did not deter from your overall enjoyment of your time at the Curaçao Marriott and we can only hope that we will have the chance to welcome you back at some time in the future.

Kind regards,

Ok, just arrived sans luggage thanks to AA in Miami. Why does the travel industry no longer have empathy for wearied travelers??? Upon asking for an amenity package here at Curacao Marriott we were told by concierge "our gift shop is still open and they'll have what you need." What no free toothpaste or toothbrush anymore? Then the concierge guy stupidly asked "Do you need help with your luggage?" Oh, brother, I hope our vacation doesn't go further downhill from here...

We were here for a convention for a week. What a marvelous week! The staff is VERY nice and always happy to help. After 2 days they know you and greet you with your name. the view from the lobby is gorgeous! The pool and beach with palmtrees!!! I didn't want to leave... but what really made the hotel is especially the staff! thanks.

We stayed at this hotel for a medical meeting in late January. It is a lovely, mellow island. We have stayed on many Caribbean islands from the Caymans, to Puerto Rico to St. Martin, Barbados. I like the European/Dutch style of Curacao. It is very diverse and you hear many different languages at the pool - mostly Dutch. The hotel was a solid 3.5/5. The rooms were adequate and had everything necessary, but could probably use a renovation. The pool area seemed very new and well maintained. All of the staff were sweet and happy to help. The location was gorgeous, as well as the weather. Curaco is apparently out of the hurricane belt and a lovely 84 degrees just about every day. Mosquitos were a bit of an issue at this time of year. We could not leave a door open and needed bug spray when dining outdoors at night. The beach, bars and restaurants were very good. It was also not crowded and we never had trouble finding beach chairs or a place at the pool. Some of the staff went out of their way to recall your names each day and others just did their job. Overall, this is not the Ritz level of service or hotel, but if you are interested in gorgeous weather in a gorgeous setting in a laid-back Dutch style, go for it. I was also happy to see that it was not full of demanding New Yorkers, like some resorts are at this time of year. We enjoyed the Euorpean flavor.

Room Tip: We got ocean front, which had a gorgeous view, but also was twice the price.

Due to the layout/landscape, the property feels very private - despite the fact that there is a hotel adjacent to it. The private beach is clean but not expansive, and there is a considerable amount of coral/rocks in the water. I recommend wearing water shoes for those who choose to enter the ocean.

The common areas were well-kept, but overall the property feels a bit tired. The guest accommodations, in particular, need to be updated. Meals are quite expensive throughout the property, but the food was good.

The pool bar staff was very friendly, and the view from the pool and the bar onto the beach and ocean beyond were beautiful.

Enjoyed ourselves immensely. Arrived on a Monday - for high season it was pretty sparse. In Aruba we had to get up at 6:00 am to reserve a covered beach spot - here you could walk out until 11:00 or noon and one would still be available - at least until Friday when the weekend crown arrives and things are a bit more crowded - but still pretty quiet and calm. Weather good - it goes sunny then cloudy then back - little actual rain the five days we were here.

The rooms were clean and comfortable - nothing special - but definitely worth getting beach side. We had a room with a balcony with the ocean right outside. We had a beautiful in-room dinner one night on the balcony watching the sunset.

At dusk you might a few beach gnats eating at the beach side restaurant so being a little inset repellent - hard to find there.

We purchased the all inclusive meal plan as well. Spent about $1300 in food and drink for a cost of $1000 so it was worth it. You need to just order a glass (wine) or bottle (beer) at a time. Ask for a bottle of water or they will serve you a glass of water - order a bottle of bottle with every mean to take back to your room (has refrig). The selection of restaurants is sparse. The Italian restaurant (also where you have breakfast buffet) is nice but you wouldn't want to eat there more than twice on your stay. There is a small beach front cafe - good for a dinner or lunch. Room service is a good option too especially if you have a balcony with a view. if you are staying longer than 4 nights though - I would probably want to look into other dining options.

Snorkeling equipment was included in the all inclusive Nice snorkeling right off the beach. We took one trip to Playa Porto Marie - very nice beach and snorkeling too but get there in the morning to get a shady spot and away from the restrooms. It's a pay beach $6 per person but clear blue water - nice.

All in all we very much enjoyed our stay here. Staff was very attentive and service oriented. Grounds are clean (they rake the beaches every morning). Can swim up to the bar in the pool. Plenty of sun and or shady spots (especially during the week). Much less touristy than Aruba (except in the capital Williamstad which is a big shopping center for the daily cruise people). No speed boats, parasailing, or jet skis - nice and quiet. Not a lot of kids - many Dutch on vacation and business.

Room Tip: Get ocean front with a balcony - you'll enjoy beautiful sunsets with your tropical drink every n...

Check in and out was very fast.
Our room was close to a public parking lot, and some nights there was party there with a lot of noise. The beds and the pillows were very good.
Though the hotel were old it was well mantained.
The hotel had free shuttelbusservice twice a day to Willemstadt.

Room Tip: Choose a room away from the public parkinglot southeast of the hotel
