There are better hotels in Curacao, but for the price this hotel isn't bad. Breakfast was good, but it can get a little boring if you're there for a few days as it's the same menu daily. The location is fine if you're not looking for a beach outside your room. The hotel is more in town so you can walk around to different shops and restaurants. We had to drive to get to a beach and other attractions though. The staff is friendly.

We stayed at Sunscape Resort in Curacao which was absolutely wonderful. On our last day of our trip, we found out from other passengers staying at the same resort that our flight was delayed. Sunscape made an offer to Surinam Airways to let the affected passengers stay at the resort, but this was rejected by Surinam Airways. They opted to put us in this dump because they are cheap and know that you can only return home with them or Liat so they abuse you. They knew we were travelling with a baby and a small child but still put you in a place like this since they simply do not care.

The place was dirty and disgusting. They gave you a 'stranded' stub for you to have dinner which was absolutely disgusting!!!! The room was dirty and rusty. The place smelled old and moldy. We could not wait to get out of there!!! It felt like we were in a horror movie!

Do not go there!!! Sleeping on the street would be much better!

Also, don't expect any recourse from Surinam Airways after they treat you like garbage. Some of the most deceitful, arrogant and ignorant people work there. If you have to have any interaction with Mr. Jerome Khan be very careful. He is very deceitful and a liar! I wish Caribbean Airlines started this route so Surinam Airways could disappear!

Visited Curacao for the Jazz festival with my girlfriend. When we first arrived the room on the 11th floor was the worst I have ever seen for any hotel I've ever stayed in. There was exposed dripping piping on the hallway. The floor was unfinished, there was a leak in the bathroom and the mirror looked like it has not been changed in decades, orange with years of rust. The twin beds had a mattress which was probably worth less than a hundred dollars when it was installed also decades ago. We asked to be changed to a better room and the front staff was rude and unapologetic. They eventually did change our room to 328 which was facing the pool and much better, but still well below the standards which one would expect from any hotel with more than 2 stars. The TV was about 13" and the reception terrible. The bathroom was old and we didn't have any hot water during our 5 night stay. Incredibly we were only given two towels and no floor towel, and every day we would ask for a couple more bath towels and every morning after the room was cleaned they left us with two towels again.

In general this was about a one star hotel and I will never be back and cannot recommend it for any reason. Which is a shame because it has the best location in Willemstad.

Room Tip: The "better" rooms are on the separate building, not on the tower.

This hotel is simply disgusting. From the rooms, to the bathrooms, everything...location isn't bad, but honestly I'd rather be further away from town in a nicer hotel. My cold water doesn't work, the bed and pillows are uncomfortable. TV reception is terrible, and the noise outside goes very late making it difficult to sleep. Only bright side was the dinner at the hotel restaurant was actually pretty good. But that alone wouldn't make me ever stay here again!

The Plaza is well situated in the middle of town - close to the floating markets and the other attractions in Willemstad. Being an old building there are a number of faults with it - plumbing generally on Curacao can be difficult, but the room we ended up in smelled like a smokers room and the water temperature in the shower was not great. We only ate at the breakfast buffet once, it was not great and fairly expensive for what it was. The Plaza serves its purpose as a room with a bed and shower in the middle of town but I would recommend going elsewhere if this is all you're after - its overpriced for what you get.

Room Tip: King rooms with balcony are good - they look out over the harbour. Emphasise non-smoking at check in...

I have been 6 days and I must I'm comfortable, feeling at home, treated with respect, enjoying the restaurant, bar, and convenience of the gift shop/mini store. It isn't five star by design but the service and cleanliness make up for everything that I would get in a 5 star and more, not to mention its prime location close to everything in town.

Room Tip: There are two sides to this hotel which could be a prime reason for negative reviews. Knowing this...

This is the third time I visited curaçao and stayed at the plaza...every time it gets better! Yes it is an old hotel, but that's history. All renovations can't happen overnight- The pool has been renovated and certain floors/room have finished their renovation. An amazing sports book bar has been added underneath the pool. It's a must see! Come check out the diving! If you are there on honeymoon, stay in the suites- if you are not happy with your room, then you are spending too much time in it! What I have learned while staying in curaçao, if you need something, ask someone! The plaza is a historically beautiful hotel in the heart of punda with the most amazing views....don't pass that up~
